History

Established in 1954.

Bernie’s Glass was established by my father, «Bernie the Glazier,» who came to the United States after fighting with the heroic European Partisan forces for freedom during World War II by resisting the controlling Axis countries.

Leaving the chaos and destruction behind, he started a new life in these United States by opening our small neighborhood glass shop on Fulton Street on May 12^th of 1954 and set Bernie’s Glass’ roots in Bedford Stuyvesant.

Over half a century later, Bernie’s Glass is a third generation family business, with family on both sides involved in the industry. We create and install glass, windows, tabletops and mirrors. Our craft and finished products comes with decades of experience. Trained by my grandfather. My father, Bernie, and Uncle George introduced me to the skills of the trade. Even Uncle Benjamin on my mom’s side was also a glazier.
