My name is Coire (pronounced like «Cory») and I teach guitar in BK and NYC. I take all levels of players (beginning-​advanced), and will be highly committed to your success. Regarding teaching style, I’m pretty open-​minded. I can be very regimented with set homework and practice schedules, or more relaxed in approach. Ideally, I think it’s best to have an overall balance between technique, songs/​musical projects and creative exploration. I incorporate theory into everything (in small amounts) to give the overall longterm understanding needed for students to eventually teach themselves from what they find online, playing with other musicians etc. I personally believe that the physical ability to play an instrument is only one side of the coin – the other is developing the inner musician; no great artist came from studying without allowing that knowledge to absorb and later rise into art.
