Omni Bretton Arms Inn

We had the BEST breakfast experience ever. The service&food&views were excellent. The presentation of our food was so impressive&it tasted amazing&FRESH.

Wir haben sehr kurzfristig gebucht und waren angenehm überrascht. Nicht weit neben dem Hauptkomplex des alt ehrwürdigen Hotels mit einer ausserordentlichen Sicht auf den Mt. Washington liegt etwas weiter unten das Arms Inn. Das Essen war hervorragend und auch das Morgenessen hat keine Wünsche offen gelassen. Zu Fuss ist das Haupthotel problemlos erreichbar und lädt zu einem Sundowner auf der Terrasse ein. Wir können uns gut vorstellen, dass es im Arms Inn immer etwas ruhiger und gemütlicher zugeht, was uns sehr gefallen hat.

We only had one night in the White Mountains. The location of this hotel was perfect to explore the area, and we preferred Bretton Arms over the big Mt. Washington Resort on the same grounds. The Arms is cozy and charming with very attentive staff and comfortable furniture. It was also cheaper than the main resort — at half the cost. We checked out the main resort and found the bar area boring and seating areas around the fireplace were sad, with dull old saggy furniture — at a place that charges $ 700 a night!?! We checked out the Cave bar and were glad it was open after dark. Dinner reservations were not possible but we were happy with small plates and good wine at the Arms restaurant.
If we make it back to the White Mountains, I would find a more affordable place to stay. But the Bretton Arms was nice, quiet and cozy.

Such a fantastic stay! We happened upon the Inn by chance, I am so happy that we did! Charming, CLEAN, rich with a beautiful breakfast in an amazingly quaint dining room. It was just what you would picture a stay to be when visiting NH. I’m so glad that our original hotel that we booked was a dump and that Mt. Washington Hotel was sold out, otherwise we would still be in the dark about Bretton Arms Inn.
In short… quintessential NH experience; lovely, charming, clean and set amongst the mountains… perfect!

The townhouses are in total need of a renovation. Carpets were tattered and had burn marks. Kitchen floor was dirty. Gross’
The hotel breakfast was great and quite a different experience than the fairway townhouses. If they offer you these rooms, just say no.

My husband and I just came back from our mini trip to NH. And we stayed at The Omni Bretton Arms Inn. At first I was skeptical about staying at this one as opposed to the main Omni Mt Washington. Boy was I wrong. I was amazed by how professionally organized and run this place is. Every little detail thought thru. I did stay at quite a few 4 – 5 star hotels before, and all of them don’t come close with this one in a sense of professionalism of people who work there or small details that can completely change your whole stay. For the price we paid we got a royal treatment! All staff no exceptions very friendly, helpful, and what mattered to me not pushy (when we asked for any recommendations for the local restaurants they gave us real local restaurant and not a part of their own facility).Complimentary breakfast — seriously, I can’t remember better breakfast ever. Fresh orchids on the table and my cup of coffee never was even half empty. The thing I was impressed the most is that this hotel has its own charm/​character. When people call place charming or with character in 90% of the cases it means that place is old, squeaking floors, and it smells like… Oh well, this place is complete opposite. It does have history, charm, and character, but everything that supposed to be new and modern really is (bathrooms, linens, having bathrobes etc). Most of the personal is really young, specially waiters/​waitresses (both Mt Washington and Arms inn), but it seems like they graduated from the Harvard School of Hospitality top 5 of the class. And on top of that there is whole bunch of nice things to do in the area. We did Canopy Tour (*****) but this is separate review.
This is really far from all inclusive review for this place but we had a great time and I want to say thank you. I will recommend this place to all my friends and family and I will definitely be coming back.

Stayed here for one night and skied two days mid week fusing their stay and ski package. We have two kids ages 6 and 8. The inn was vey nice and staff was super, from the bell guy and reception staff to waiters. Bus service to the slopes was ver good as well, but I could see it getting busy at certain times of the day. We ate at Faybians for dinner as we didn’t think our kids were fine dining able after a full day on the slopes, and it was good food. The skiing was phenomenal. We happen to be there when it fell a foot if snow so powder everywhere. The kids are ok skiers and there are enough green and blues for everyone to have fun, with added ski between the slopes for added fun.

Gorgeous inn all around, would go back in a heartbeat. Staff was always accommodating and friendly. Grounds were immaculate. Couldn’t ask for anything more!

This was a nice, comfy getaway for a weekend in the White Mountains! My wife and I came here for three days on our honeymoon, and we were very pleased. While this lacks the pizazz and grandeur of the Mount Washington hotel, it is much quieter and more peaceful — this creates a nice getaway destination.
We dined in the restaurant in the inn. The restaurant gets four diamonds from AAA, and this is well-​deserved. As we are vegetarians, there were few options, but the chef kindly made some menu deviations for our requirements, and they were delicious. The service was excellent, and we got some great hiking tips from our waitress.
The rooms are comfy, and have been recently remodeled to «bring the outdoors inside.» Each room has a complimentary walking stick, which is a silly but nice finishing touch. Very comfortable and spacious beds, good showers, beautiful marble floors and surfaces. We received complimentary champagne for our first night since it was our honeymoon.
The staff at the front desk was always friendly and helpful, whether calling a shuttle or offering advice for our adventures around the resort. You receive full access to the resort amenities, but you don’t have to deal with the fuss of daily weddings or inebriated guests late into the night.
There are not many activities to do outside of the resort, but if you’re looking for a getaway in the White Mountains, this is certainly the place to choose!

I often wish Unilocal had ¼ & ½ stars (or +/​-​) to reflect just above or just below. Because they don’t, I often go down a star so as not to overvalue. So, in a perfect world, this would be a 4−¾ and, because this place is sooo good, I rounded up to 5.
Stopped at the main resort building (Mt Washington Hotel) first to check out the hotel, main lobby and bars. Beautiful and formal in a country way, and we were glad that we had chosen the less formal atmosphere of the Inn (on the same grounds, but in a different, standalone environment).
Excellent, knowledgeable waiter who took us through the wine list and wasn’t afraid to make suggestions based on what we told him we liked; and he was right on the money.
Two of us ordered the steel head trout, one the «surf & turf» (steak & shrimp) and I ordered the scallops (which the waiter described as the signature dish). The scallops were outstanding and the person having the surf & turf described it the same.
The steel head trout was a bit more problematic, as both of the orders were described as «salty». In fact, both of the plates (veggies, starch & fish) were salty. Our opinion around the table was that the food was prepared properly and somehow, on the way to being served, salt was sprinkled over the entire plate in a quantity which spoiled the subtleness of the dish. And here is where the restaurant really shined … a single mention of this sent the waiter & maitre d’ back to talk with the chef, apologies were forthcoming, and the bill was more than amply adjusted (all without us saying more than «the dishes were a little saltier than we thought they should be»).
To finish, we had 2 desserts, which were terrific, complimented each other and were shared by the 4 of us. Coffee was perfect and we happily got back into our car for the ride back to North Conway.
Oh, and they had 3 special treats, a pre-​appetizer for each of the 4 of us of a piece of CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON (yum), a pistachio sorbet to cleanse the palate and chocolate covered strawberries after dessert. Oh, did I mention this was Valentine’s Day? On the way out, they gave each of the women a beautiful long-​stemmed rose (did I mention sex-​discrimination … what about us poor guys?)?
Don’t miss this place if you’re in the woods of New Hampshire (or, like us, make a special trip).

I stayed at the Bretton Arms Inn this past weekend and was overjoyed with the visit! I would prefer to give a rating of 4.5 stars for the few tiny kinks we encountered, but overall it was a wonderful experience!
The Bretton Arms Inn is a cozy, comfortable inn, with a nice fireplace off of the lobby to relax and play board games and a small bar for cocktails. The staff was friendly and very helpful, despite the fact that my friend and I phoned downstairs with a dozen questions. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. There were several nice windows in our room and bathroom so we could watch the snow falling. Very pleasant!
Though the Inn is somewhat family oriented, it’s small and quiet so we didn’t have any trouble with children running all over the place. After skiing, we were directed up to the main lodge to use the amenities and it was a madhouse — children everywhere, including unsupervised kids in the pool. (I had to rescue a non-​swimmer from drowning and couldn’t find his parent anywhere!) I would NEVER stay at the main omni lodge after the brief experiences we had there!
I was pleased to see that there was a shuttle that ran between the Inn and the ski area, though as it turned out the «on demand» shuttle wasn’t quite as good as I was hoping. Since we went on a busy weekend, the front desk staff told us repeatedly that they wouldn’t call a shuttle for us unless we were in the lobby ready to leave. However, several times we waited patiently for a shuttle and, after boarding, were told we had to wait for other people that weren’t ready yet. This was a bit frustrating. But it was nice to be able to have a drink or two and not worry about driving back to the Inn /​not have to find parking/​etc.
I would rate the Bretton Arms Inn a 4.5 because 1) no jacuzzi… it would have been nice not to have to trek up to the main lodge and change into/​out of bathing suits after a long day of skiing, especially considering how noisy and crazy it was there. And 2) the shuttle service treated us like second-​class citizens. But other than that, it was a fantastic place to stay and I would go back again if given the chance!

Exceptional service from Carlin (sp?) rom South Africa, with help from a young man and a young woman, sorry didn’t catch their names. They were attentive without being obsequious or intrusive.
The chocolate-​covered bacon amuse-​bouche was okay, not something I would ever order. The grapefruit sorbet chaser was delicious. My duck breast with roasted root veg was perfectly cooked. My husband’s caramelized scallops were terrific. We finished with the fruit/​sorbet dessert, which was a perfect size for two. Raspberries, blackberries, some balls of cantaloupe and honeydew with that grapefruit sorbet and lemon sorbet. Mm-​mmm. Couldn’t finish but wanted to. My husband had excellent coffee to cap the meal — we’ve had great meals undercut by mediocre (or worse) coffee, but not here.
It came to $ 127 plus tip. We will definitely come back.

Had several breakfasts at their restaurant. It’s a quaint, cozy, quiet alternative to the main hotel, and the food was excellent.

We had a wonderful Labor Day w/​e at the Omni Bretton Arms Inn. It was wonderful to be able to bring our (small) dog to enjoy the w/​e with us. The Inn is absolutely charming and the resort — well, there are more activities available than you could possible fit into a weekend. I would definitely recommend this place for a great summer weekend get away with plenty of activities and great meals!

I recently stayed here on a ski and stay deal. I must say the experience was exceptionally good.
The reviewers that dis the Mount Washington Hotel because of its resemblance to the hotel in The Shining are so gullible and impressionable it is just sad. I think if some romance like The Titanic had been filmed here, those reviewers would have had different things to say. The Mount Washington hotel provides a vision back to a grand era. Yes it is isolated from North Conway but that is part of its charm. You want to stay in town, then stay in town and stop whining!
Maybe I was lucky. Maybe the staff and service has improved since the last reviews. I only know that my time was really really great. Staff at the Bretton Arms greeted me immediately and were very helpful and friendly answering all my questions. My room was capacious and very clean. Bathroom scrupulously clean and bath products very nice. Nice towels and terry cloth robes. And the wifi is complimentary!
I was a little worried about noise as there were several families with little kids in the hotel. My room however was very quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable. I slept like a babe.
I ate my meals in the Washington Hotel My meal at Stickney’s was great. I asked the recommendation of the wait staff. I wasn’t in the mood for a steak but the recommended pot roast was delectable. In the morning I took in the breakfast buffet. It was sumptuous and delicious. Provided me just the fuel I needed for a day on the slopes.
I had prepaid for the ski and stay package so there was no problem with the bill at all.
I was very happy and satisfied when I left the hotel with the two ski passes that were part of the package. My partner was unable to join me for skiing so I had the delight of giving my extra pass to a young mom who was putting her child in the snow school.
My time skiing was great. All the staff working the lifts and in the lodge were very friendly. I liked the diversity and seeing lots of youngsters from South America.
My only complaint is that the wait staff in the lodge bar restaurant did not seem to be very well trained (not quite attentive enough) and my Rueben was a little on the pricey side.
I didn’t really mind any of that however as it snowed all day. All of the runs were delightful. The glades were nice powdery soft bumps.
My wonderful stay in the hotel was topped off by one of the best days of skiing I have had.

ohh. they accidently charged us 3x yes 3 TIMES and they will get back to us. Big chain and take more than 2 business days may be. MAYBE get back to us about the 3x charges. i dont know about you but stay that place is not cheap and charging 3x… i can stay at 4 seasons for that place.

«I will be right back» That’s the sign that greeted us as we arrived 15 minutes after check in. Not a good sign. Our room was not ready. They did upgrade us for free to a better room.
I did sleep well. After I re framed in my mind that the noisy air conditioner was just the sounds of a rain storm from the comfort of a shelter with a metal roof.
Don’t eat breakfast here. Take the walk up to the Mt. Washington Hotel and try their breakfast buffet. You may even get to see a fox like we did along the walking path.
