Great little local place with excellent staff that is very courteous and pleasant. The food is really good, and you are made to feel very welcome. Our server, Erin, was great! Will definitely be going back.

Don’t let the outside fool you! This place has great food and a terrific staff. The food is very fresh and the portions are hearty. Treat yourself to great meal at a modest price.

Stopped by this place for lunch on the way to Tampa for some sightseeing. The bird name and décor is what caught my eye. This place has a good variety of food, so if you come with a group everyone is bound to find something they like. Pizza, Sandwiches, Salads, Tacos. I ordered the Rachel sandwich, which I LOVeD. I’m a big coleslaw fan, so I thought it was great. My date got the Pizza Burger which is pretty much a giant meatball sandwich. Pretty decent place, but could’ve used more parrots! There’s no such thing as too many parrots.

We ordered food from here to be delivered. Ordered wings, basket of sweet potato fries and Stromboli. The order was delivered in 2 parts. Stromboli was burned so they had to make another. So they decided to send each part when it was ready. Not great when trying to eat together. Sweet potato fries were mushy, did not have sugar and cinnamon as they were supposed to and the portion size was more of a side than a basket. Wings had very little sauce. I’d love to let you know how the Stromboli is but an hour and a half later I still don’t have it. We won’t be ordering again

It doesn’t look like much and it isn’t an exotic location, but I go out of my way to go here for lunch, or a snack, or a casual dinner. Its all about the service and the food. I feel special when I walk in, because the servers make you feel like they really want you there! The food is also quite excellent and there is a large, but not a huge menu.
We had the fish tacos and caramel cheese cake; both were superb.
And, the beer and wine is very reasonable!!!
I’d have given this place 5 stars if it were located on the beach with perfect weather and free drinks. But those requirements are absent.
I have to add another positive comment. I took friends there this visit and they all agree. Great place, great food, great service. Our server, Erin, was fabulous. You’d think all the servers were part owner from the way they act. I had their BLT this time and it was super, heaping with bacon! They have tidied up there outdoor eating area and enlarged it so outdoor dining is fine, even if it is adjacent to the busy Manatee Avenue.
My only complaint has to be that they have not yet announced the «name the Parrott» contest winner.

I feel the need to try and boost this place’s ratings. The 3.5 stars is not what they deserve given their pizza. Definitely worth trying if you haven’t tried it.
We just ordered tonight for the first time, delivery, and were pleasantly surprised that they would deliver to us (5 mile radius from the restaurant and we are just under that limit! Other places nearby there will not deliver!)
The nice lady (Robin?) answered my call, was happy to take my order and said 30 – 45 minutes it would be here. I was surprised they would take our order because we’re at the edge of their delivery radius and it was an hour before close. But she did. So we ordered two different pizzas, a burger, and the fried mozzerella.
The food was great, the fried mozzerella is a little weird, not bad, just weird– different, if you will, we were kind of expecting almost like mozzerella sticks but it is what it says it is– a hunk of mozzerella, breaded and fried, with marinara sauce. It was a little less hot than i’d like to see it by the time it got to us. The rest of the food however was piping hot and absolutely great. This is definitely my new go-​to for takeout when we want Italian American food and GREAT prices. 18″ cheese pizza for $ 12?: Specialty 8″ pizzas for $ 15 and change? Heck yes! Great taste and crust too, love the salty buttery flavor of the crust. We also got the 5 cheese pizza, which was fantastic as well. A nice hint of smokey flavor brings the whole thing together. Food was definitely fresh and if you’ve ever driven by the Hungry Parrot you’d definitely see it– they are a very unique restaurant located on Manatee Ave W. Haven’t dined in there at all, as this was my first experience with them but I am definitely satisfied.
Again, we loved all the food we got from them, the only other thing I would like to mention is that the black and blue burger we got did not seem to have the «cheese crumbles» but had a slice of melted cheese on it– assuming it was bleu cheese but it was not my burger so i’m not positive. In any case everything tasted fantastic and we will definitely be ordering from again. Thank you to The Hungry Parrot! Thank you for delivering to us and thank you for putting up with us during the last hour tonight! Definitely a local business worth supporting!

I went with the family to the hungry parrot tonight and thought it was quite good. I got a ckn czr salad. The czr dressing and salad were delicious but the ckn didnt taste too terribly good. My whole family enjoyed their food but all in all food was «ok». What makes this place somewhere i would go back to is the awesome atmosphere and mostly of all, our waitress shaina. Sorry if i butchered her name spelling but she was amazing, attentive, and extremely good at her job. Shaina you are the reason we will be coming back.
Long story short… The service is gonna keep me comin back

Came in for appetizers and a drink on Sunday afternoon. Cheese curds were very tasty, sangria was excellent and beer exceptionally cold! Most important, Michelle was an awesome server! Thanks!

They deliver if you order over $ 15 dollars however if you’re paying with multiple cards they’ll charge you each a delivery fee. My last order of a chicken chicken tender (5) basket with fries ended up being 3 and a half slivers of chicken that were half battered, and fries that were clumped together in a grease ball. This place isn’t getting anymore of my service. Order from some where else.

It is on a very busy main road & not set back off the road, so the outdoor seating can be quite loud as cars zoom by. They do play loud radio music outdoors. I always find that odd, while sitting at a restaurant, for the radio station they are playing, to advertise other eating establishments. With modern phones, iTunes, Pandora, etc… there is no reason for a restaurant to play a radio station for customers to listen to. I don’t want to hear loud commercials while dining. The whole place is decorated with a drinking & beach feel. They should play summer, beach, & water theme style music, so it would at least match the décor.
Thurs. 6:30PM, we phoned in an order & were told that it would be about 40 minutes. We waited the 40 minutes & went to pick-​up the order. It was not ready when we arrived & we still had to wait another 10 minutes at least, so I would not call this place fast.
We ordered the Chopped Salad & it was fine, but they forgot to include the Mango Citrus Vinaigrette dressing — oh well, we have dressing at home. Also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wings, Hot with a side of RIP sauce. They tasted fine but were not what we would consider hot, & the 911 was only mildly hot, & 2 of the wings were so dried up that they just had to be tossed because the meat on them was a wood texture. The ones that were not overcooked were fine. Lastly, we ordered Calamari. It was real, not just rings, & that’s a good thing, they were tender & the sauce was fine.

Husband and I were out this way from Orlando and we were driving around for a place to eat. What made us stop, was the smell. Smelt so good we made a u turn and tried it out. We shared a pizza, «build your own» and it was delicious. Service was great also. Got a few stares from other customers but I think because it was mostly seniors in there. Lol. Either way, definitely recommend this place. Prices are reasonable too. Laurie, or Lauren (it was spelt different) was our server and she was great!

I’m stingy with reviews so don’t let the 3 star mislead you (i reserve 5 star reviews for high end once a year type places)…i liked the food, it was fresh and wonderfully presented (i had wings and spinach salad) and the service by Michelle was very attentive and informative…
This is a good local joint and I definitely recommend it.

First off their prices are expensive. They are definitely hung up on $ 10.00. Pretty much nothing is less than $ 10. Ordered a chicken Caesar salad and two cheeseburgers. The cheeseburgers came out in an appropriate time… ten minutes later my daughter gets her salad. I did flag our waitress down (Paige) to let her know we didn’t get all our meals. She replies I know and stares at me. When the salad finally comes out no apologies nothing. If you want soda refills or napkins good luck. Staff is awful and rude. Food was sub par… honestly I could have made the same at home for ½ the price and less aggravation. Joey D’s is opening soon nearby. Good luck because they are going to crush the Hungry Parrot.

Excellent food and super friendly staff! The menu is varied with daily specials. They make many items fresh on premises. I had the fish tacos made with fish of the day, mahi mahi they also have an ahi tuna or shrimp choice, on homemade tortillas and pico de gallo. My family also had the bar b que pulled pork sandwich which had been cooked for 2 days on homemade buns. Everything we had was excellent!
The staff brought us a tub of crayons and paper for the kids to draw as well. Everything was incredibly well done, something I did not expect from the outside appearance.

Had the ahi tuna tacos and the wife had the killer nachos. Everything was delicious!!! Highly recommended.

Ok. My dad took me here for an early bird dinner. I didn’t think it would be anything special. My dad did good!!!
This haddock was so amazing !! The breading was so crispy. The tarter sauce was great. I usually don’t like tarter sauce at lost places. The coleslaw I could have done without. Didn’t care for it at all but then again I don’t really like coleslaw unless my mom made it. :). The French fries were crispy and delicious.
Get your butts here and give this place a try. I haven’t had anything but the Friday special but I will be back to try other menu items. Can’t wait to try the wings.

Never disappointed at this place. Everything we have tried is amazing. The pizza is even good. Highly recommend anyone to try this place. You will love the food!

Have been driving by this place and finally stopped to try it ! Carabeen decorations inside and out makes it really nice. Feels cozy. We had lunch during the week so had no problem to found a table. The waitress welcomed us right away. The service was great with always a smile. The food was great too. The menu has lots to choose from, salads, burger, pasta, pizza, wings, sandwich, fish ect. We had the special 3 steaks taco with homemade chips ! Delicious. Will definitely go again

Well we passed by enough times, figured we check it out today. Yikes! Their prices are crazy high! A app. of conch fritters is $ 11.!? Nothing special on the menu that you can’t get anywhere else. But we try to support small businesses.
I ordered the rare roast beef sandwich with slaw not fries… I got well done roast beef with fries? Not worth the effort of asking for the correct order.
The waitress was so over-​hyped about ‘selling the new place as so wonderful, with excellent food’ she was obnoxious!
The prices are way over what they are offering.
Won’t go back, the waitress needs to back off, every 2 seconds coming to the table yacking away OMTalk non-​stop. Nice big TV just streaming Jazz music… if they don’t change things up, they’ll be gone soon, like all the others that have come & gone from there!

Well they don’t play country music anymore so maybe the 3 star Unilocaler will come back again, lol.
Anyway, service and food were great. You may have to grab a cooks attention through the small window but a waitress will come out to «seat you». Pick your own table & enjoy!
Food:
Appetizer of beans/​spinach/​sausage — enough for a meal but more bread was needed to slop up the sauce.
Medium hot wings — good meat but sauce isn’t hot … It was buttery vs a true hot buffalo sauce.
BLT — big pieces of bacon! Comes w/​fries. Good size meal for 1 … You can order any sandwich as a wrap.
Fish tacos — I had ordered the fish sandwich but the kitchen messed up … I kept the tacos, they were filling. Big chunks of mahi mahi. Red cabbage and pico de gallo topped each taco along with chipotle ranch. Odd thing: melted cheddar cheese on the tortilla, yuck! Cheese and fish are a huge no-​no! Comes with fries.
Beef sandwich — not rare meat but still very juicy. Added horsey sauce and didn’t even need the extra «gravy». Swapped fries for cole slaw.
Hopefully this place sticks. It’s been 2 other restaurants so 3^rd time’s the charm, right? My parents said they’d keep this in mind and come back for dinner.
