Rose really knows her stuff. She’s amazing with color and a genius with my wavy hair. She’s taken me from very dark, almost black hair to red and eventually to blonde. My hair stayed healthy through it all. As for my waves… she’s magic with scissors. My hair always looks great when she cuts it, but it even looks great while its growing in. I never have to wait long, the prices are beyond reasonable. The place has a great energy. I highly recommend Rapunzel Rapunzel!

Took a couple of sessions for Rose to get the color corrected, but the result was something I could have only hoped for! Just knew I wanted the dark color out. What I got is something I will kept going back to get. Now that the formula has been established to cover the gray, the visits will be a breeze.

I have gone to Mark several times for highlights and every time have been so happy with his work! Before going to Rapunzel Rapunzel, other colorists had damaged my hair and really dried it out(blonde highlights). I’ve never had that experience here. I’ve also gotten cuts here that I’ve been very happy with. Prices are also totally reasonable.

Love this gem. They are so cool and unpretentious! I have anxiety about people cutting my beautiful curly locks and with Rapunzel Rapunzel I was at ease. So cute, so well priced. Just do it! You will be satisfied and leave feeling like a new womyn.

Rose is simply the best… she gets curly hair and you leave with an excellent haircut. If you have curly hair and never had a good haircut(even at the self proclaimed curly hair experts — you know who I mean!), go to Rose. She knows her stuff!

I made an appointment to get a haircut with Mark. I was super nervous because I recently had a bad experience with another stylist. Mark was super helpful and incredibly nice. As I explained what happened before and what I wanted now, he listened and gave me his thoughts. And he was spot on! FYI. I have very curly hair(I’m Dominican). Amazing cut. Amazing protein treatment. Amazing Mark!

Marc is a hair wizard. I made an appointment after reading the good Unilocal reviews, and he did such a great job that I asked him to do my hair for my wedding too. He even came to the salon earlier than typical business hours on my wedding day to do my hair. Although I was initially sad to leave behind my great hair stylist in Manhattan, I am so glad I found this wonderful place right in my new Brooklyn ‘hood.

Rose was speedy honest and great! My neighbor recommended rose as I have long curly hair. I’ve been dragging my feet to get my hair cut because I had a feeling it’s be chopped. Rose was honest about how much to take off and my hair looks great and still has length!

First off I was nearly 45 mins late to this appointment and was afraid that i would have to reschedule. It was a bit tricky for me to get there but really R train is ur best bet even if you have to travel through NYC. Ok so back to my experience… I have extremely curly hair like 3c-4a or as Rose put it a 9 from a scale of 1 – 10. When it comes to getting my hair cut, I dread it. I usually read all the reviews on a salon before making my choice. I choose this place both cause of the price and the positive reviews. I had set up my appointment with Mark and was nervous like crazy as the day drew near. Cause of the type of hair I have I’m super picky about who cuts it. I had this stylest from another salon I’d normally see but since she moved out of state it’s been hard to see her when she was back in town. So for over a year I went with out cutting my hair. Also now I’m going to beauty school so I’m even more aware then I was before. I pay even more attention and ask more questions. Once I explained that to both Rose and Mark, it was like getting a curly lesson from both of them which I was thankful for. Mark listened to my concerns about not chopping off the length that I so desperately wanted to keep and both of them assured me I didn’t have what I was told a «triangle shaped cut». He fixed and adjusted the shape without taking off much. In the end my hair looked amazing even later on when my classmates straighten out my hair. I had explained to Mark that I wanted to wear my hair both ways. Point is that I’m coming back in August. I’ve found my favorite place for a haircut ^_^

After a ridiculous amount of research, I nervously chose Rapunzel as the place for my long awaited(almost a year and a half) trim. I was really looking for somewhere that would meet the following criteria: –Under $ 50(I only want a trim, and I’m just not willing to pay more for something that does not require that much time or expertise) –Stylists that listen to clients(I’ve been growing my hair long for my upcoming wedding, and I was really nervous about a stylist«ruining» the length by getting a little too carried away) –Knows curly hair(my hair is super curly and its always better to work with someone that knows how to cut it — or at least is aware of the differences between cutting curly and straight hair) Rapunzel was definitely the perfect place for me. I was able to get an appointment with Mark on the same day that I called. He was friendly but professionally, and listened to what I wanted while also giving me advice. He slightly restyled my hair and DEFINITELY got rid of all the split ends, but overall kept the length I wanted. My hair looks way healthier and better and I’m not worried at all about it being too short for the wedding. Even though I didn’t want a blow dry, Mark still dried it slightly with the diffuser, which was nice because it was FREEZING today! The price for a women’s cut is $ 48(before tip) and all their prices are posted on the wall and on their website. This matters to me because there’s no worrying or questioning how much the cut will be — its very clear and the stylists are very honest. I can’t wait to return for my next cut and have Mark change it up a little bit… I definitely recommend Rapunzel Rapunzel for those in the Park Slope area looking for an affordable, good haircut.

Just moved to the area and desperately needed a haircut. Went based on previous reviews and LOVE my new cut. My ends were terrible and needed some serious work. He went to town getting them off and adding some amazing layers into my hair as well. I have been getting so many compliments on my new look. Great location and the prices were amazing. I will definitely be going back.

I just had my haircut I couldn’t be more happy with my haircut. Rose really knows her stuff. She listened to what I wanted and understood my reluctance, after having a previous bad cut, which she could still see the results of. I felt very comfortable with her and could tell right away she knows curly hair, which in the city is a surprisingly lacking skill. Her prices are very reasonable and she doesn’t force any extra product or unneeded treatment. This may have been my first visit, but definitely not my last!

Rose was amazing! I’ve been to at least three other curly hair salons with stylist with fancy credentials and hands down, Rose gave me the best curly cut ever. She was also very cheap.

Rose KNOWS her stuff. Just walked out of the salon this evening(my first time) and I couldn’t be more thrilled! After a bad experience with Devachan in Soho, which cost me an arm and a leg, Unilocal led me to Rapunzel, Rapunzel. I was skeptical since I have very fine curly hair with tight ringlets, but Rose worked her magic and gave me the layers and body I’ve been looking for without killing my length. She’s funny, warm, and no frills – she didn’t push product, which is always a bonus. This place is a gem, and if you’re a curly girl, you MUST see Rose! Pure talent without the snobbery of most NYC salons. Lovely experience all around.

This is the first time, in my entire life, that I have gotten a haircut, and loved it so much that I felt confident letting it air dry, knowing that it would still look beautiful. On top of that, the service at Rapunzel Rapunzel is unparalleled. As soon as I arrived(early, by the way), they took me, greeted me by name, and got right to work. I told Mark exactly what I wanted, and he did just that. He talked the right amount, and was quiet when I wanted to be quiet. The whole experience was incredibly comfortable. *AND* it was so reasonably priced. And the place is absolutely adorable. Basically I will never get my haircut anywhere else as long as I live in NYC. By the way, I don’t usually write reviews, but in this case, I had to.

Really unhappy with my cut and highlights here. I have long wavy/curly hair. The guy, who was not very friendly or helpful, cut it all one length. Gone were the curls. Just a big frizzy mass was left. He also dyed two random chunks up front orangey/bronze. I asked for some light brown highlights. Fail. The salon was crowded, dusty, cramped and the bathroom was not clean. I don’t get why this place gets good reviews, it was really just not good at all. They were talking shit about people at other salons the whole time too. Save your cash(because it’s not cheap!) and go one block over to Delilah on 4th ave instead. They fixed the botch job I had done here and I am delighted with the result!

I’d like to give this place two and a half stars. Just a meh hair cut bordering on bad. My hair was cut wet so my bangs are 3x shorter than I like, I look like I have a bowl cut. I asked for some layers and for some thinning out. I don’t think either happened although she kept saying she did. And it’s just a weird cut. It doesn’t lie right and it’s just not working. As soon as I got home I had to rewash my hair. She just slopped shampoo and conditioner on my scalp and sprayed it off. The hair cut took a half hour. I felt rushed the entire time. I lost all this weight and I was so looking forward to a cute summer look. What I got is a bland weird bob with super short bangs. Hopefully it’ll grow out and I can find another place to get it cut. For $ 48 it’s a bargain but I left with wet unstyled hair, that I had to wash and redo when I got home. And now I’ll have to pay again in a few weeks to get a more stylish hair cut. If you are looking for a trim or just maintaining a look. I’d go. But to create a new look… I’m going somewhere else.
