I used to LOVE this place. I came in with my family tonight to discover that they had closed the main dining area to add more stills. The biggest appeal of this place for me was the family-​friendly atmosphere on that half of the building with the awesome garage doors. It felt a bit like Fremont. It’s also local, which was a huge draw.
Now, there is no one at the entrance at all and they have walled off the old dining room — it’s like a ghost town. Apparently the only employee working the joint now is the bartender. The family dining area has been relegated to a dark, creepy hallway right next to the bathrooms. I suppose you are expected to eat in silence with your kids and watch the drunks awkwardly stumble in and out of the crappers. Nice.
Is this place a family-​friendly pub, or a wannabe brewery with an adjoining dive bar? The beer has never been that great anyway. To whoever is running this place into the ground: good luck bro.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere, the staff, the food, the beer (according to my husband at least). We’ve been here for 2 ½ years and Der Blokken is by far our FAVORITE place to go ever. The best part of Der Blokken, without a doubt, is the server Marcus. He’s quick, attentive, fun, friendly, and absolutely amazing. From here on out, my husband and I will judge all servers on a scale of 0 to Marcus. If you haven’t been here, I strongly suggest you check it out!

This place is pretty sweet. Good prices, good beer, good food. The selection is a little small but they’re really good at what they do have. Got the poutine, mac n cheese, and chicken strips. The hot bbq sauce is on point. Mac n cheese is delicious too. It was lacking on the salt but I like salt so maybe I’m the weirdo here. Anyways, good place to come check out.

Shit service. First and last time going there. If this place has a goal to lose customers than they are on the right path with the two male bartenders that were there. They were complete asshole right when we walked inside.

Something happened. Their food and service have became pretty mediocre and their beer got slightly better. Im not as enthusiastic as I once was.

Started out rocky. Got passed over a couple times by two different servers after sitting down. Finally Tim noticed us and apologized for the wait. He seemed to be bar tending and serving and doing better than the other two servers. Our food was pretty good. The brown gravy was phenomenal and the French dip was super good. Wings are ok but not amazing. After eating Tim was on the ball again and managed to get our checks and cash us out in good time despite, once again, appearing to be the only bar tender. And just to clarify. We were not at all seated at the bar so he really went above and beyond.

If I had to rate by service alone I’ve been here ten minutes and can’t even beg for a water at this point. There is nobody at the bar and the one server hasn’t even acknowledged me. Do not come here for the sake of shitty service

Nice location, cool atmosphere. There’s a pub and a restaurant, they share the same building but there’s no common access, I found that slightly odd but certainly no big deal. I had the lager, which was light and clean but extremely over-​hopped. Again, no biggy and I don’t blame them for the trend, but I’ll be the first to celebrate when microbreweries finally jump off the lets-​over-​hop-​everything-​until-​all-​you-​can-​taste-​is-​hops bandwagon.
The bangers and mash was huge and phenomenal!
Personal hop addition rants aside, I recommended this place for some good pub grub and a cold one if you’re in the mood.

Meeting up with an old friend in the area for the weekend, and we didn’t want to cram into Red Robin like a couple of squares, so I recommended Der Blokken. The brewery is nestled into Manette, with a slight view of the Sound. It was a nice day, so the roll up door by the bar was open. A guy wearing what I imagine were three different outfits was playing for the room. The interior was small and clean, with a few of the table lined up for a group.
I met my friend inside and began to peruse their tap selection. The ones that stuck out to me were a 15% ABV Mexican chocolate stout and a highly rated pilsner that I had sampled. I’ll try their own stuff next time, I promise. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the selections. He recommended the pilsner (Scrimshaw, if it’s still there). After sampling their selections, we ordered their mac n’ cheese and chicken fingers. It was like we were 10 again. Our bartender would casually converse with us, but not so much as to be a nuisance. The grand total for my meal wasn’t absurdly expensive, even with the tip.
Der Blokken’s found the sweet spot for restaurants in the area. Great food, good cost and friendly service.

Oh how I love this place! Local. Fresh ingredients. And the poutine… wow! Yum! While the menu is not entirely vast, there is something for everyone here. Delicious burgers. Real grated parm garlic fries. Chicken fritz that if starve myself all day to enjoy. And the beer? There’s something to please even discernible pallets.

I’m not big on dark or hoppy beers, so I can’t really speak for their beer, but the food is always good and the service is great. Oh and they usually have a good regional hard cider on tap :)

Porter and Castover Belgian are the best current beers. Friendly and fun games free shuffle board and pool for FREE. First timers and we WILL be back.

First place I came to eat when I landed in Washington. I was over and beyond starved, with no idea of what I wanted. My host and his good friend took me here for dinner, I ordered the Mac N Cheese and was so pleased. Try the brownie it’s divine!
The service here was efficient and and everything was great. I will be back in Washington in January and I might drop by for that brownie!

Mixed bag really. One beer was good, the other not so much. One entrée was ok, the other verging on bad.
I had two beers: the Mutha Hefe and whatever they called their version of a Belgian Golden Ale. The hefeweizen was very good. The Belgian ale was excessively bitter.
The fish and chips, one of their specialties, was very mediocre, and was almost bad enough to send back. I was very hungry, so I ate it. Bottom line: the oil was very old. I could taste it especially in the fries. The fish was fresh-​ish and might have been good had not the batter been ruined by the oil.
My dining partner had another entrée and said it was good.
I can’t imagine going back there. But if you go, it might be ok, and then again…

Well now… This was an unexpected find!
We have been to Bremerton several times in the year that we have lived here and have never stumbled across this part of town. How fun!
Unlike a couple of brew pubs we have visited in the area, this one actually serves food. The menu had several choices and appealed to the four of us.
We sampled the sour beer on tap and, ironically, it was sour. We didn’t order a pint of it based on the sip we took. I settled on the cherry cider and really could have consumed at least a two liter of it but restrained myself.
The waiter was a little goofy. I am not a big fan of the pull a chair up and let me take your order approach to food service.
We will journey this way again!

Really love the feel of this place. Got their beer sample, which was pretty good. I really really enjoyed the stout. What’s nice is that they change their beers quite frequently from what I understand; unfortunately, sometimes their menu doesn’t reflect this (so try not to get too attached to anything on the menu!).
Our server was really friendly and attentive. Had a really hard time deciding what to get from the menu (so many good choices). Went with the veggie-​full pasta with pink sauce, which was good. Will definitely be back.

Der Blokken Brewery was a fun pit stop for lunch on yet another brewery run!
The service was very friendly and that was a plus!
I got the Red Ginga Ale. From the name it sounded like that there was ginger in it. If there was it was not too noticeable. Otherwise the Red was pretty good!
I really enjoyed what I had for lunch here! I got an amazing Meatball Sub sandwich which was huge and tasted great! I will definitely keep that yummy sandwich in mind!
The carrot cake for dessert sounded good but they were all out of it.
Too bad, another time perhaps when I am in Bremerton during the lunch hour!

Upon local recommendation I sought this spot out. The first thing I noticed was their parking lot is teeny, so street parking is your best bet. And second, several locals making quick runs inside to take home a growler of their fav microbrew. Once inside a grabbed a seat at the bar. I could not make up my mind staring at the giant wall of micro-​heaven, so the bartender was quick to offer me some samples to aide in my decision. I settled on a Belgian IPA. I must have arrived in the knick of time because no more than 10 minutes after I sat down, the place was almost full of locals. The 90’s alternative rock playing and dimmed lighting helped me settle in nicely as I enjoyed my brew.
Lets talk WINGS! Wednesday is WING night! 65 cents each sold in lots of five. I tried Teriyaki and their first notch of spicy the Spicy BBQ. Here they bake their wings then flash fry them for a crispy finish, which works nicely if you love wings but don’t like greasy food. The spicy BBQ was spicy enough to satisfy my adventurous side. They also have ‘Hot’ for the more serious and ‘Knock Your Blokk Off’ for the insane, which is almost straight Haberno I’ve been told. They were delicious wings. Not the best I’ve ever had but worth checking out if you are in the area.
I also had a small ceasar salad which was fantastic. And for dessert the cookie fritters. Imagine beer battered Oreos with ice cream. One of those WTH impulses! Deep fried oreos are amazing, who knew?
Altogether a great locals joint that I would probably frequent if I wasn’t just in town for business.
