I’ve been in here several times, and must say that the quality of this location declined significantly. My sister and I went in before the New Year and waited for assistance for half an hour until Celine (Selene?) approached us to ask us if we needed help. She said that she would assist us shortly and we continued waiting. She finished up with her client and while walking over to us, was asked a question by another customer and started helping her instead. We spent 45 minutes in the store un-​greeted and un-​assisted and finally decided to leave with what we had picked out ourselves.
When we went over to the register the cashier asked us if anyone had helped us. After replying «no,» she craned her neck over our shoulders to tell Celine that she was going to «give this one to her.» In no way did anyone deserve credit or commission for our sale. It’s also not professional to discuss that in front of customers.
I’m glad that this location is closed. The Sephora a couple of blocks away has much friendlier staff.

I always buy good things from here staff always remembers who am stellar experience. I will miss coming here misfortune to see them close up especially on new years eve.

Went to visit again over the summer and again, STELLAR experience!!! They are always willing to help, quick to answer any questions you have, do amazing makeup and always offer amazing customer service. The end.

Terrible customer service at this Mac location. I could not get assistance from a single employee in the store, in particular an employee named Celine expressed no desire to help me. Don’t waste your time with this location.

I was in last week. The manager, Kim, was so nice and so helpful. She went above and beyond to help us and find us the products we were looking for. She was also extremely knowledgeable about what facial products are best for what skin types and colors.

Love this store all the women here are helpful especially Isabel. She is amazing she knows how to teach you how to apply what you want and takes her time and doesn’t make you look crazy especially how eyebrow trends are crazy looking like the Nike logo she doesn’t do that she makes you look natural not a clown. She’s such a sweetheart I will keep going there and keep sending everyone I know there. Thank you for all your help and to all the girls for being so nice and sweet.

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at the mac store (152 Montague St, New York, NY 11 201) recently. I have been a loyal customer for a decade now and unfortunately I had to encounter the worst attitude last week.
I received a mac gift card on my birthday ($ 250.) Unfortunately while traveling I had my purse stolen, which contained the gift card. When I arrived back in town, I called the mac gift card customer service. They instructed me that I would be able to retrieve the card numbers from the store it was purchased. Last week I went to the store in Brooklyn Heights and was met with a rude manager that condescendingly insinuated this was a lost cause. She practically insulted me for wanting to recover the gift card (which was used once for a $ 50 purchase.)
I cannot fathom that this matter cannot be rectified considering the gift card has a number,
Sad Customer.

The people at the store are really nice, they always greet me when I come in. I wish that I got the guy’s name, but he helped me with a foundation, and the match was perfect. He even told me to go outside the mirror to make sure. Everyone was very helpful. I prefer shopping at the store then going to Macys because they always seem like they are doing their own thing.

Of all the MAC locations in the tristate this is my favorite location of them all. From the moment I step in the store I am greeted and i felt very welcome to be there. They offered to help but they were not pushy and aggressive. the Store manager Stephanie was very personable and knowledgeable about MAC products. She suggested a quad instead of getting 2 separate eye shadows. This recommendation helps me to get a bang for my buck. I was really impressed by the customer service. I cant wait to go back. The Mac store on Montague is simply the best.

I went there for a party makeup and I made an appointment before. When I got there, I was in hurry cause I had a wedding to attend at long island, which I mentioned while making the appointment… but they made me wait for 15 minutes. I was told Isabel will do my makeup .and she was walking n gossiping around the store with other clients (these clients looked like regulars, they were talking about FB and blah blah) she wasn’t very warm and didnt listen to what I wanted. while doing my make up she was gossiping with some other clients (clients who didn’t buy anything) they were almost in my face. had a very awkward experience! …When I saw my make up I told her my eyebrows looks different they don’t look symmetrical. she told me «its more natural»! I dont know in which world asymmetrical eyebrows became a trend! And after I came out saw my makeup in the natural light I found out I look like a mirror … She put soo much bronzer, highlights and shimmer. my skin became glossy, whenever in the wedding people took pictures with flashlights, I shone like a bright star!!! Almost everyone in the wedding asked me one question. How the hell I became soooo tanned in February??? Lol. Which I told Isabel after she showed me my face …(she did my make up in d opposite side, where there was no mirror to look at) I said it’s wayyy to dark for my skin color. She said no u look perfect … Nyways the whole ordeal cost me $ 55 (for the weird makeup) +15 $ (for lashes). In the end they gave me a free mascara (u can choose anyone of them) …mmm I dont think I will go to this place again but MAC should have better customer service and train them to be more attentive to all of their customers, whether they konw them or not, like them or not!!!

A MUA named «Shy» is the reason why MAC Cosmetics on Montague gets 5 stars. On my last visit a few days ago, she was so bubbly, pleasant and patient while making me over. Shy made me feel confident that I CAN apply my own make-​up without looking like Miss Piggy in Drag when I’m done. Shy even prepared a step by step instructional sheet for me, detailing which makeup products to use and how to apply the ones I’d just bought. MAC of course is pricey but women like Shy make a woman feel really good about purchasing a whole day’s pay worth of products. This MAC is cute, boutique-​ish and much easier to handle than the MAC counters in really busy malls and department stores.

This MAC sucks BIG time. If I could give zero star, I would. The manager with the tattoos on his neck, arms, has two gauges in his ears and typically wears a baseball cap is so mean and rude! No lie! I watched a Youtube video about how MAC was racist toward Asians and I didn’t believe it until now (I’m Asian btw).
They matched me the wrong foundation color. When I came home I realized it was way too dark. I used the foundation 1 pump and the rest were brand new, unused, unopened. I actually bought the whole set of foundation, concealer, powder etc. I went back 4 days after for a simple return. I paid cash for my items and expected my cash back, but he decided to give me store credit instead. Whats up with the statement at the bottom of MAC receipt «we will gladly accept a return/​exchange within 30 days»
I wasted 20 mins arguing with him and gave up. I went on
and checked their in store return policy. It said «REFUNDS WILL BE CREDITED TO THE ORIGINAL FORM OF PAYMENT». I don’t understand why he refused to give me my original form of payment, which’s cash. I did nothing wrong, had a receipt, brand new items, I don’t know why he gave me such a hard time. He didn’t even give me a form of In store gift card either. He gave me a piece of receipt and told me that’s a store credit. He also had the nerve to tell me that if the receipt numbers got rub off, I won’t be able to buy anything, it’s your loss. He said he’s manager and he can do whatever he wants. I decided no point of arguing with stupid. I called MAC headquarters and they will give me a check instead.
Whatever you do, tell your mothers, daughters, and friends DON’T go to this MAC. They are the worst in customer service I’ve ever seen in my 30 years of living. After my experienced with this MAC, I don’t think I will ever shop at MAC again EVER.

I am completely surprised by the positive reviews of this store! I don’t know if the sales people (oops I mean «makeup artists») at MAC are told to be bitchy to the customers or if they are all like that naturally. Maybe MAC likes to hire such people because intimidating and bitchy seems to be their «schtick»?! Why do I bother especially now that Sephora is around the corner? Might as well just enjoy my VIB status over there and forget MAC. Nasty, nasty attitudes.
That being said, there is one very sweet makeup artist over there. He’s a lovely tall black guy who hopefully will realize his potential and get the hell outta that place!

I been here
was my first time for this location. For personal i love mac cosmetic good quality. But this location is fuck up. They have terrible staffs! Since i walked in NO ONE SAY HI TO ME, NO SUGGESTION, NO HELP !!! All staffs ignore costumers, they just talked to each other. This is suck. I been to another locations they are so nice and helpful altho they are busy.

If the store isn’t too busy, you’ll have an easy time here. Great selection, though pricy… But thats what you get when you shop on montague street!

So happy and Loving Christina im Unilocaling as i walk away from rhe store… got there shortly before they closed she was working with someone else and me and at no time did I feel neglected there was a lipstick on a ad I wanted to know what it was and well with a lipgloss and a lipstick she creates the color! Her personality rocks and she really makes my experience there pleasant and at 7 still helped me and didn’t rush me out although they close at 7! $ 254.00 later I love all my colors and really appreciate Christina

The best MAC experience Ive had!
No pressure, open and inviting… So rare!
I only dropped by during my lunch hour just to «browse» new stuff and they were very encouraging, nice, friendly and down to earth.
5 minutes in, one of them was sharing life stories with another customer who was also obviously having a great time. I was only there for about 15m but was approached by 3 of the 4 people working there (non pushy at all, they were just checking in on me).
Its a small store but clean, well organized and straightforward in its presentation. Powders are organized from sheer to mineral, brushes line the right wall in clean beakers, liners on the left, theres a makeup combination booklet at the front to browse through for ideas, and the sample palettes are clean (and Not thickly caked over with grease), Id brought my own makeup brushes to try things out and they encouraged it.
I enjoyed it very much and I look forward to going there again!

The location is great — I love Montague street to bits, ever since I used to live in this area.
Store is clean, easy to navigate, and the staff is super-​helpful with every selection and every request — be it to match skin tone, or find something hypoallergenic, or waterproof. Trying different shades on till you happy, finding perfect tones, and just having fun.
Love their product and the service at this particular store is excellent.

Hands down, the best MAC store I’ve been to in NYC, and I’ve been to several.
Had a great makeup application in here a couple of weeks ago and did not feel any of the annoying «salesperson pressure» — which in turn, led me to come back for an, ahem, follow-​up purchase this week.
EXCELLENT customer service here. Very friendly, NO pushy-​salesperson act, and super professional. Love this store. Had great help from a gentlemen who matched me up with some foundation tonight.
Really great vibe here and some of the best, friendliest salespeople I’ve encountered in NYC so far. So pleasantly surprised!
