I went looking for this business yesterday and it is not at this location anymore. Don’t know if it moved or what. Copley Flair on Beacon St. Is next closest bet.

This is an adorable little store. They have the cutest little pens(I got one with assorted animals in spaceman suits) journals(Moleskine!), cards, desk accessories, and gifty things. The variety can be a bit overwhelming but they manage to keep the store set up in a manageable way. I like the ample selection of same-sex marriage cards since, unlike the state of California, Paperchase understands that same-sex marriage = another revenue stream. Since I kinda hate Borders(B&N represent) I like that this store is its own entity. This means that I can browse all the ridiculously unnecessary stationary I want without having to pick Seattle’s Best cups off of products and fighting my way through children. Also, the staff is kinda awesome. (I may be slightly biased in that respect, Hi Lauren!)

I am a paper and stationary whore, those who know me know this. I can not walk by a batch of cards and not stop and probably pick at least 2 up. Everyone told me I’d go nuts here. I walked in and saw a pretty organized store … props! The card selection wasn’t as good as I was hoping. Mothers day is more than a month away yet they had TONS of mothers day cards, they have great birthday cards and very limited everything else. I did find possibly the best get well card ever, but it was luck. The stationary/notebooks/pop culture do dads take up the other 2⁄3 of the store. It was all pretty lame. nothing spectacular. The prices are also completely over the top. yeah, you can find something, but I had no heart palpitations or drool inducing moments. Paper source is 100 times better.

Maybe I’m just trying to legitimize my 23 year old love for cutesy papetrie products, but I was surprised that most of the notebooks sold here are ruled large enough to fit a kindergartner’s handwriting. I assumed, from the outside, that this store would be as large as the Copley Place store, but it’s actually quite small, and only has about 30% percent more merch than the Border’s store. I didn’t notice the wedding cards Sarah mentioned, but they sound awesome. I think I’ll still prefer the Border’s shop because I can use my rewards card there and they sell other brands as well, but Paperchase will always be worth the occasional visit.

As others have said, this is the same company that supplies Border’s bookstores with their stationary and other paper products. They have some cute stuff and I love their plastic tote bags. They have a reasonable selection of cards, including a good assortment of same sex wedding cards, both men & men and women & women. Prices are reasonable for most things. The nicer cards are between $ 3-$ 5. Amusing pseudo-vintage post cards too. Convenient location of Newbury Street is nice, or, you could just go to Border’s further down the street.

Cor blimey, ANOTHER British chain store opens up over here? What gives? Now we have Lush, Whittard and Paperchase all in a row. It’s like Kilburn High Street but actually mid-Newbury. Pop into Lush and Whittard for your gifts and then head here for awesome gift wrap, excellent gift cards and little tags and tassles to do up your gifts with. Nice and easy. The store is pretty small compared to the full-size versions in the UK but it’s still a step-up from the ickle ones they stick in Borders, so expect better card selection and a ton of silly stationery items. — — — now for a socio-economic thought: As the dollar descends into monopoly money will the US end up full of chains from abroad?
