I wouldn’t even give a star to this place. They have the worse customer service EVER! I’ve been coming to this place since I was 6 and I don’t know where they went wrong. I don’t know if it’s the female employees they have and they are super slow or the place just doesn’t know good time management. I had an appointment at 1 pm today. I came in at 12:30… And I wasn’t seen till 2:30. That’s how bad it is. Do not come here. Stay away!

THIS IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL OPTICAL IN ALL OF NY. DON’T GO HERE. I’ve been waiting here 2 hours and these stank faced workers haven’t even noticed me yet. The manager always has a stank face too, with her fake blonde hair, trying to look young. EVERY single person that works here can SUCK MY D*CK. Everytime I come here it’s the same crap. PLEASE HELP CLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN.

I cannot agree with the reviews on this site anymore. Everyone is correct and not an exaggeration. This place is the worst. I went the other day with my daughter for an eye exam and to order glasses. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes in front of the salesperson before she even acknowledged me! Next, I gave her my insurance card and she was unsure if they accepted it. Even though I checked with my carrier before going. Anyway, a half hour passes and I still was not told if my insurance was accepted. When I went back to the salesperson, she claimed that another person was checking. At that point I decided to leave because I saw her give my card to another person, who put it down and walked away.
I went to Cohen’s Eye which is two doors down. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted and the young lady was familiar with my insurance. She double checked that they accepted it and printed my details. Two hours later (because my daughter received contact’s training), we left with our starter contacts and our glasses order placed. This place was so professional from beginning to end. Please do not go to New York Optical! Go two doors down, the décor is just as pretty. But the employees are knowledgeable and professional.

The worst customer service ever. I go to get my glasses adjusted and I literally waiting 10 minutes to see if someone would assist me. I end up going to a lady to tell her why I was there for, she gets a man and I was still waiting 10 minutes after that, I end up leaving without getting my glasses fix, I am so upset. I shouldn’t have to wait 20 or more minutes to fix my glasses, as I’m leaving the lady ask me if the guy came out I said no and I continue to walk away she asked if I want her to call him I said no and walked away fast. This is every time I need to get my glasses adjusted. You people need to work on customer service asap. I paid $ 800 for my Chanel glasses here and I’ve been to this place for years and nothing changes.

Honestly the worst place and undertrained staff I ever meet each and every single one. As someone who worked in an optical herself none of these girls know what they are doing. And over priced as they can be. I will never be coming back here again. And no one should

I wish they had emojis instead of stars this place is horrible. If u live in the neighborhood u probably have no choice. So if it looks crowded then thats most likely the case. Customer service is an all time low u get better treatment from a homeless person opening a door for you asking for change. At least they have manners. You might score if u are of spanish decent. Ive been waiting for 2 hrs. They can not find my glasses. Mira. Or myra. Is the supervisor. She needs to set a better example for her employeea. I never experienced so much confusion and unprofessionalism at an eyeglass place. If your not going blind see your way somewhere else. If you desperately have to go in cas ur walking in to walls speak to indeara. (Maybe mispelled) update. They found the glasses under another name. after three hrs.

Wow, it is true, this place is really bad. Everything people are venting about here is true. I only wished I would have checked Unilocal before walking in. If anyone knows how to contact the owner, please share because this is such a horrible place — they need to be told.

If I could give this place less of a 1 rating, I would. I hate this place. The sales girls are whatever about the job, some were nice enough, honestly. I waited three hours to do a regular routine check, to which caused me to just walk out on. I only came to get the same frame I already had so I could put my own lenses into it, but the manager, Mayra (she is easy to distinguish cause all of the girls look like they’re in their 20’s, while Mayra is roughly in her 50’s), who is extremely rude and lacked basic intelligence, basically forced me to get an exam because she said it was time to do so even though I had done one 6 months ago, so I could have done without it. She basically was trying to get the insurance money on top of the frame money. Scam artist. If I didn’t have to wait so long, I would have just dealt with it, but she just added insult to injury. Later I met two girls that worked there previously and they told me Mayra is as bad to her new employees as she is to customers. She will layoff someone as soon as she can find someone she can pay less, and will not pay overtime, even if you stay over. They both reported her to some government agency. So she does have a file on her somewhere. It’s always a surprise what you find out about people…

I finally found a place I hate more than the post office.
My eye doctor unfortunately moved and i lost my glasses so I decided to go to this place because I thought it looked nice. The décor is very pretty and it seems clean. Well you what they say (looks are deceiving).
I stepped into the place and went towards two of the sales girls. I was waiting in front of the counter exactly in front of them and they did not acknowledge me for 6 minutes. One of them was telling the other about some guy. Well after they made sure they were finished, they finally did me the favor or turning to me and asking me «can I help you?» as if I’m inconveniencing them.
So after that whole thing, I have to wait for about two hours even though there was only three people before me. I started to get even more upset when I saw a mother daugther duo come in about and hour and a half of my being there and they left way before me. I guess I didnt have enough connections.
So i finally see this doctor who does a quick two minute test and tells me he is going to make some glasses that are only for reading. I’ve been wearing glasses since i was 8, I’ve always needed glasses for everyday but this guy who couldnt even pronounce my simple name is telling me that I only need them for reading.
That was the last straw. Seriously I just left. There are plenty of opticians in this city who won’t attempt to scam me like this place.
Just please, stay away for your own good

Im not sure if I could give this place zero stars so I’m being very generous by giving them one. I read a bad review before going for my checkup but ignored it. From the moment I walked in and waited 3 hours to be seen I should have known what I was in for. After the doctor finally saw me for not even five minutes (Shady #1) I was then rushed by the sales girl to choose glasses. I could tell she didn’t know what she was talking about because she flip flopped on the prices she was quoting. Good thing I printed out the details of my coverage otherwise I would have overpaid (Shady #2). She quickly wrote down my order then asked me to leave a deposit. Oops never mind you have to pay in full (Shady #3). I paid and was told I would get a call for pick up in 1 week. That turned into a month after which time I walked over and my glasses were there. No one called me (Shady # 4). They forgot to order the transition on my lenses (of course she didnt write it down as she was rushing to get my money). Another 2 weeks and no call. Im usually very patient but was fed up with the lack of customer service. I asked for a refund but could not get one because the «manager was out.» The doctor calls me the next day to say my glasses were in. 2 hours later the manager calls me to tell me they are not in and that the doctor doesn’t know what he’s talking about (shady # 5). I said I was tired of all the lies and wanted my money back. Manager very rudely said «look at your receipt — no refund» (shady #6). Another week spent in anger. My glasses finally arrived and I was told to be thankful they were able to get the transition on them. As if they did me a favor. It was covered by the insurance and that’s what I always get.
Bottom line… I’ve never had to wait 2 months for glasses. And have never been mistreated as a consumer until I ventured into this shady shady scam filled venue. BEWARE!!!
