At Action Burger you can choose to eat like a Villain or Hero. Villain food is red meat, fried stuff & burgers. Hero food is grilled chicken, wraps, veggie burgers, turkey burgers & Salads. You can choose how you want to eat.

Action Burger is a family place to eat good food, talk about/​debate comics or super heroes, learn the history of comics, play old school video games for free, watch super hero movies & cartoons. The owner Vlane Carter (who also has his sci-​fi novel series BIO-​Sapien) creates and designed all the unique foods at the restaurant.

We specialize in seasoned hamburgers that taste unlike any burger you ever had. You can choose to eat like a villain or superhero.

We have card game & board game nights, movie nights, Smash Bros nights, Guitar hero, Karaōke and dozens of other free video games.

Getting young people to read and eat healthy is one of our priorities. A Free ebook copy of BIO-​Sapien Novel will be available to all customers. We want to encourage young people to read and learn more about science.

Action Burger Inc. is owned by Erica marcelo & Vlane Carter (creator; author/​art director of the BIO-​Sapien/​BIAlien comics/​novel series).

We make deliveries. We also use online delivery services like Grubhub & Seamless

History

Established in 2012.

Action Burger was first started by Steve Bala in 2008 with another partner. It didn’t work out and the business failed.

In August 2012 Action Burger was reborn & teamed up with «VC Imagination Factory» & «EMI» (Evolved Marketing Ideas) (Both owned by Vlane Carter). Characters in Vlane’s BIO-​sapien (Bellona, Marco, Jaden, A.I. & Bomani) series are implemented into the food menu.

Partner Erica runs the day to day operations and manages restaurant. Vlane is the ideas guy, marketing manager, event organizer and handles promotions.

Vlane sells his comics & novels at the restaurant and through various online sources. His novels won awards and praises through Kirkus discovery reviews & Clarion book reviews.

At Action Burger good food, entertainment, conversation and excellent customer service are our specialty. We spent alot of time perfecting the seasoning for our burgers. Our burgers taste unlike anything you’ve had before. Our onion rings are big and our french fries are fresh cut.

When you come into our restaurant we want you to feel at home. We want you to enjoy our décor and ask for Vlane or Erica, anything about comics or super heroes. I would be more than happy to start a conversation with you.

Ask Vlane anything about science fiction, space or green technology.

His novels/​comics has messages of saving Earth and going green.

The BIO-​Action menu has characters from his series.

Vlane will sign and autograph a copy of his comics/​novels, when he is at the restaurant.

Cool idea. The place is interesting inside/​and pulls a lot of people in. Great place for people who are into comics, gaming. But the food is a little heavy. And burgers are fatty.

It’s perfect for when you wanna watch a star trek marathon blitzed out of your mind, the burgers and shakes and soo decadent. The nachos aren’t really worth it, but the sweet potato tots are orgasmic.

Man, a lot of you Unilocal reviewers really need to chill out and enjoy life and stop stressing stuff like spoiled brats. This place is awesome. I came only because I heard people play Smash Bros. Which is my favorite fighting game. I also was told I had to buy $ 5minimum worth of food to stay and play for free. That’s was totally fine with me! I get to enjoy reasonably priced food and play Smash Bros with other people that were there. This place is great I had a blast. Would definitely come again.

I think this place doesn’t deserve all the 1 star reviews so I’m being a little generous with 4 stars. Let’s get this straight: if you consider yourself a foodie and doesn’t know what it’s like to get plastered and play video games while eating greasy food, then that’s where those 1 star reviews come from because the food is almost compared to other places in the area. However, the point IS to get plastered and play video games while eating greasy food. And that is exactly why Action Burger exists. It’s a unique place that totally belongs in the area because it’s an honest reflection of the owner in contrast to all the other bars that are serving kale on their bar menus paired with local craft whiskeys and ales dimly lit by Edison bulbs.

Order delivery for some burgers and they’ll shows up soggy, inedible, and over an hour late. You might try calling to figure out where you food is. The person answering the phone will be friendly, but clueless. You’re at the mercy of their delivery guy, who is stretched a little too thin, evidently. You might have better luck if you go there in person, but with the other superior burger options in the area, why risk it? The only things on their menu not made of oily garbage are the milkshakes, which are good, but not $ 10 – 20 good.

This place is so grimy, haha. Burgers are nasty, but if super late and your drunk and trying to get more drunk and eat weird stuff in a strange place that reminds you you need to go home now. This is the spot. Open late so you can eat great.

I felt compelled to write this when’s couple of European tourists of indeterminable origin asked me for directions to this horrible excuse for a burger joint. I asked they «why on earth would you go there?» And was told «because zee Unilocal zaid it vas best in zee area» so of course I denied them directions and redirected them to Mothers.
Action utilizes a small, poorly decorated, over lit restaurant and 3 arcade machines to attempt to convey a «video game brand» of burger shop. Pathetic.
Note the games are for people ordering food and drink only, it’s stated on a giant sign that almost obscures the screen of the most accessible game. And it clearly specifies «$ 1 soft drink does not count» so guarantees you’ll be thrown out if you ordered food but your friend wasn’t hungry and the two of you want to play a game together.
It’s a «mystery» why anyone would think their low quality burgers are worth eating (I’ve had multiple friends report food poisoning from). I remember when this place opened and I yearn for the day it closes.

Wow. So, it seems the owner of Action Burger is apparently a psychopath who takes all negative Unilocal reviews as personal attacks, spewing half-​page-​long flames in response, including bizarre veiled threats. You really wanted to lose that last star, huh?
Look, I never said I ordered or drank any of your overpriced milkshakes. All I mean by my review is that I feel your menu has become a little too weird, and this has dissuaded me from ordering as often. I see a $ 19 milkshake on a menu, and that simply makes me go «WTF?» (and yes, I’m looking at your website right now, and there is still a $ 19 milkshake listed on your menu that doesn’t contain any alcohol.) It could be the best-​tasting thing in the world, but I would still never order it for that price — and that’s the crux of what I’m trying to say.
Sure, you have a right to serve whatever you like, and charge whatever people are willing to pay for it. All I’m giving is my own opinion — that’s all. You can agree or you can disagree, but there’s no reason to be so angry.
As for including my reviews in your published materials — sure, whatever you say — but I honestly don’t see why you would. (Unless it’s the hip thing now to make sure people are reading negative reviews about your business?) You pointing this out just reads as a threat, and makes you sound unhinged.
Your potential customers, as always, can make their own judgments.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. After a Unilocal event, another Unilocaler and I were headed to the train when my friend pointed out Action Burger. She had heard it had the best burger in the city. The haphazard signs and mom and pop vibe of the exterior made me think she was probably right. As we both stood outside and discussed if we were hungry, we started to actually read the menu and notice the video game theme. Upon realilzing this, we had no choice but to go inside. We discovered a couple of tables of teenage, twenty and thirty-​something men huddled around tvs playing video games together. After we ordered, we were told we could play games until our food was ready. We found an old-​school Mortal Combat arcade game to occupy ourselves.

My first time in NY and my best friend recommended that we try here. Being a major foodie and game nerd, I was absolutely ecstatic about trying the place out. The concept is amazing, granted it looks sort of dumpy inside. But hey, hole in the wall locations generally tend to boast some of the tastiest flavors. I actually had to sign up and review this place.
I personally love the whole fresh ingredients thing, and I expected as such considering the prices. It wasn’t anything worth getting salty about, especially when you have a serious case of the munchies. But wow, maybe just a little bit more seasoning would have saved my burger’s life. I actually had to dissect it and add some of my own seasoning when I got home because I couldn’t deal with it being *dry* and flavor-​less. I guess they thought the cheese and toppings would compensate for the lack of flavor, but sadly it didn’t.
I had the pretzel burger btw.
So, I can’t eat my burger, not really. I take a few bites and wrap it up for later. I figure I’ll just eat my fries instead and tied me over until I can get back to my friend’s house. WRONG! Now, I’m a big potato lover. I looove, fresh cut fries and I’ve had my fair share of «We left these in the grease too long» batches. Sure, they’ll be floppy and greasy, especially if you let them sit in there too long, but still edible. :(Sadly, mine not only had that floppy and greasy texture, but it tasted like OLD grease. Like they’d just left them in there to soak with all the grit for a while because they couldn’t be bothered to turn up the heat. I personally hate sending food back but I absolutely had to ask them if they could toss me in a new batch of fries. The cashier looked so irritated and done with me that I just sort of sunk down a little in pink eared shame. I’m a southern girl, we’re nothing but friendliness down here. I’ve heard about NY attitude but wow…
I feel like a lot of the better ratings on here are because of the atmosphere. You get to hang with your kind of people. Comic book fans, avid animé watchers, gamers! And I love that, but my food was lacking something fierce (I never did get that batch of fresh fries btw. My politeness was completely taken advantage of and I was told a firm, repeated twice no and that my food was fine). Just be wary about your food. Maybe I’ll try it again, but it would definitely be off of my friend’s plate.

The burgers (the only menu item I’ve sampled thus far) are pretty average. But that’s entirely beside the point. This place is a magical little hole-​in-​the-​wall example of the kind of spot that gives hope that NY can still be «cool» amidst the influx of Five Guys and Dunkin.
Upon entering, I knew I’d found «my people.» Comic book covers line the walls, dioramas of miscellaneous action figures are proudly on display, and the screen on the wall appears ton constantly screen Marvel movies and others of that ilk.
The restaurant was pretty full of dudes who were clearly regulars — and I mean who *wouldn’t* want to spend their Thursday night playing (free) old school arcade games with a likeminded nerd-​tastic set?
10-​minute wait for my food you say? No worries. Take your time. I’ll just be in the corner whooping my dinner-mate’s butt in Mortal Kombat.

I am profoundly disappointed by both the food and customer service at Action Burger.
After submitting a delivery order and receiving my burger and $ 9 order of fries, I called to complain that the fries were over-​cooked and soggy. The actual issue is that the fries were cooked in oil too cold, for too long a time – I have previously been the cook in a diner, and would happily pass along the following note – keep your fryers at 160 – 165 degrees. It’s really not that difficult, I promise. Use the $ 9 I paid you for these soggy fries for an infrared temperature gun, so you never make this mistake again.
The person who answered the phone offered me a free side next time I ordered, as «the kitchen is backed up» and they «didn’t have the time to send a delivery guy for one order of fries». This is absolutely atrocious – clearly this business doesn’t consider customer service issues from the customer’s perspective. It is not my fault that the order was of poor quality, it is the onus of the business to satisfy their customers. I should not need to wait in order for my issue to be resolved. The business should be bending over backward to satisfy me.
I can’t honestly believe they expect me to order again in order to receive a free side of absolutely atrocious quality fries, covered in garlic salt in lieu of actual garlic.

After trying to filter through places that delivered some good late night food at midnight, and another place failed horribly (*cough* OMG Pizza *cough*). Action Burger came through!
Called Action Burger from the hotel room and so glad they picked up. Guy on the phone was really nice as I ordered the «Midnight Special» (Action Burger with fries & soda) and my boyfriend got the Pretzel Burger, double fries and mozzarella sticks. I wanted something sweet but they said «they have ice cream and will melt» so okay cool. Thanks to all the Unilocal peeps who posted pics and especially of the menu!!!
I’m giving this place 5 stars for answering the phone, taking my order pleasantly, delivering quick with the order right and satisfying our tourist hunger!

I knew the food would be gross like, 5th grade sneakin’ shiz from yo moms fridge at 12 am… Sometimes it’s fun to do bad things, so, go to action burger. I knew this would be good based on the amount of grease shine offa dat flash used in their photography. This place far exceeded my expectations. They spiked shakes so strong you spill dat all ova you before you even get a chance to finish it. It fact they spike whateva’ you want! Thank you, action burger. You iz what you iz and I love it.
I will come back to action burger but I won’t be sober…

Where do I begin. I took my family after going to the movies for what I thought would be a great and fun experience. Was I so freakin wrong and regret the 70.00 I paid for 3 burgers, 2 orders of fries 2 can sodas, 1 small milkshake and an order of wings. The milkshake was watery and horrible my husband disliked it. My daughters and son did not like the burgers they were like a mush made into patties and no seasoning. Then the 2 orders of fries were cold when served. And the wings were frozen wings put into a deep fryer with no seasoning and half ass cooked. When I returned the wings they were not even going to refund me until my husband asked for the money. The concept of the place is nice but the prices for the frozen half ass cooked food is ridicolous. If they were to get someone who can cook, not just fry frozen food, add seasoning and lower the prices then they might be a hit.
So I have to follow up on this review since it seems that my experience and my family’s experience was because we are Hispanic. I received a message from the owner who told me I should have gone to a Spanish restaurant. What a shame no wonder all the Caucasians that walked in were served before us. It’s ok this Hispanic and her money will go elsewhere.

Holy Hamburgers Batman!
There are so many options to choose from!
We ordered the Toragon, sweet tots, onion rings and boozy milkshake and were stuffed.
The Toragon was good, but not amazing. It was different from any burger I have ever tasted. The onion rings and tots were very good.
However, for $ 15 I expected there to be more ingredients in the burger. It looked nothing like the picture on their website menu.
Loved that they had Street Fighter here and the décor was awesome but some of the comics on the table were dirty with grease stains.
Although some people had problems with the service here, it was great when I went.
Overall, this is definitely worth a visit! :)

Although there is a good variety of ingredients, the amount of each ingredient was lower than what I expected. I prefer a better bread-​to-​meat/​ingredient ratio. I think it would be better if a different kind of bread was used, one that is less thick.
The new Toragon burgers sound amazing– that would be enough ingredients for me!
