Vine Wine

Ugh … Here’s my little Vine Whine.
This is the only Unilocal review I’ve ever written. But this place really irks me.
It’s super close to my house and have been 5 – 6 times, but every time I go I don’t go back for a few months because the crew is so agonizing to deal with.
Commensurately uppity attitudes — typical hipster self important/​involved vibe. Not even like talking down about what seems to be a pretty decent (if not standard) inventory, just consistently cold and unwelcoming/can’t be bothered. General fail at human/​customer service interaction 101.
The selections works fine, and the location is great … Which makes it all the more annoying that I generally avoid it to spare myself the experience of insulting them by shopping at their store.
Will usually walk down the hill to Ninis Wine Cellar for friendlier folks, or treat myself to a couple stops on the L train to Henry’s for a better selection (and friendlier folk).

I walked in needing a bottle of wine for my dinner. Luckily it is only a block away from where I live. The place is clean and it smelled of home cooked cookies. I was told they had just made granola.
The place is divided so you can easily browse the options of old world vs. new world and red vs. white. The rack in the middle has their under $ 15 selections. After looking around I picked three different bottles. A good place to go to if you are in the area and need a bottle of wine.

My husband and I have been going to Vine for 4 years now, and we want to LOVE it. Maybe our expectations are high, but we enjoy how thoughtful the window displays are. we enjoy the selection of wine. But we hate. HATE the mightier than thou– mentally that plagues every ONE of their employees.
No one is friendly, no one says hello and we have the most awkward encounters there. We live down the block for pete’s sake — we frequent this place OFTEN.
I get it, people who live and breath wine take themselves wayyy seriously, but honestly I am live by the catch more bees with honey mentality. Smiling and greeting customers goes way further than ignoring them and being stand offish.
Now it’s come to the point where we would rather walk 10 – 15 min, then purchase wine from place.

Wonderfully warm, friendly, and knowledge staff helped me select the perfect bottles of wine at exactly the price point I was looking to spend. One of them even dug through the refrigerated bottles to find for me already chilled versions of the bottles I was about to purchase, which was very nice! They had exactly what I was looking for and I will definitely be back.

A very cool alternative wine bar right off a subway station so you can grab a bottle on the way to wherever you’re going. I walked in and saw Hardy’s «Dirty & Rowdy» wine knowing this was going to be legit. One of the owners loves to geek out about the vino as much as I do and we talked everything from Scholium Project to Jura to Radikon. Great little place to pick up something not so mainstream

Found this place driving around. Loved that they tag the bottles with the place where it was made and taste. Customer service needs to improve. They were a little harsh. Besides that the place is good and great price on wines

Vine Wine has a very good selection as opposed to a lot of other places in the neighborhood, however, the sales people are a little «too cool» if you get my meaning and agreeing with one of the earlier post’s, they seem to make mistakes at the register a little too often.

I write this review as I sip on a pleasant Spanish white, though the aftertaste of poor customer service has quite a long finish. I purchased said bottle this evening on my way home. The bottle was marked $ 13.95 with a description of its contents, yet at the purchase point their computer charged $ 14.95. I commented on the discrepancy and was told by the cashier that «the prices in the computer were generally more accurate than the prices advertised.» I was thusly charged $ 16.28 with tax and while the cashier said he would spot me the 28 cents, I paid in full, quite disappointed that my repeated business was worth less than one dollar to them, even though my punch card showed that I had been there a number of times in recent months. Additionally, I’ve discovered on a quick Google search that the average going rate for this wine is $ 12. Fortunately for me there are literally hundreds of other places to custom in this bustling metropolis.

This is a decent stop for wine. Okay Prices. Girl who rang us up was okay also.

Vine is a jewel of the neighborhood. The staff is knowledgable and helpful. They specialize in small batch wines and/​or wineries that grow 100 percent of their own grapes. It seems as if the staff tastes every bottle of wine before they decide to sell it. (And they have amazing taste!). Great selection of wines under $ 15, too. You really can’t go wrong in this shop.

This is my primary wine store. They have a good selection, a ton of bottles under $ 15, interesting booze from local and small batch producers. The staff is super helpful and don’t just direct you to the most expensive bottles, but really try to find something that fits for your circumstance (budget and occasion).
They have a large format selection that is perfect for large dinner parties. These aren’t jug wines, but respectable wines in large format bottles.
There are some really interesting selections from California, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, and other lesser known wine producing countries like Slovenia and Greece.
The Wednesday Wine and Saturday Spirit tastings are a must. They try to get producers in to pour when possible. You get to know a ton about what is put into the production.
If driving, there is usually a spot right in front of the store or just around the corner.
There is a discount on cases, so that’s nice.
Do read the tags on the bottles. They are informative and sometimes really funny («like a lover’s warm embrace»).

We live down the block and this is our go to wine store. First off they have a wine card, so the more you drink and the more you spend the higher your discount will be once the wine card is filled :)

I like Vine WIne. They put a lot of care into what they do. The hanging descriptions show a great deal of interest in their selections (although smaller tags might not cover the entire label). They also take feedback well, and have added some awesome selections.
All in all, the neighborhood is lucky to have this little spot. Maybe a tad bit pricey, but I guess that is what it takes to make a great contribution to the neighborhood. It’s definitely the best wine shop in the area.

They have tastings every Wednesday night, which I thoroughly enjoy as it introduces me to many different kinds and varieties of wine. Occasionally, they also have tastings on Saturdays or Sundays too and they don’t only have wine, but also spirits. They things they carry are different and great fun to experience. The people are super nice and super friendly and helpful
My go-​to wine shop.

The guy on the corner of Metropolitan and Union right outside of the L entrance probably gets most of the business around my ‘hood. And he’s a nice guy but his wine selection is for shit.
Thank jeebus for Vine Wine. They are friendly. They are well priced. They care about wine. They offer a buy 10 deal. The store is pleasant to visit. They have free wine tastings on Wednesdays. They have lovely window installations.

Excellent wine shop close to the Metropolitan Ave G stop.
They have old world vs. new world section. They also have a section for wines under $ 15. I was going to a BYOB painting class nearby, so I stopped in to get a nice bottle of Carmenere. My bottle was from Chile and a good solid wine. Medium-​bodied, dry and good to the last drop.
I would definitely come back when in the area to buy some more wine for a painting class or a dinner party with friends or a clandestine rendezvous in sexy Brooklyn!

They give out cute carry bags with purshase. I bought a Spanish sherry for $ 14.95.
Makes me wish I lived in Williamsburg.
