Night Kitchen Catering

We worked with Night Kitchen on our 11÷20÷15 wedding and we were beyond satisfied with their service and food! We chose Aaron to cater our wedding because he was laid back, easy to talk with, and we loved his creative energy. After our tasting (which he prepared for us in our home) we knew for sure he was our guy — he was able to take our ideas for our menu and make them come to life in a way that made them seem elegant and unexpected (all while being mindful of our budget). Communication with Angela in the office was thorough and timely. The staff at the wedding was professional, polite, and attentive and did an excellent job of making sure we had everything we needed on our day. Just as important — they kept time for the event, which is crucial. The food was fantastic and we are still getting compliments on the meal. We didn’t have to worry about a thing all night. It was perfectly wonderful and we look forward to having the chance to work with Night Kitchen again!

Aaron, Angela and team are as amazing as these other reviews say! We did a 50^th birthday party for my husband at our home in Brooklyn and from the first contact, they were responsive, easy to work with and reliable. Their staff for the event were incredibly professional (and fun!). And the food was truly exceptional. All of our guests commented on how amazing, creative and just generally yummy the food was. Everything proceeded according to budget and plan. Definitely hire them for your event!

Last summer my husband and I attended a wedding where the dinner, served family style, was a feast to the eye as well as the palate. We hired the caterer Aaron Unger for our son’s wedding on the spot.
Held at a NY State park, our celebration, a two-​day affair blending two cultures, included three ceremonies, and four distinct meals from a Friday evening vegetarian dinner to a blend of Cambodian and Middle Eastern dishes Saturday noon and evening. Numbers of guests ranged from seventy-​seven Friday evening to 138 Saturday lunch, to 188 Saturday evening. The bride’s mother prepared the Cambodian dishes and Aaron took care of the Middle Eastern careful to complement her dishes. Each meal, served family style, was a work of art in brilliant color, texture and flavor.
We had fun during the planning process as Aaron’s enthusiasm and creativity made for lively discussion. His knowledge of additional staff needed (all expert), even additional port-​o-​potties and where to get everyone and everything at the best prices made us feel secure and confident that everything would go off perfectly. And it did.
He went beyond our expectations rising early Saturday morning, to make omelets to order and French toast out of Friday’s remaining challah, lacing it with Bourbon to the delight of our guests who camped out on the grounds. He kept the coffee pots and hot water going all weekend.
Using fresh produce from a local farm, meant the best ingredients possible. We cannot praise him enough. His generosity, enthusiasm, skill, love of food, presentation, his professionalism, ability to stay calm and focused, makes him the best caterer in the business. We can’t wait to hire his services again.

Five stars are not enough to describe how great Aaron and the folks at Night Kitchen are. Aaron catered our wedding for about 125 people at 26 Bridge in DUMBO in September 2015. From the start, he was friendly, enthusiastic, and somehow both laid back and totally on the ball. He put together a delicious menu that struck just the right balance of flavorful and sophisticated, yet unpretentious. His staff were very professional, and handled everything from setup, to service, to cleanup without a hitch. But don’t take it from us, here are several actual quotes from our guests:

I hired Aaron and the gang at Night Kitchen Catering to do an all vegetarian/​vegan Engagement /​Graduation party for 50 people. He masterfully adapted his tried and tested best dishes for the party, and completely exceeded all expectations. He is timely, professional, responsive, and most importantly an exceptional chef/​caterer. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
PS — my guests, vegetarian vegan and carnivore, all raved that this was the best catered party they’d ever been to. I’d have to agree.

I work in non-​profit development at a Brooklyn cultural institution, and I’ve hired Night Kitchen Catering for two work events involving high profile donors, and in not the easiest of circumstances (our first event was cancelled due to a blizzard and Aaron was great about rescheduling!). One was a cocktail party with passed hors d’oeuvres and one was a sit-​down dinner. I cannot say enough good things about Aaron and his team. Very easy to work with, very accommodating, and, most important to me, the food was delicious both times! Aaron himself is a very easy going person and talented chef — he takes care of details but doesn’t seem to sweat them — this is a very unusual quality in a caterer, and it helped me feel more relaxed as the planner! And his staff are all lovely and very professional. It’s such a nice thing to feel like you’re working with a friend (really, like I’m convinced Aaron and I should be friends in real life!) but also get top-​notch service. Many guests at both of the events we’ve done so far asked who the caterer was — they made that strong of an impression. And I will surely be happy to work with them again and again.

I hired Aaron and his team to throw a little private event at my bosses house. As an assistant to a high profile person I cannot begin to explain what a blessing it is when someone just makes your life easier! Aaron came and did a short visit before and then just made it happen! He has a totally chill nice vibe and is easy to communicate with via email. Everyone loved the food and they went above and beyond to help with alcohol and rentals. Highly recommend!

Looking for affordable, delicious catering for a wedding? Look no further! My husband and I can’t recommend Aaron and his Night Kitchen staff enough… they catered our April wedding at the Greenpoint Loft and our guests are STILL talking about how incredible the food was! Aaron specializes in fresh, simple food– chopped salads, grilled veggies, steak with chimmichurri sauce, jeweled rice, etc. Literally everything he made was outstanding, and no one ever says that at a wedding (I never have!). Aaron is super chill, yet responsive and organized. We priced out 10 different caterers in NYC/​Brooklyn, and Aaron offered the most reasonable prices by far. Use him, you won’t be disappointed!

A friend enthusiastically recommended Aaron when I was planning my husband’s birthday party at our home. She had hired him twice and had been really happy working with him. Her advice was spot on. First, Aaron is super nice, very flexible and easy to work with. Second, the pricing was very reasonable. Third, when he showed up for the party with his team, they were all incredibly friendly, very professional and efficient and had things well in hand within minutes of arriving. I felt totally confident with them in my kitchen. And lastly, the food was outstanding. Many of my guests raved about how delicious everything was — the chicken was flavorful and juicy, the salmon was perfectly cook and melt in your mouth delicious, the vegetarian tacos were fantastic, the salads were fresh and perfectly dressed (not drowning in dressing.) I was absolutely thrilled with everything, including the left overs, which I have been happily eating for lunch all week! Thank you to the Night Kitchen teaming for doing such a fantastic job!

When I first met Aaron of Night Kitchen catering, I wrote an ecstatic email telling my fiancé that I had found the perfect caterer for our wedding. While I’m sure that sounded overly optimistic, over the next six months we found my initial assessment was right time and time again. In the end, we can honestly say that Aaron and the Night Kitchen Catering team were everything that we could have asked for and more. We would recommend them very highly without any reservations.
Aaron, the culinary genius behind Night Kitchen Catering, was helpful, accommodating and understanding; he was efficient and easy to work with; he remained calm, and fun, the entire time; he was reasonably priced; and his food was just outstanding. He produced creative and unusual courses, worked with our budget (and never pressured us to try and increase it) and offered helpful suggestions along the way. Everything he made was a hit– I had no less than 7 of our guests come up and ask for Night Kitchen Catering’s contact information because what the food was so memorable.
Perhaps my overwhelming impression of Aaron, however, was just that he was a genuinely nice guy who wanted to make our wedding special. He was far more concerned that we were happy– and felt we were getting a fair price– than in anything else. He shared in our enthusiasm and we had fun with him– from pre wedding planning meetings to a tremendously festive tasting that he arranged at our apartment. He was our partner throughout the process, and not just someone we contracted. Given that we moved to Istanbul five weeks before the wedding, his patience and responsiveness really went above the call of duty.
We have gone to several weddings over the last year. At each one we said, «The food was nowhere near as good as what Aaron made– and I’m sure they paid a lot more than what we paid for Aaron.» Simply put, we can’t recommend Aaron and Night Kitchen catering enough– they really were the perfect choice.

Nightkitchen created a yummy mediterranean feast for our wedding. Guests still rave about how delicious and unique the food was. Coming from a large Italian family, that says a lot.

Aaron catered our wedding of about 170 people. He’s an incredible chef and a wonderful caterer. His staff is smooth and professional. Everyone raved about the food. We did a cocktail style party with a buffet and passed hors d’ourves. Aaron’s food is amazing and he’s a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend Night Kitchen!

Aaron and his crew catered my grandfather’s memorial. They were professional, unobtrusive and efficient — a joy to work with. Most importantly, since my grandfather loved his food, the food was all excellent. Just about everyone commented on how good it was. The only letdown was that we weren’t able to finish it all — Grandpa would have — though that had more to do with the very generous quantities provided than anything else.

Listen, Aaron of Night Kitchen Catering really is as good as it gets.
People are STILL taking about how his food was the best they’ve EVER had at a wedding, hands down. Especially his hors d’oeuvres. We had 150 ppl for our wedding at an upstate location in 2012, and everyone was totally satisfied and cared for.
Take advantage of his versatility & his grilling skills. He makes an incredible steak, and grilled veg. I LOVE his Persian influence (especially Georgian beet walnut salad, lentils, eggplant). He puts tons of fresh herbs in everything. Beautiful presentation. Both of my bridesmaids also ended up hiring him as their caterer following our wedding.
The quality of his food, his work ethic, his charm are outstanding. He’s a great person to work with and will not let you down — he goes above and beyond and he takes incredible pride in his work. I strongly recommend him.

If there were 6 stars I would give them to Aaron from Night Kitchen Catering. I’ve had Aaron’s food before at events at a Foundation with whom I work so I knew that his food was great. I asked him to cater my father’s memorial — this may be odd, but good food is important to our family.
First of all, Aaron is lovely to work with. We had a great time planning and discussing the food we would serve. He was completely communicative and flexible working with me and my mother (who was sporting a broken leg and having difficulty moving around. Second, the even was odd in that there were two parts in two different locations — one public with more finger-​type food and the other large but private, in my house, with food served buffet-​style in dishes. The staff was amazing and a pleasure to work with. They were gracious and friendly. They left my kitchen spotless.
Despite the nature of the event, a memorial, every comment I heard about the day included «and the food is fabulous.» «this is so good!» and more. I heard many people asking for Aaron’s card though out the afternoon.
The thing that I want try to convey is that Night Kitchen food is delicious and looks beautiful. The part that makes it seem special is that you feel like it was cooked for a small dinner rather than prepared for large event. It is food that makes you feel warm and comfortable, even though it is also sophisticated. And, believe me, everyone feels pretty excited about what is in front of them.
I’m enjoying the left-​overs even as I type. I cannot recommend Aaron and Night Kitchen Catering enough.

Aaron Unger, the chef/​owner of Night Kitchen Catering left such a good impression on me that I feel confident leaving a review even though I ultimately had to choose a different catering service for my wedding due to familial preferences. Aaron was prompt in answering all my inquiries quickly and flexible to work within my challenged budget. The food served at my tasting was top notch which is a significant feat since he hauled the food from BK to the UWS. Most caterers will invite you to their kitchen, where the food prepared on-​site. You truly understand what your guests will experience since most caterers will ultimately have to prepare the food off-​site at your venue.
I have spoken to several caterers and Aaron has been one of the most professional and proved he knows what he is doing. I hope to have another event in the near future so I can use him!
