History

Established in 2011.

For Tara, caring for animals has always been one of her passions! That passion started as a kid on her Grandparent’s small family farm in rural Virginia. After moving to Florida as a teenager, she worked odd jobs pet-sitting for friends. While in college, she had a wonderful job at Camp Marlin Doggy Daycare; being paid to play with dogs all day! It was then she realized her calling and goal; caring for animals, large and small. A couple of years later, she moved to New York City and set her plan into action. Thus SouthPaw Dog Walking was born!

Pam, the SouthPaw Park Slope Manager, came onboard the team in April 2014. She is passionate about the outdoors, always looking to surround herslef with nature, whether it is running, biking, or doing yoga. She grew up with two Australian Shepard’s and realized a long time ago that working with dogs was her passion. Her love for dogs and the outdoors led her to SouthPaw and she has loved every minute of it!

I love dogs!

I know dogs are meant to be a part of my life and me a part of theirs. I grew up with two Australian Shepard’s, Nicky and Jack. Nicky was my very first dog and an amazing friend. He used to pick up sticks or more like huge branches and run around the yard with them. My brother and I would have to dive out of the way to keep from being clothes lined by a branch. Jack, our newest addition to the family, is the funniest dog ever! He couldn’t imagine greeting anyone who comes to the door without his stuffed soccer ball in his mouth. He gets so excited that he makes a half-barking half-whining noise while he wiggles his tailless butt everywhere.

I have always been known as the «dog nut» among friends and co-workers. I started volunteering at Sean Casey Animal Rescue and it was so amazing to walk and learn from those dogs. I knew that I had to spend my days working with dogs. Joining SouthPaw has been such a pleasure and a joy and everyday I live a life I love!
