Pilgrim Shoe Repair

I went here with my Italian and Swiss shoes for thin rubber sole on both and heel replacement on one and the opportunist behind the counter wanted to charge me $ 100, what is he smoking I wonder, stay away, he had a dry attitude as well!!! He also displayed no love for what he does, placed my older shows on top of my brand new deer skin shoes and removed both trees from the shoes.

THE WORST.
Once I went in to ask about a shoe polish and he ushered me out of the shop saying it was time to close.
I just called him accidentally (I didn’t know it was his store I was contacting) to ask him the following…
«Hi, can you repair a split in a leather boot?»
Silence.
«Um… like, a hole in the leather from being dried out for too long…»
Him: «I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE SHOES.» (And hangs up.)
I call back…
«Hi, I think we got disconnected… How much would a repair…»
Him: «WHAT I JUST TELL YOU? YOU BRING ME THE SHOES!!»
…Yeah, forget this guy.

This is the shoe repair place in the Arcade Mall, a Victorian era set of enclosed shops.
Hours are posted; closed Monday.
I’ve always liked the owner/​cobbler. He’s honest, and his advice is spot on. If he says it can’t be done, don’t push him Another cobbler may take on the job, but the results show, it can’t be done.
The store doesn’t seem to have much inventory, but the owner/​cobbler always been able to find the exact shoe laces and polish I’ve needed.
One last thing: he underprices. Many quick repairs are free, and if you wait instead of leaving your shoes, the cost is only a few dollars. Don’t be greedy and ask for a freebie, it will take away his generosity and your joy.

I took my daughter’s favorite boots there even though I was sure they were ruined. He was able to give them a new heels and transformed the boots to almost new condition. I highly recommend Pilgrim. Just wish he’d post hours

I failed to produce my tiny paper claim number, It got lost in a move. My bad– but REALLY? It’s been a year of me pleading, coming in (with my children) and you yelling «COME BACK WITH THE SLIP! COME BACK WITH THE SLIP!» He claims he cannot look at his two rows of paper bagged shoes to find mine. They all have finger poked holes in them so I know your system has failed you before, Shoe Nazi.
SO, You have a system where you CANNOT retrieve a pair of boots (PAID FOR) And you start getting mad at me when I have been offering to gently open them and staple them all back? He yells «hold that child please those things are glass!» *what things are glass? everything is dust and wood“
He throws his hands up, yells «too much time on YOU!» and turns to the grinding wheel pretending we are not there. My dear boots are there somewhere, paid for, and he simply refuses to get them for me. It’s been a year of me pleading– and I just found the same pair and size on EBAY for nearly $ 300. Do you think it’s him? I don’t think he’d be that organized– but I’m coming in again to show him. Call the police if I’m not back in an hour…

Terribly unpleasant guy works in this place and his service is very poor. Acted as though it was a nuisance to serve me. The place is close to my home and on the way home after I pick up my boy from school so it’s convenient and I therefore gave him 2 chances. My first experience was a bad one but I figured, meh — everyone has a bad day. This guy apparently is having a bad life.
There are other cobblers in the neighborhood and I suggest going to them instead, I know I will.

Very friendly and has done a great job each time. The only difficulty is the hours!

Well that didn’t work out too well. Surly proprietor + an awful job on both the soles and heels of a pair of shoes. The sole he used was not leather, first of all – it was some sort of cardboardish substance. Stitching was poor. All of that may have been fine, but the heel on one of them fell off before I even put it on for the first time! I would have gone back to try to get my money back from this yahoo, but I was traveling and needed them fixed so I had it done by someone who was competent.
Find another cobbler!
