History
Established in 2014.
After years of pounding the pavement throughout New York city and establishing vast routes in the wine distribution end of the business, entrepreneurs Francisco Villaronga and Giuseppe Monastra — longtime friends and colleagues in the world of sales — decided it was time to open a shop of their own. Giuseppe, originally from Sicily, and Francisco, born in Puerto Rico, have always had an affinity for the unique, and both having strong international influences, the cozy, intimate space on Henry street in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens (formerly owned by neighborhood favorite Dominic Tutrone) was a perfect fit. The new ownership has broadened the shop’s horizons and created a one-of-a-kind selection of top-caliber wines and spirits from around the world, with a specialty in the Italian, French and Spanish winemaking. Using their years of travel and insider experience, the new owners have made a haven for anyone who appreciates the craft and history that goes into a glass of wine.

Francisco and Giuseppe.
Business Owner
Francisco, having worked a high-intensity sales route in Manhattan for over a decade and through his time as the proprietor of a restaurant in his native Puerto Rico, decided he was best suited as a shop owner, specializing in smaller production, estate-grown wines and spirits. His passion is in the breach of the Old and New World of wine that can be found in Spain & South American regions; he also is an authority on tequila, mezcal, and the Fania record label.
Giuseppe hails from Sicily, and brings with him an extensive knowledge of Old World wine, his specialties being Italy and France. He is a champion of the small producers, preferring the painstaking attention to detail, old world viticultural techniques and rich historical tradition that can be found only in wines and spirits that never become mass produced; he prefers the diamond in the rough bottle and the shop’s selection reflects this entirely.
