La Fermata

Simply some of the best dining in Kitsap county. Although we came in a little more casual than the rest of the diners, they made us feel comfortable and welcome. The menu is intimidating at first, but once you understand what’s going on, it’s not a problem.
If you want a «oh, THAT’s what that was always meant to taste like» experience, come here. Just don’t think any other Italian restaurant will cut it after this.

We found this gem on Unilocal and after spending the day at Harrison Medical Center we needed a nice dinner and cocktail. It was perfect! Ambience, great music (not to loud so you could still talk), sweet server, and superb food. Wish we lived here because it would be a favorite.

Amazing food andr service, and a very romantic atmosphere. She provides a unique experience in Bremerton.

My husband an I wandered in tonight on our night out. We were greeted promptly and asked if we had a reservation. We stated that we did not and were given a bit of an odd look. I wasn’t sure why as there was only one occupied table in the place, but it’s a tiny space and they could have been heavy on upcoming reservations so we took our seats and settled in without complaint. Our server, Sam I believe, was very sweet and attentive. The inside is very cozy with just a handful of tables. There is «mood lighting» as to give it a romantic feel. A couple that sat farther back in the restaurant had to read their menus by phone light. We quickly realized we were extremely underdressed as other patrons began entering. This did not affect Sam’s service to us at all (and it shouldn’t but we all know how some people and places can be in this situation.) The bread and oil was delightful. The risotto and goat cheese balls were interesting but a little too heavy on goat cheese for my liking. I ordered the beet salad and the pan seared scallops as my entrée and my husband had chicken cacciatore. I didn’t enjoy the beet salad as much as I thought I would. Again, the goat cheese was a little overpowering for my taste buds. The scallops were perfect with a tiny side of risotto and a few vegetables. My husband enjoyed his entrée but agreed that the sides could have been a little more generous. We finished off our night with a poached apple dessert with caramel sauce. It was a very tasty treat. Overall, we enjoyed our night and left with happy bellies and a lighter wallet. For two drinks, one appetizer, one salad, two entrees and one dessert we paid nearly $ 100 without tip. I think for the price I should have been more wowed but I could see us returning again.
By the time we were leaving, only two more tables were seated and both had reservations. It was far from bustling but it is a very very small place so I would recommend a reservation just in case.

How did i not find this place earlier?! The bartender/​server was great! She went into detail to explain each wine and made sure we were taken care of throughout our time there. Food was good and the prices were what you expect (maybe even lower) from a romantic sit down place like this.
My only minor worry would be it’s near the Manette saloon. That place can get pretty loud at times.
This place is definitely a diamond in the rough :) Would highly recommend taking a date.

This is my favorite place but now I’m seriously questioning it… the Asian waitress was horrible. Rude, inattentive and just didn’t care about customers… I love the regular girl Arlene! What happend here??? I love blowing my pay check here. I mean loved… ugh

Did not like the service tonight. The server acted like she was so busy but there were no one here. Food takes a long time but added wait time just to get a server to come back to your table.

We took a charming walk across the bridge from Bremerton to Manette, and were greeted by the one server in the place. I was a bit apprehensive as the place was packed and I didn’t see how she would manage, but service was smooth and attentive. The food was excellent. I had a Pappardelle Bolognese pork/​beef ragout pasta that was a perfect, with just the right amount of meat, sauce, and wide noodles. My girlfriend had the halibut special, which she pronounced as delicious. A nice bottle of a Tuscan Red, and lively crowd made the evening very special.

We recently held a wedding rehearsal dinner at La Fermata and everyone had a lovely dinner. They had a nice venue that could accomodate up to 40 guests without additional surcharge for the space. Entrée choices included a chicken, pork, seafood and vegetarian choices. Two different salad choices were offered, bread plates and an extra good version of tiramisu for all. La Fermata was able to provide a variety of wines at reasonable cost and accomodate our small number of children without a problem. Service was very professional and the owner/​manager also cooked. If you are considering either an intimate or group dinner with great Italian cuisine, La Fermata is a good choice.

My wife and I have eaten at many wonderful restaurants in the Seattle/​Tacoma/​Bremerton area and none hold a candle to La Fermata in the Manette neighborhood of Bremerton. The atmosphere is intimate and romantic, the service is always personal and attentive, and the food is always perfectly cooked and flavored in the most amazing ways. We have tried a wide variety of food over the years, including braised rabbit, monk fish, scallops, prawns, lobster stuffed ravioli with saffron sauce, mushroom stuffed ravioli with white truffle sauce and the list could go on. My wife’s favorite is the duck and mine is the Oregon rib eye steak. Last, but not least, don’t forget the dessert. The crème brûlée is almost other worldly, with perfect creamy elegance, all covered by a caramelized goodness.

So my husband and I just tried to come to this restaurant where we have ate once before and had a good experience. They turned us away for inability to seat us. There reason: they only had two waitresses and one of them was a cook. Are you kidding me? Like that’s just poor management unpreparedness. They lost money and two customers. Heads up, better make a reservation for this low star restaurant regardless the time of day.

Lovely atmosphere, great service. We walked in, without reservations and were seated right away.

Loved the environment. The lady behind the bar was so nice and knowledgeable of the menu. Food was great and the prices are very reasonable. Will return.

This is the place you want for a special night out! It’s a beautiful intimate setting with great food. The selection of wines by the glass were exceptional and we were especially pleased by the offer to try a couple different ones. My wife found a dry white that was GREAT and I had wonderful red. The calamari appetizer was AMAZING also the iceberg salad. The lamb was cooked just right and the chicken dish was savory.

Absolutely marvelous dining experience! Each course was delivered right on time with a great deal of emphasis and attention. the food and atmosphere R most appropriate and very comfortable.

Wow, this is quite good.
The shrimp appetizer is out of this world, as is the scallop entrée. I can eat those two dishes until the end of time.
So what’s keeping me from a five star review? For starters, no pun intended, the meat and chess appetizer plate (charcuterie plate?) is just OK, as is the stuffed calamari.
I would definitely go back, and would highly recommend anyone in Bremerton to at least give this a try.

Food was pretty good, but the service took so long that I was mostly filled up on bread, instead of my actual meal.
Food takes a while. There was a total of 8 people in the restaurant, and to receive 2 small beet salads required 40 minutes of waiting. Our actual meals came around 15 minutes later.
Awkward. Perhaps it’s because the restaurant wasn’t packed. But, we had one waitress, and she created a awkward atmosphere. She hardly acknowledged us after we had thanked her. I’m most likely just being picky, but I didn’t really feel comfortable in this restaurant.
Food was iffy, I wasn’t impressed, but it wasn’t exactly bad either.

This is our annual birthday favorite, and frankly the bar any white table cloth place in Kitsap needs to shoot for.
In Seattle they’d be good, in Kitsap you’d be crazy to get Italian anywhere else and expect the same quality.
I like the apps and salads more than the entrees if I had to critique here. Go for the beet salad if on the menu.
This is a real gem, off the beaten path and not super well known. Cozy, decent scotches, decent beer.
Last trip I did the pollo cannelloni. I was fatigued by the time it came, the antipasti and beet salad totally outshined the entrée.

Excellent food. The beet salads were amazing. We had the anti pasta and thought that it was a really flavorful combination that was an excellent addition to the food. The interior is a little dark and dank looking but they did there best to spruce it up to be fancier than the somewhat sketchy neighborhood it is in. The service was great. The drinks were great. Don’t let the location keep you away. It’s worth a try.

Food was tasty, but not as exciting as the reviews implied it would be.
We had the prawns appetizer which I liked, and the special of the evening, Dungeness Crab Half Moon Ravioli in a saffron sauce. It was a bit too delicate after eating the very flavorful appetizer and I wish the waitress would’ve mentioned as much. My husband ordered the steak and enjoyed it, though the chef herself mentioned it may have been a bit overcooked (which it was but it wasn’t enough to bother sending back).
Service was pleasant, but we felt really awkward standing around waiting for our table to be ready. When you enter the doorway, you’re immediately in the seating area, so while waiting you feel like you’re intruding on your fellow diner’s evening. Since it was our anniversary, we asked the bartender if we could have a picture on our way out and she seemed put out by the request. I understand she was a bit busy organizing and cleaning, but the brusqueness of the whole thing put me off.
We might try it again after we’ve exhausted some of the other places I’m interested in trying in the Kitsap area, but I’m not counting the days until our return.
