It has since grown with its own identety under the independent ownership of Nino Settepani since 1999.

Became a co-​onwer of Bruno Bakey in 1981

attended the French Cukinary in NYC under chef Jaque Pepin

established Caffe Bondi in Chelsea

and Settepani Bakery in Willimasburg Brooklyn, Dobbs Ferry and Irvington in Westchester

In 2000 became a pioneer in Harlem by establishig Settepani bakery and café

In 2010 he and his wife Leah transformed the bakery in harlem to an Italian restaurant raising the bar once again for Central Harlem

His vision is to have a real diversified city with heathy food accessible to everyone

The staff is super nice here! I often stop in for an iced coffee since I live close by. I also am a huge fan of their rainbow cookies and cheesecake! The marble one is my favorite. I also enjoy the mini cakes with the chocolate mousse one being the best. The prices are also very affordable which is nice!

Awful, stale, flaccid lobster tail (same as Katey and Diana said very recently)…happy I didn’t spring for an extra buck to hit the $ 5 CC minimum.
PS there’s a Belly sticker on the door, but only a dark tablet near register

I live near here so I’ve given this place two tries. Each time the service was terrible and I never felt welcomed. I’ve gotten cake and a brownie and a croissant. The food has been terrible each time. Specifically, the cake tasted a few days old. The brownie had this weird crusty bottom and the croissant was rather unflaky.
Each of my desserts smelled like the place. Or like the refrigerant that they use, which is kind of disgusting unless you like eaten old, crusty freezer burned pastries.
Never coming back here. Stop selling old ass food!

I came to Settepani super last minute and without ever having had used them before. The day before the party to be exact and Antonio took my order. Even though it was so last minute he was able to create a design that I wanted and the cake looked like the picture I sent him with just a few tweaks that we discussed. The cake was ready in time and was packaged carefully for our pickup. All my guests were impressed at how beautiful it was while on display and then at how delicious it was when it was served. I’m so happy there was just enough left to take home so we’re able to enjoy it today. I’m looking forward to the next time we will need a «wow» cake. Thank you so much!

Delicious cakes at awesome prices. This is my «go to» place for birthdays/​special occasions (yes, I’m the designated «cake buyer».lol). Rather than writing a long ass review I’ll just tell you this. you cannot go wrong getting a cake from Settepani. Just make sure you give the cheesecakes ample time to defrost. learned that one the hard way!

So far, not worth it. I’ve tried the cookies, the eclairs, and the breads, and they all had relatively no taste. Super bummer.

Worst bakery ever. Not only are the pastries disgusting so are the people who work there. I’ve lived across the street for 13 years and they have garbage trucks, delivery trucks, all kinds of trucks coming around all night. They leave them running all night and when I politely ask to shut the trucks off at 2 am because nobody is occupying them, douche bag said «call the cops.» Sad. F settepani!

Sometimes it’s a terrible thing that a bakery is on your way home from work… sometimes, not so much.
I stop in everyone once in a while for a few cookies (crazy enough, I have restraint… and i’m not crazy into sweets, so I does just hit the spot occassionally). However, when I have people over, I like to grab their black forest cake, which is awesome. They also have great iced coffee in the summer and gelato.
They offer a variety of cookies and a few pastries. They’re good too, so I’m definitely a repeat customer.

We were shopping around the neighborhood for our wedding cake.
Settepani Bakery offered us
— a fair price (another bakery in the hood had an inflated price $ 250 more than what Settepani priced it at)
— they accommodated our design request using a ceramic peony topper from etsy + a jadeite cake stand just for the occasion
— They delivered it at no cost to Aurora, near by where we had our reception the morning of
— The cake was beautiful and tasty

I am so glad they are close to my home. I love going to independent businesses, especially for the holidays, and spend what little bit I have. My plan this year is to pick up some goodies.
They are friendly and the selection is very good. They are in a really good spot (at least for me) right by the bus stop (B48) in either direction.

Grabbed a birthday cake for my boyfriend’s father. One of the few bakeries around that was still open at 7pm on a Sunday and was selling whole cakes. Alas, my review is limited to that one cake we purchased: the strawberry shortcake.
The cake itself was more than enough for the five of us. It was moist and soft; it had no qualities of stale-​ness nor any indication that it had been sitting there for too long.
There were strawberries of a copious amount. On top and within the layers and they weren’t soggy. Our only complaint actually was the syrup or compote. It was very viscous and made the cake more sweet than necessary in our opinion.
However, the cake as a whole was not diabetes in baked-​good form. I’ve an inkling that we are just used to Asian cakes which are less dense and border between ‘sweetness nonexistent’ to ‘barely sweet’.
Oh, and the price was agreeable: $ 15. Pleasantly surprised and money well spent! We will be coming back to try the cookies! (I hope my bf reads this! *hint hint*).
Please note: I believe it is tailored to the to-​go and to-​order customers as the seating is limited to one table. This does not take from their selection or the quality of goods however. Not to me at least. Just a heads up.

Nice selection of baked goods. Shockingly inexpensive. Broken espresso machine was irritating considering she looked at it for 1 second and said «it’s broken» which made it look like she just didn’t want to make a latte. The treats we got were pretty good. However, Fortunato Brothers is right down the street with a much better selection, comparable prices and a working espresso machine.

I walked in 15 minutes before closing time. The shelves were scant and the pastries that remained were not at their freshest.
I opted for 3 small macarons that were at a helluva deal (3 for $ 1). I bought 6 of whatever was left. The woman that worked there was very polite.
The macarons were not light and airy but very crispy. The filling however, was fantastic.
Looking forward to going back when those puppies are fresh!

We celebrate virtually everybody’s birthdays at work and I’m usually the person in charge of getting cakes for my colleagues. After hearing that one particular colleague wasn’t that big a fan of cakes, but was instead a big fan of pecan pie, I knew I had to find a pecan pie for him. After a quick search on Unilocal,this place popped up, and voila, it was only about a 7 minute walk away from my apartment. I call up the bakery, speak to a man, who takes down my name, phone number, and my order.
I admit, I was kind of skeptical since the man never took down any information in order to place a down payment for the order. He swore that the pie would be ready for me in the morning. When I get to the place, a very nice woman helps me. Indeed, my order was ready to be picked up! Bonus: sales tax was not added! I take the pie back to work, which was a big hit with the colleague who it was meant for, as well as some of the other staff members.
The best part of it all? The 10″ pecan pie I had gotten for him was only $ 13. Comparable bakeries would charge nearly double that amount! I was instantly wow-​ed by my experience and I will definitely be coming back here for more baked goods in the near future.

I came in here the other day and purchased a coffee flavored mousse cake. The decorations and the design of the cake was very appealing. It tasted just as good as it looked. The service here is great. The ladies here help you right away without the snobby stuck up attitude. Settepani doesn’t disappoint. They’re pretty consistent with their goods and customer service.

You smell great. Really, you do. I just have yet to find a tasty treat in your display cases.
The most disappointing items have always been the bread-​based items (including loaves). Bland, bland, bland. I have never been able to finish any of the bread-​stuffs and end up sad and dispose of the purchases shortly thereafter.
I’m giving you an extra star because you have a convenient cup of coffee at $ 1.25.
