Afternoon Tea at St. Julien

This review is for the Unilocal elite event, Afternoon Tea at St. Julien.
The hotel was gorgeous and there was even a wedding going on toward the end of our tea time. Spacious patio area with a mountain view which we didn’t get to enjoy due to rain, but they had a couple of round and well dressed tables for us to share.
The tea options on the menu were vast, and we could select from white, green, black, herbal teas. Since it’s summer and I just drove bout an hour from FoCo I picked an iced black. I had pomegranate and blackberry infused tea (i think it was blackberry!) and it came in a delicate pyramid shaped tea bag that you were supposed to place on a fitting square ceramic indent when you were finished. I initially didn’t realize the tea that went in the beaker with the ice was supposed to be poured into the smaller tea cup :) The snacks (finger sandwiches and desserts) were great and included egg salad and hummus on crustless triangles, chicken salad on flaky small round pastry, smoked salmon and cucumber, mini cheesecakes, cannolis, nutella cups, and plain biscuits (crumpets???). My favorite was the cheesecake and nutella cup, along with the chicken sandwich. The salmon was enjoyable as well! We did try the champagne, and there was a sorbet champagne float option which we split– hadn’t thought of mixing those two before!
I would probably come back to this hotel, we were able to get a tour of the spa and the event rooms as well. definitely a great place for special events! Fun fact– the event room wall fabric was physically taken from the World Trade Center.

Afternoon delight!
The presentation was fantastic and I really appreciated the attention to detail put in my the owners (a little birdie told me that the owner herself hand selected each tea on the menu as well as the silverware and dishes used).
The staff was very warm and friendly. I especially appreciated that our waiter shared with us his personal favorite from each type of tea offered. I was impressed that even at our large table he was able to recommend to each person the amount of steeping time for our personal tea selection.
The music accompaniment was truly outstanding (it isn’t often that I have the pleasure of listening to music played live by a multiple Grammy award winning pianist). The flatirons also provided a serene and lovely backdrop.
A really special place to share with a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion.
*Insider tip: If you are celebrating a special occasion do let the staff know ahead of time as they have been known to go out of their way to make your experience even more special.

A very relaxing and cozy afternoon tea for the summer. There was a lovely jazz trio playing, a great tea selection (and booze for those who are interested), and delicious little treats. The scones were to die for — I don’t even like scones, but these were just oh-​so-​tasty with the whipped cream and raspberry jelly. The only thing that wasn’t completely top notch were the sandwiches, but maybe that style of sandwich just isn’t my thing. The waitstaff went all out making sure that everyone was happy — they kept the tea refills and the whipped cream coming. I will be back!

I have been to afternoon tea at the St. Julien twice now and both times it was an absolute delight. The setting could not be more amazing with a magnificent view of the Flatirons through the large windows, the high ceilings and mellow, modern vibe of the lobby of the St. Julien is very inviting and comfortable.
I attended a Gingerbread tea during the holiday and it was very special as each child got to decorate a gingerbread cookie and wear a special apron and St. Julien chef hat. Recently I went to afternoon tea during the summer and got to experience the wonderful iced tea menu that is also included at this time of year. I chose a delicate, aromatic White Pear Ginger that was really tasty. The finger foods including egg salad sandwich, red pepper hummus sandwich, chicken salad pastry puffs, smoked salmon on something as well as many sweets. I loved the nutella tart and the scones and jam and cream were really lovely.
This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon — I highly recommend this Boulder experience.

What a delightful experience! World class waitpeople, Very impressive. Delicious and plentiful tea cuisine including small sandwiches, cannolis (sp?), delicate mini pastries, plentiful raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries, and much more. Today I tried 2 different chais and both were marvelous. Love their pyramidal tea bags with the little leaf-​like top. It was also nice to meet one of the original owners of the St. Julien. So friendly and down-​to-​earth. Many thanks to Unilocal and the St. Julien for this event. Enjoyed the music too… nice old-​school musicians… another world-​class touch that helped make this afternoon memorable.

Outstanding afternoon tea at the St Julien! I highly recommend this tea time. I have been to several in various locations, and this is my favorite. It is very reasonably priced at around $ 21 a person. The staff is top notch and very helpful when selecting teas and bringing out your beautifully arranged towered platter of finger sandwiches, scones, and sweets galore! All was served to perfection. There was also a grammy winning pianist who was delightful to listen to in the background. You can include a glass of sparkling wine for only an additional $ 3. This was quite a lovely afternoon. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon out.

The lobby of the St. Julien hotel is beautiful every day of the year, but is at it’s best over the holidays, with it’s beautiful tree, stockings, and other decorations. The music during my recent visit was marvelous, provided by a 6 time Grammy Award winner. But, sadly, that’s where the compliments run out.
While High Tea should never be rushed, part of the indulgence is relaxing for a bit, likewise it should never be glacially slow. Waiting half an hour to even meet your waitperson and get a pot of tea is unacceptable. Waiting another half-​hour (or more) for food that has almost without exception been made in advance is also unacceptable. But wait, and wait some more, is just what we did.
While there was theoretically more than an hour left to tea time, and plenty of patrons still around, they started breaking down the tables next to us the moment we got our food.
Having read some reviews written by previous diners who were gluten– and dairy-​intolerant, I was encouraged that my hubby and I wouldn’t get a lesser experience than our fellow diners. Sadly, this really wasn’t the case. We were given half as much food and dessert as my parents. We were told some items had dairy in them, and double-​checking with the kitchen as to whether that was accurate or not (it wasn’t), took the waitress a good 20 minutes. We were never offered more tea or more food, though we watched the tables around us get plate after plate of sandwiches. We asked for more with some trepidation at just how long it might take. Suffice to say it took a long time, and we ended up leaving hungry. We ended up getting tapas next door at the Med.
This was supposed to be a nice treat for my family to kick off the holiday season, but ended up being an expensive exercise in frustration and disappointment.
