Service was very quick, clean place only downfall was the salmon was over cooked seasoned beautifully but over cooked.

I went here a few weeks ago for dinner and found the food was fine, but not exceptional. Given the prices and décor, that was a bit of a let down. I ordered a lamb entrée (pictured), and the lamb was bit tough. The carrots were not 100% cooked through, so the potato/​carrot mash had a bit of a texture that I did not love. The chocolate lava cake was great, though it did not blow my mind.
Certainly if I lived in the area I would be back, but I don’t think this place is worth traveling to from other locations. It’s a decent/​serviceable establishment. The wait staff is fantastic. And maybe the issue was really with what I ordered. But overall I had a good time, but didn’t leave feeling I loved the meal.

Go here for the atmosphere, not the food. The vibe is fun, so would probably be ideal for a group brunch. I went with my boyfriend and got the salmon burger, he had the crab benedict. We split French onion soup which was delicious. I’d compare it to a mediocre fratty brunch in the east village.

Came here last night for a friend’s birthday dinner. After walking past it, I finally found it nestled in between Nevins and Bond :).
Bacchus Bistro is a warm, inviting and beautiful modestly-​sized French restaurant with a fantastic rustic feel due to the vintage wood details, décor and ubiquitous candle-​lights everywhere. It’s very reminiscent of the bistros of Paris and being that I’m not often in this part of Brooklyn, I was excited to check it out.
Our group was given complimentary bread which I do wish would have been warm (I was a tad late, so perhaps earlier loaves were warm, but new servings given to us after my arrival weren’t warm either). It was sourdough and despite it being cold, it was delicious with a little butter.
As an appetizer, I ordered the Escargots au Beurre d’Ail Anisé ($ 9) which were snails in garlic and anise star butter. I love, love, love escargot and while these were delicious, they weren’t the best I’ve ever had. I slopped up some of the butter with their sourdough table bread… good stuff.
Another appetizer I got to try were their pan seared scallops on a nacho-​like chip with lobster salad. It was delicious.
As an entrée, I went with Le Hamburger Bacchus ($ 17). This was a Black Angus Burger with French fries & Pickles Caramelized Onions, Bacon & Cheese (Swiss and Cheddar were my options and I wend with Cheddar). I ordered my burger medium-​rare and it came out well done. I didn’t want to send it back even though they prepared by burger incorrectly, but I did ask our waitress for a side of mayo, hoping that it would help make the beef juicy — but I never received it.
This was one of many instances with our waitress where customer service could have been better. So poorly prepared burger (the meat was tasty, but it was dry) and no side that I asked 2 different people for. Mmmkay, thank goodness for the crispy bacon. The fries that came with my meal were delicious, but nothing special or pomme frites-​like.

A few other dishes I got to sample were:
+ Joue de Boeuf Façon Bourguignone — Beef cheeks «Bourguignon» braised in red wine with potatoes, bacon, mushrooms & cippolini onions — the broth for this was divine and the beef tips were super tender. Very flavorful.
+ Dorade & Ragout Automnale — Pan seared Mahi-​Mahi filet over sweet-​potato hash brown Crab meat, scallions & lobster sauce. This was a dish where I really only tried the broth/​lobster & crab sauce. It was delish.
+ Mussels Marinière: Garlic, shallot, white wine sauce. The Mussels were delish and the broth here was also fantastic. They have a $ 15 All-​you-​can-​eat Mussels special here on Tuesdays that I am ABSOLUTELY coming back for. I can eat Mussels all day, err’ day!
+ Tagliatelles Fraiches de la Mer: This was the dish I was in-​between ordering but I ended up going with beef because I felt that I could use the iron and it had been a really long time since I had last had a burger, lol. This dish consisted of homemade tagliatelle pasta with sea scallops, calamari, clams, shrimps, mussels & Marinara sauce. This was easily the star of the show and probably the best thing at our table. It was freakin’ ridiculous. If I ever come back here again for dinner, this is easily what I’m ordering.

For dessert (after we asked for the dessert menu at least 3 times…) we ordered the birthday girl an order of Crème Brulee (apparently, this is both of our favorite desserts) and my best friend and I shared an order of them molten lava chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Both desserts were fantastic.
Overall, I really liked this place. Service is definitely an area of improvement and I’ll never order a burger here again because I hate my burgers well-​done — but I would definitely return here again, hopefully for their Mussels night!

I’m pregnant and was craving for eggs florentine. I’ve explained my situation and asked Albano if I could have a hard boiled instead of the pouched and he said «we can make a super well done pouched if you want». I felt very happy and welcomed

I am so thrilled to have found this restaurant after frantically searching for one in Brooklyn with a lunch menu that was special enough to celebrate Christmas with family at noon on Christmas Eve.
The mussels, hanger steak, burger and lamb were all deliciously rich. And, as expected, the bread was terrific.
After reading other reviews, I would avoid times when the restaurant was busy, but I suspect some were written by people who just want to keep this gem to themselves.
We found the service attentive and the ambience relaxed. The staff and décor were charming and the wine list was excellent.
I look forward to sampling more of the menu with leisurely lunches in the future and we definitely intend to make Bacchus part of our Christmas tradition again next year.

Fancy air with some hard rock tunes. They have French beer on tap and they serve their water from a nice but nondescript bottle.

Bacchus is a lovely little French bistro in Boreum Hill. The space is light, airy and warm, and there is an awesome backyard space that I can’t wait to visit in the summer months.
The brunch menu is quite large, with egg, crêpe, quiche, salad, and sandwich options. The food is all very good, though the crispy bacon could be just a tad crispier. And it should be noted that the bar serves only wine and beer.

Excellent choice for those going to or coming from BAM or that love traditional good quality French restaurant experience. The staff was warm and accommodating. We let them know we had 1 hr only to dine and it was no problem for them at all to seat us and serve wine and two courses. The Beef Bourgogne and steak (hanger) were perfectly cooked and delicious.
We will def be back and recommend to friends. Thank you for being so accommodating, especially because it was secretly my birthday too!!:)

Let me begin by saying that the service here is slow on a Saturday night — I mean really slow. My family and I came in for dinner on a Saturday night on October. We had previously come to the restaurant on Thanksgiving since my parents don’t cook and our meal was very good. However, when we came back, the food was good but the service was terrible. I’ve never been to a restaurant where they brought only a single person’s entrée out and waited 30 minutes later to bring out everyone else’s. Also, don’t order the hanger steak here — it was almost impossible to chew.

Stumbled upon this place while strolling through Brooklyn. We didn’t have reservations, but they kindly seated us next to their patio seating, which was nice. The weather was beautiful, so I definitely didn’t mind at all. The place is dimly lit and very cozy and romantic.
Service was great during my visit. Our waiter was very attentive and very cheerful. The establishment was clean.
As for the food: we opted to have some wine and appetizers. Didn’t order any entrees. The wine was good. The food was decent. Obviously it wasn’t memorable, otherwise I’d be able to give you a play-​by-​play on the food that I had ordered. Good, but not great — as far as their appetizers being served while I was visiting.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this place the next time I’m in Brooklyn, but if I’m in the area, why not.

I came to Bacchus with a group for my birthday, and was not disappointed. The food is decadent and fresh, and the service also great. We sat outside in the string-​light-​lit courtyard garden which changes from peaceful to lively when the sun goes down. It felt like we were just off a rue in France, not Atlantic Avenue.
We started with charcuterie «Assiette de Charcuterie», an assortment of meats and cheese (3 for $ 16) and chose from the daily selection: Serrano ham, a Camembert, and a Comté.
We also got the crab cake «Gateaux de Crabe» $ 12.50, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and crab-​alicious and tender on the inside. The sauces on the plate were a fiesta of spice and flavor.
For my main course, I got the self-​pronounced «summer vegetable gnocchi»: Gnocchi Au Fromage de Chevre et son Beurre de Sauge, $ 16.95. Literally so delicious with homemade potato morsel goodness and a rich sauce over fresh soft veggies and goat cheese.
I would highly recommend Bacchus to anyone looking to celebrate or impress a date in the Boerum Hill area. If you’ve got a pretty penny to spend, it is absolutely worth the price.

Pretty much my favorite restaurant thus far in Brooklyn. The service is excellent and the food is absolutely delicious. My husband and I went here for dinner on a Tuesday night and had the unlimited mussels. They give you a huge portion of mussels for every order you ask and they come in three different sauces. I got them with garlic and white wine and my husband got them in a dijon sauce. They were both delicious. I absoultely recommend this place, and sit in the patio area which is nicely lit up and very cute.

Bacchus is a very cute and quaint bistro in the heart of Brooklyn. It’s the perfect spot for small to medium size events (bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, you name it). My cousin had her bridal shower here last August, and everything went swimmingly. There is a great private area out back to host around 15 –30 people comfortably. On a hot summer day, the outdoor area was kept cool with shade, fans, and aesthetically pleasing fabric hanging from the ceilings.
The service was great — the staff was constantly checking up on the guests and refilling wine glasses (maybe that’s why everyone had a good time?). From what I recall, the food was pretty good too. I enjoyed the steak, particularly the sauce that it was cooked in.

PROS:
— Hamburger $ 13 Black Angus burger in brioche bun Served with French fries & salad. Burger was very good but fries were a no no.
— Saumon Sauce Safran $ 18 — Pan serard salmon filet over vegetable Juliene & Saffron sauce. Salmon was delicious as well however it wasn’t that filling.
— Le Sandwich de Poulet $ 11.95 (Chicken, lettuce, tomato, avocado & aioli on ciabata bread) I love the avocado and they were very generous with it in this sandwich. The chicken was alright. thankfully it wasn’t dry and it’s pretty moist. The aioli really made the sandwich.
CONS:
— Fries were SOGGY, BURNT, & RE-​FRIED.
— ate out in the backyard and there’s lots of FLIES/​BUGS flying around. In addition to that you have a carpenter HAMMERING about on the roof making NOISES while we ate. It was very disturbing. Couldn’t they have found a better time to fix the roof — e.g. before the restaurant opens for the day? We asked to go back inside to eat due to all the disturbances outside and we had a guy testing the speakers/​mics while we were eating and almost asked us to move from our table again. His testing of the speakers/​mics were annoying as well as a HIGH PITCHED NOISE WAS EMITTED and the speakers were right above our heads. Overall environment was not Good.

Bacchus falls into the group of Brooklyn restaurants that may have outstanding dinner (have never dined here), but simply want to be included in the Brunch Game (i.e. Olea, Madiba…) and it is *clear* that they don’t do it well.
The food at their Brunch simply does not deliver. But the backyard patio is lovely.
First, the bread. Totally stale.
Next, the coffee. They might as well have poured me some Maxwell House or Folgers. It was bad…
Finally, the Crab Benedict (Benedicte au Crabe): Potatoes were overcooked — stale and completely starchy. The bread was too hard and definitely not fresh. The sauce was pretty thick, lacked nuance and covered up the taste of eggs and crab cake. I couldn’t even tell you what the crab tasted like. Does not hold a candle to the Benedict you can get at Joseph Leonard in the W. Village.
I appreciate that they only serve wine and beer during brunch — another clue that brunch is not their forte, but a mere accommodation to us Brooklyn-​ites.
Will I go back? Sure… Their wine menu looked great and I could see myself trying out their dinner. Until then, their brunch food deserves 2 stars max. The extra star is for the great backyard patio since the ambiance during brunch is really important.

We love this place, and we wonder why we haven’t found it earlier. Though it is a relatively small restaurant, the layout was charming and there is potential for outdoor seating in the coming warm months. We came for dinner and after several rounds at the menu, we opted for the pre fixe options.
Everything we ordered: duck rilettes, escargot, hanger steak, twice cooked pork belly, apple tart, and cappuccino ice cream.
The apps came in the forms of escargot and duck rilettes. We weren’t too sure what rilettes were, but decided on it anyway, adventurous! We’re so glad we did. The rilettes were shredded duck in a sweet sauce served with bread. Layer it on sliced bread, and it was perfect. The escargot was oily but it wasn’t smelly, which was hard to do, so we appreciate it much.
Then came the entrees of hanger steak and twice cooked pork belly. The steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Nice crust on the outside, juicy meat on the inside. The pork belly was exactly what pork belly should be, half meat, half fat in a wonderfully refreshing sauce. Nonetheless, the fat did get to us after a while so we had to scrape it off and finish the meat with the sauces. Very, very enjoyable entrees.
Desserts were tasty without being too sweet, we couldn’t ask for better pre fixe options. The meal was reasonably priced and abundantly filling. No complaints against this great restaurant. It’s definitely a good idea to get a reservation ahead of time.

Dinner at Bacchus was much more authentic than I expected! The staff was French, the ambiance was romantic and dimly lit, and the food was phenomenal. By far the thing you should absolutely not miss on the menu is the beef cheeks in red wine sauce. The meat melts in your mouth and the sauce is hearty and rich, with carrots and other vegetables mixed in. Absolutely five stars!
The mussels were good too but not as wonderful as the beef. I tried the mussels au ricard — which was a creamy sauce made with large amounts of star anise. It was delicious and tasted of licorice. The mussels themselves, though, were on the small side and some were slightly dry. I have definitely had larger, juicier mussels in my life but perhaps it’s just what is available and in season?
For appetizers, both the escargot and the prunes wrapped in bacon were lovely, too. Overall this is definitely a 4.5 star restaurant. We really enjoyed it and will return!

I’m a sucker for French cuisine, with that said, Bacchus offers the best in Brooklyn.
There is plenty of wine, but you already knew that. Let’s talk food. It’s good, really good. The pork belly is nice and crispy, the escargot is good to go. If they’re offering clam chowder. Get it. Goat cheese gnocchi, whoa, I could eat that everyday. I could go on, but you should go try Bacchus.
