Papa Leone’s is a pizzeria that has 2 sections– restaurant and fast food. I have been in the take-out /fast food area only and have absolutely no complains. Both sections have outside tables where people can enjoy the ocean breeze. Pizza selection is large, I like specifically the vodka and the white cheese. Coffee is always fresh. There is no zeppoles in the menu, they take only large orders. there is no Wi-Fi and there are TVs only in the dining section.

Props for the homage to Mama Leone’s, the old midtown tourist trap. That aside, this is a very basic local pizza place, with same decent deal you can all over: 2 slices and a soda for $ 5, despite the lack of competition in Manhattan Beach. The pizza might be a little doughier and a little saltier than over in Brighton(e.g., Luigi’s), but perhaps not by enough to justify the extra walk.

I had not been to this place in about 5 years, but by chance was in the area so gave it another try with a friend. Like before, this place is hit n miss. My buddies order looked and he said tasted great. I ordered broccoli with pasta and chicken … when I asked that they make the garlic well done, they charge me extra for that. I was really pissed. I asked that the garlic be made well done, because in the past the garlic was nearly raw. If I wanted chunks of uncooked garlic I would have asked for that. Disappointed 5 years later, again!

I used to come here years back when I was in high school and college. The food is pretty good and the owner is a very nice guy. Make sure you don’t order fried calamari because its horrible however their baked ziti is delicious.

This has been a favorite place for years to grab a slice of pizza or just crush for a quick bite. Today I stoped by to get ice-cream for my boys and when my kids came close to the ice cream fridges and started showing which ice cream they want(nothing out of ordinary or crazy), we were told that if they touch both of the fridges that stand literally right next to each they will get electric shock(no kidding). I raised a concern about safety of the environment and was told that it is completely normal request to ask kids not to touch refrigerators and for refrigerators not to be grounded(kids did not do anything at all or behaved badly or crazy). If that’s true, than it is not a safe place to be not only for kids but for anyone.

Normally, when you order a vegetable pie, you expect onions, olives, peppers, broccoli, and mushrooms. At Papa Leone’s, you get a few onions, broccoli, zucchini and… freaking carrots. All sitting on thick, undercooked, cardboard flavored dough speckled with some really bland tomato sauce and cheese. Did I mention this cost me $ 23?

This place has some of the best Penni alla vodka. The sauce is literally unmatched. I have tried different Italian restaurants and pizza shops and none of them can touch their vodka sauce.

Last of the true olé time Brooklyn Italian Restaurants & Pizza place since I was a teen! Make sure you bypass the still very good Pizza area, in favor of the side restaurant area… which is far nicer. The freshly made Pizza Pie was fantastic & well up to the standards of great NYC Pizza of 20 – 40 years ago… as opposite to most of Manhattan Pizza, which generally stinks! Besides the Pie, the Hot Antipasta plate was huge & offered a very tasty assortment of items(see pics). The Calamari was lightly battered, fresh, yummy, & non-oily(one of the best anywhere, including Coastal California). The only place that may exceed this quality is the local Anthony’s, which also has been here«forever».

Pizza was below average taste wise and above average price wise! It’s a freaken slice of pizza for Christ sake why does it cost as if it’s made of platinum?! Service was good, place itself is very cute. Has a very appealing outdoor seating garden. Over all very clean, but food could and SHOULD be better especially for that price

Pizza is ok, but not delicious, just plain, like whoever made it really didn’t care how it would taste. The prices are crazy. I get it that its the only pizza joint around, but does that make it ok to charge whatever. The guy behind the counter serves people based on his mood. Usually total asshole. I guess not have happy with his current job. Don’t want to go there, but have no choice. Geography.

Their pizza is really good. I ordered a personal brick oven margarita pie which was very good but the food was just ok. I tried the fettuccine Alfredo which had a light milky sauce. I would definitely order their pizza again soon.

Although I’ve never really tried their pizza, I have eaten at the restaurant attached to the pizzeria. The food is very good, not excellent, but very good. The service is decent and the mugs of tap Peroni for $ 5 can’t be beat. The calamari is very good. Papa’s got knocked out by hurricane Sandy, but we will be one of the first on line when they reopen.

I always hear how good this place is but every time someone drags me here it’s horrible. The slices are OK but a pie tastes like wet cardboard with sauce and cheese. The chicken rolls are horrible and the Caesar salad watered down. This is based on three visits and a pie at a party here and there but so far each time I’m dump everything.

Not bad at all. Seems kind of dingy inside but a good, solid slice. I opted for the chicken and tomato slice and I left wanting a bed… I wouldn’t say it’s the best in Brooklyn, but it’s a good choice.

Now this place I didn’t see coming. You read the reviews here on Unilocal, and you here the usual pizza raves, complaints about delivery, and comments about the apparent owner. I guess people forgot to mention that this is one of the best pizza places in Brooklyn. First off, this place has a whole seating area outside, and while there isn’t a lot to look at besides traffic, its still a nice touch. While there is a nicer restaurant section of the place, the pizzeria/casual section where you come in has a very bare bones look. Not even bare bones as in a typical pizzeria, it looked more like a kitchen with some tables and chairs. Regardless, they apparently do homemade gelato, cannoli, cheesecake, and tiramisu. I did not see the little old man referenced in other reviews as the owner(and a recent newspaper clipping that was on the wall would suggest otherwise in regards to ownership, might’ve been his son though). but the staff was very friendly and obviously took a lot of pride in what they do. Regardless, I tried a fresh mozzarella slice and it was great. First off, the crust was light and flaky, and was firm and crisp underneath with nice flavor. The mozzarella I could tell was homemade, and while there was a bit too much of it I couldnt complain, as it was top of the line stuff. The tomatos were also top notch, but there wasn’t enough of them; combined with some good olive oil and some spices, this was a hell of a slice. I understand that the odd location has made some people miss this place, but they need to take notice. Its one of the best places to grab pizza in Brooklyn from what I saw, and also a step up from L&B(hey, outside seating, gelato, and great pizza? ehh?!).
