Super 8 Brooklyn

If I could, I would give this zero stars.
The only plus to this hotel is that it is clean. That’s it.
The front desk staff is apathetic. Upon checking in, the guy at the front desk wouldn’t even take off his ear buds to check us in. The parking is a joke-​there is a small lot for 6 cars and it’s completely not safe. The rooms reeked of smoke and to call them clean is a stretch. I know it’s cheap but cheap doesn’t have to mean dirty.

I stayed there for 3 nights. Affordable, clean, convenient. Lots of places to eat nearby. It’s simple and unassuming, but a good place to stay. The people who work there are very pleasant and helpful. It’s good, basic accomidation, and I would happily stay there again.

Room is dirty… Bathroom is gross. I guess you kinda get what you not for? Location is semi-​decent. Front desk guy could not function this morning at 9am. Asked if I could get a hold of housekeeping for some towels and he said to call them. I go to my room and look for the housekeeping number but there is no button for it so I walk back down to the front desk. I ask him if there is a number to get housekeeping or can I just ask you for towels? He says they come in after 10am… Really? You could have told me this the first time! How is checkout at 11am and you tell me your housekeeping staff comes in after 10am? He was short and not interested in my one question. I know many reviews won’t affect someone’s decision on choosing a hotel sometimes but I for sure will never be back here. Goodbye Loser 8.

Sad to see this little Brooklyn secret has really gone downhill — once this place was cheap, convenient and well managed. Front desk is still very helpful, price is still great but the room was not clean nor was it cleaned WELL the three days I stayed here. Dirty towels left everywhere, the floor was not cleaned and the coffee maker was only cleaned once in three days. The once decent continental breakfast is now just some sad bagels and cold coffee and add to that the first night I had to call the front desk because a child was running the hallways unaccompanied by an adult, screaming at 11PM so there is that. Hope they make changes because it was SO nice to have an affordable, clean and basic hotel for around $ 100 so close to Manhattan. But for the (now) $ 150, I would at least expect it to be CLEAN!

Perfect for a one night stay after getting in late at JFK. All we needed was a place to sleep for the night and this did the trick. Bed was comfortable, room was big enough, it was clean and the staff were friendly. The only problem was that the TV remote was broken and the TV didn’t have buttons on it to deal with changing the channel or adjusting the volume manually.

Not a grand space or large room, but clean. The king bed was wonderful; had the deepest-​sleep two-​hour nap of my life. Both encounters at the front desk were very courteous. Only complaint would be I would have appreciated a higher-​grade toilet paper.

Can’t beat the price we paid. Holiday weekend and we got a room that wasn’t a complete craphole for less than $ 100 a night in Brooklyn? Sign me up. And really, «not a complete craphole» is an understatement. Pretty decent place considering it is after all a Super 8.
Spartan accommodations, of course. But it was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and inexpensive. Pros: B37 bus, and the R/​N/​D trains running just a block up. Prospect Park just a short run away. Location was absolutely a plus, in addition to the price and cleanliness. Water pressure was adequate, and on a cold-​ass weekend like it was when we were there, the heat worked too.
They even had Frosted Flakes in their breakfast service! And waffles too, if that’s your thing.

For the price and the location, I gave this Super 8 four stars. The rooms are clean and updated from what you think a Super 8 should have. I was able park behind the hotel without having to pay it drive around for an hour looking for a space on the street. Breakfast was a little cheesey but hey at least it was something.

Question: How many calls does it take to get someone to mail the keys you accidentally left in the hotel room?
Answer: Apparently 4!
We stayed at Super 8 because it was in fantastically close proximity to a friend’s lovely wedding in the neighborhood and only cost about $ 170 for the night. While the room was comfortable and complimentary breakfast was provided (nice to grab a bite before our train), the hallways reeked of weed (gives «smoking rooms» a new meaning) and the experience was peppered with frustration.
1. Do not even try to get into the hotel before check in at 3pm, they will make you wait until 3:15 even if your room is ready, even if your event (wedding in this case) starts at 4 and you need to get ready.
2. My boyfriend forgot a set of keys in the room, which really shouldn’t have been a big deal. This once happened to me in Chattanooga (with a passport, no less) and the hotel took down my payment info to overnight the document. An expensive pain in the ass, but not the end of the world. After calling the Super 8 to see if they found the keys (they did), they were unsure whether they could mail the keys to us.
Since we were most certainly not driving three hours back to Brooklyn, we had to call again when the manager was in (who said he’d call us back). This went back and forth for a full DAY. Luckily my boyfriend and I both work from home and could share a set of house/​car keys but the experience with this incompetent hotel staff was just infuriating. After talking with a few different people, they FINALLY agreed to overnight the keys.

Stayed there in October of 2012 a few days before superstorm Sandy. This place is hard to beat. Very inexpensive compared to typical New York rates. The subway is easily accessible one block away. Relatively close to the Barclays Center and very accessible to the rest of the city via subway or cab. Great restaurants all nearby and most deliver by using Grubhub app. Would recommend this place to everyone who is on a budget.

Never in my bougie life did I think I would stay at a Super 8, but I did and it was great.
My friend suggests we stay at a hotel for the weekend to get all our partying and dinner plans done, I envisioned a Marriott hotel. but when he said SUPER 8? I said I’ll bring a UV light to check the sheets and a thorough check for bed bugs. Not the case folks.
–Location is right at the end of Park Slope, close proximity to everything and everywhere.
–Parking on the street worked well, that part of 3^rd ave wasn’t that busy and I felt safe leaving the car there.
–Check-​in & Check-​out were super quick & easy. we even asked to extend check out to noon instead of 11 and it was free of charge – we honestly checked out at 123O but no issues.
–Room C-​11, itself had everything: own iron & board, fridge, flat screen tv, a clean huge & comfy queen sized bed, decent sized bathroom.
–No smells or unusual stains, except one towel.
–The whole place was spic & span clean
–free wifi
Much better than I expected. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back just to spend a weekend in BK.

Das Super 8 ist ein sauberes, erst kürzlich renoviertes Motel, in dem wir uns während unseres 12-​tägigen Aufenthalt sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Das personal, von Reception über Frühstück bis zur Zimmerdame sind alle ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit gewesen. Die Zimmer sind ausreichend gross, das badezimmer verfügt über Badewanne, Toilette und Waschbecken und ist ebenfalls geräumig. Täglicher Handtuchwechsel und ich schätze, die Bettwäsche wurde auch jeden zweiten bzw. dritten Tag gewechselt. Das inkludierte Frühstück ist halt amerikanisch, Kaffee, Toast, Bagel, Cream cheese, jelly, obst, pancakes — was will man mehr zum 1. Frühstück. Wir können dieses Super 8 nur empfehlen und werden es selbst wieder buchen.

I agree with the other reviews — a good place to stay in NYC. Ridiculously expensive for a tiny room, but that’s the city. Very, very clean and room was well lit with good TV (but limited channels) and good wifi. Breakfast room was too small for the crowd, but that is always true in hotels that convert a single guest room to a breakfast room. Breakfast itself was pretty standard. Room had a fridge but no microwave. The one in the breakfast room was available all the time, though.
Parking lot is small and squeezy. I got a space when I arrived, then parked a block away on the street for a couple of days and then got a space again. The lot is behind the hotel, off Presidents Street. That block of President is kind of deserted at night (walking from the restaurant zone on 5^th Ave in Park Slope, but there is traffic and light, and I didn’t feel unsafe.
I may well stay here again.

Top tip: Do not stay here.
I was only staying at the hotel for one night. But in that time I managed to encounter these issues:
— Dirty towels in my room. They looked like they had been through the wash, but the stains were not removed.
— Blood (looking) stain on my pillowcase
— Some kind of oil stain on my sheets
— When you shower, the fire alarm goes off for about 10 minutes
— The first room they put me in was right on the road, you could hear car breaks, radios, people talking. The windows are so thin they don’t keep the noise out.
— The room they moved me to had the hotel air conditioning right outside my window so it was like trying to sleep in a laundrette.
— Staff told me that noise was «nothing to complain about»
— People roam the halls at night. 1am, 3am, 6am you can here people in the lobby discussing life. The room doors are badly fitted so the gaps let the noise right in. That kept me up most of the night.
— Breakfast is disgusting. The croissants I’m sure are just those fake plastic ones you put on display and are not actually for eating.
— Quite a few guests seem to live here and make you feel like you’re staying at their home… but not in a good way. More like resenting the fact you’re on their turf.
— The TV didn’t work. At first I thought it was the remote as it would only occasionally change the channel, they changed the remote, but it didn’t work either so it must have been the TV. I gave up on that.
— Some of the rooms must be smoking rooms as you can smell cigarettes in the corridors.
So to round up. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It’s just a really badly designed hotel that is getting run down. Avoid.

I’m almost reluctant to post this review because I’d love the Brooklyn Super 8 to be my little secret, but in the interest of being a benevolent traveler, I’ll give y’all the skinny.
First of all, this hotel was cleaner and had more amenities than the hotel in Manhattan I stayed in for twice the price. Flat screen TV, wireless, alarm clock, iron, ironing board, hair drier, mini fridge! (mini fridge!) FREE PARKING. (If you reserve off the website.) Close to several metro stops. Free breakfast too! (And they had a waffle machine!)
Skip the trendy places with shitty service and stained sheets, stay in Super 8 instead. It ticked all the boxes for a hotel, clean, clean, almost HOSPITAL level clean, like ya just took it outta the package brand new! The staff was helpful. When the website screwed up my reservation they fixed it right away. I feel like the front foyer was always being mopped every time I came in and out. At night there was a security guard too. I felt totally safe.
The rooms are not big, but what do you need a big room for in NY? You should be out on the town anyways. No pillow top or temper-​pedic beds either and the poly blend comforter did make me a little hot while I was sleeping, but fortunately, all I had to do was turn on their excellent A/​C.
The hotel has a nice, updated décor but it is not trendy, nor is it in a trendy part of town. (Unless you consider abandoned factories and U-​haul lots trendy.) That being said, I felt totally fine walking to and from the Subway at night. There are some decent looking little places for food and coffee around and it’s just steps from shi-​shi Park Slope.
Until I win the megabucks, I won’t be staying in ANY other hotel in NYC!

Cheap, quiet. One block from subway. Clean, clean, clean! Everything works! Generous and kind staff, very helpful. Refused tip after bringing up rollout!!! My first stay in a Super 8. Pleasantly surprised. Very European, mod lobby, even the elevator is super here! Free breakfast is about what you would expect, just meh for me, but a great deal as we had three people in our room. The con is that the room is soooo tiny. With the rollout the door didn’t open, but it worked. Felt safe and snug, a real rest in the big, bad city.

This is a great new hotel, wonderful location, super cute.
The rooms are small but nice, flat screens in all the rooms and padding on the walls. (to protect from noise?) The bathrooms come equipped with double the amount of tiny bottles of shampoos soaps and lotions compared to what hotels usually provide which was a treat since the times I do use their stuff I generally have to trek down to the lobby to restock.
The free breakfast is nicer than a lot of free breakfasts, cereal, croissants, bagels, muffins, juice. The front desk also has coupons for 10% off for the café across the street which has tasty breakfast sandwiches for only a few bucks to start with.
It’s on third ave which is a short hop to fifth where there are tons of fantastic bars and restaurants.
I docked it a star because in the rooms with two beds one of the beds is a double and the other is like kids sized which is a bummer if you are an adult sharing a room with another adult that you don’t want to share a bed with.

Cheap (for New York), conveniently located (2 blocks from one of the great streets of Park Slope), new, and clean. This hotel is basically exactly what I want for my personal trips to Brooklyn. I liked the feeling of not-​being-​cheated so much that I would consider staying here even for trips to Manhattan.
«A neighborhood gem,» is exactly right.

In a city where hotels cost an arm and a leg or you pay up but have to share a bathroom with your neighbor, I was so happy to find this place. We had some business in Soho and making the trek to the city was easy. The subway is just about 2 blocks away.
The hotel itself is pretty new which is nice. It’s nice staying in a place where the bedding hasn’t been washed a zillion times and the bed is still new, the tv works and the carpet isn’t stained. It was also very clean and breakfast is great they do offer quite a few carbohydrate options. The rooms are quiet the shower nice and only a few blocks from some seriously great shops and food.
I would easily recommend anyone to stay here and I will absolutely stay here again. The price is unbeatable.

Stayed here because I usually stay in the city when I come through to NY and I wanted to see what was so great about BK without having to take a train from the city every day. Staff here is nice, esp. the girl at the front counter. I like her she is funny. I woke up every morning to hear a woman I assumed was their manager? giving explicit orders to the staff. This didn’t bother me because the hotel seemed like it was still putting some finishing touches on the décor and she was just making sure they would turn out right. The room next to me was also being worked on every morning, but it didn’t bother me because I slept through it. I never woke up early enough to eat breakfast but it looked presented well and in a very well kept area.
I definitely plan to stay here again and would highly recommend it!
Easyyyyy access to the R train.

Although Super 8 is a new hotel to the area, it is a neighborhood gem! It is located centrally in Park Slope, Brooklyn, a great, quiet area. There are fantastic restaurants nearby, but the hotel is the greatest new addition. The rooms are large and the breakfast is gigantic! I loved it :)
Oh, and if you’re interested in going to Manhattan, the Subway stop is a block away for a quick, 15 minute ride into Manhattan.
It was a great experience, and I would love to stay there again!
