I went here with a groupon to do my lashes. Overall I thought they did a good job and liked their prices for a fill. Planned on going back. While I was there I booked an appointment to get my hair highlighted. Unfortunately I had to call back later to cancel that hair appointment and explained that I would like to rebook. The woman on the phone told me that it was too last minute and that I would have to pay for the service. I told her I could come in later on in the week. She told me to never come back and hung up the phone! Interesting way of doing business… they would have had a regular lash client but apparently they don’t want my business.

I did not even get to have my hair done here. The customer service is of the very worst I have ever experienced. I purchased a groupon for a highlight, wash, and blow dry and scheduled an appointment (I told them on the phone that I had the groupon). I was in the chair talking with my stylist and when she heard I had a groupon, she went to talk with the owner. The owner came over and said that with a groupon, I could not have a senior level stylist and that unless I could pay the full amount out of pocket, I couldn’t have my hair done. It was humiliating to have to take off the haircutting cape, grab my coat and purse from the back, and leave. I refunded my groupon immediately and will NEVER go back to this place again.

Used a groupon and Olti gave me the best haircut I’ve had in a long time. Granted, my hair is not that difficult to cut: normal thickness, long, and straight, but I was impressed. There was a 30 min delay when I arrived at the salon (which was 4:30pm on a Saturday so they were backed up), which is why I can’t give 5 stars, but luckily I was not in a rush. Olti then shampoo’d, cut, and dried my hair in under an hour. I will definitely be back.

Do NOT get lash extensions here… I have had extensions before and these just didn’t feel right… my first issue was they were way over the top/​not what I asked for, I could have never imagined how much worse it was going to be then aesthetics. I called my regular aesthetician and the soonest she could see me was 2 weeks later. At first glance she thought they looked good, but when she got closer was HORRIFIED, the lashes were glued to my skin and the amount of glue resulted an a removal that took 2 hours and left my lashes crippled.

DON’T get lash extensions here. I got lash extensions done through a groupon I bought. They look 50% as full as other lash extensions I’ve gotten in the past. I will not be going back here, it was not worth savings the money. It has only been 2 weeks and they have mostly fallen out. The glue was also in bigger clumps than it should be.

What can I say about this salon… I saw Rudina. the owner under the recommendation of a friend and what a disaster, not really sure what happened. …but I have never cried at home after a color but I did this time. I was hoping for a natural looking highlight and I got chunks of color on the top of my head… and it’s orange… I’m not exaggerating. …not to mention I was one of 3 clients she had going… awful and unprofessional… her hair is terrible… this should have been a clue to me… I could have gone to supercuts and been happier thank god she didn’t cut it… DON’T GO

I got my lash extension done here before vacation. I chose the dramatic look and it came out very ordinary. They said because my lashes are thin and short therefore they can’t add more lashes on. I have gotten it done at other places and that’s not true at all. They were able to attached shorter lashes on my short lashes. I felt like they didn’t really want to do the work when I said it doesn’t look very dramatic. I forgot her name. She seemed nice but when i mentioned about the left eye looking better than the right she didn’t seem to like that. She did spend more time on my left eye and when it get to the end she was in a hurry. I would not go back here again for lashes.

Nightmare of all nightmares.
I got my eyebrows waxed here today and lo and behold, I left the salon looking like a horror show.
I told the lady who did it that my skin is very sensitive.
After it was done, I told the lady that it looks sore. She said after 20 minutes it will all be gone. It did not look right. After half an hour, I had to go back because the mark was still there and it was still painful. They keep saying it was not burned nor a layer of the skin was not torn off when clearly, it was. They kept yak yak yaking, even more than I did. They told me to just cover it with make up but I was scared because it looked like it could easily get infected.
The manager gave me her almost empty tube of some ointment like Neosporin. It helped subsiding the pain but it has been 12 hours and I still look like a horror show.
I am very scared it would scar.
Please don’t go here, especially to get your brows done. Or anything on your face done. Don’t let it happen to you.

I wish I could get this place zero stars. They did a terrible, terrible job on my blowout, and the cut was uneven. Will not go back. They should not partner with gilt city or other coupon sites if they intend to provide biased service to those customers.

Great haircut with Brandon. He’s very sweet and chatty. He listened to what I wanted and I left looking fabulous! It’s Newbury St. so not cheap. The cut and blow dry came in at $ 100 — but I got 20% off for being a new client. Check him out!

3 ½ years later and Jorgo and I are still going strong. Wonderful service every appointment. They will offer water, coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, anything you want.
George is so good, my husband started coming here to have his hair cut with me before our wedding 3 years ago, and we still book our appointments together. Every time, my husband comes out looking so polished and professional.
George is the first stylist whom I’ve trusted implicitly with my hair, and I barely have to describe what I am looking for. During our time together, I’ve had short, medium, long cuts, with full, partial and no highlights. He can do it all, and makes me feel beautiful.
I’ll be a customer for life.

I had Jessica as a stylist. I have naturally straight, blonde hair. I wanted natural highlights because my hair darkens in the winter. I prefer Stilisti much better. I only met to jorgo because I had a Gilt coupon. My hair is too streaky at the top. Stilisti made my highlights much more natural. I hope I don’t get roots now

Rudina rocks! I wrote a great review about three months ago and Unilocal took it down! Not happy so here I go again…
My wife had been going here for a while so I thought I would try it out. Rudina is fantastic. I have shoulder-​length hair; natural redhead who is now grey. Rudina colored my hair and I looked how I did when I was five years old! It’s glorious! A great cut and color. I have now been back and still love it and Rudina!

This review is mainly for Stylist Lindsey B. I was referred to her back when she was still at James Joseph Salon (also on Newbury St.). I went to her for haircuts for at least 3 – 4 years and followed her when she changed salons to Jorgo. Over the past year I was also seeing her for color correction (bad home dye job needing a re-​haul) and then ultimately maintenance of color.
I would say that I completely trust Lindsey with my hair. I have a LOT of hair and it is somewhat difficult in that it tends to get puffy, wavy and frizzy which as caused a lot of horrifying outcomes with styling in the past. Lindsey was incredibly consistent with her cuts and I always knew that even if I was trying something new with the layers or the bang area, she wouldn’t let me leave with something that just wasn’t going to work with my hair. I always left the salon feeling good (and was always able to at least closely replicate the style at home which is KEY)! Lindsey even got Best of Boston award (2011?) for woman’s hair style.
The other stylists and assistants are all pretty nice and the owners are almost always on site which is nice. You can definitely sense that they want their customers to have a nice experience.
I would definitely recommend this salon and particularly Lindsey for cut and color!

Just got back from having my hair cut at Jorgo with Rudina — one of the owners. I can honestly say that it it the worst cut I have ever had. I had a ton of layers on one side and none on the other. I left and was in tears walking down the street. I ended up going to Super Cuts to get it fixed. Although it will take time for the layers to grow out, the girl there did the best she could and saved my birthday weekend.
I will NEVER go to Jorgo again.
The only positive thing I can say about them is that the receptionist is a doll.

The negative reviews on here are pretty off base at this point. I think the bad reviews were a result of a newly opened salon and a fresh batch of stylists. I know people’s hair is incredibly important to them, believe me, but I feel like the people who wrote bad reviews should realize that a brand spanking new salon has kinks to work out just like any other business. Many of the positive reviews have been filtered but if you read them a lot are written by people who have followed their stylist from James Joseph recently. Which is exactly what I did.
I’m happy to report that they appear to have worked out any problems that may have existed previously with the recent influx of talented stylists, charming ancillary staff, and fabulous assistants. They are definitely on track to be a stellar little outfit.
As I sat in my chair for the incredibly long period of time it takes to keep a brunette blonde I watched a lot of people come and go. Everyone walked in and greeted their stylist like an old friend and were happy to be there. The girl at the desk was polite and cheerful and incredibly welcoming. She took every single person’s jacket and hung it for them rather than just pointing out the closet like a lot of places. It’s the little things that you should expect from a Newbury street salon but don’t actually get most places that set this place apart.
As I continued to check everyone out – don’t judge we all do it – each patron left looking fantastic and happy. I was mesmerized by the stylist behind me who effortlessly completed two blow outs on women with more hair than I could dream of having. They both looked gorgeous when they left.
My stylist, Kerri, is really talented and if she is any indication of where this salon is headed I highly recommend checking it out. But listen up, Unilocal users, don’t go booking her up too much on me. I’m getting used to having good hair and don’t want to have to fight for an appointment!

I LOVED it! My FAVORITE hairstylist of all time Danny Mayhew is now a stylist there and he is the man you want. He takes care and actually LISTENS to what I want and he is one of the very few stylists who are amazing with bangs.
Even the shampoo girl was very sweet and gentle and I would definitely recommend going back there.

First time I cried after a haircut. Straight out wet face my whole cold t ride back home.
Now I’ve had a long history of bad haircuts. My immigrant child days of Russian lady haircuts to my punk rock anarchy let me cut, bleach and dye days of high school haircuts. To the I’m poor college days of super-​cuts. Never have I cried until this horrid visit.
I brought a buywithme for a haircut. I called the salon and they said George and Rudina are booked but they have another senior stylist. So I’m like okay, I can live with this. I come in, the girl looks like she’s barely legal. I’m not sure if they lied to me, or just have low standards for senior stylist definitions. Don’t get me wrong she is nice and all, but besides that my hair looked worse than if i tried to make it look that bad, my bangs were cut long in the center and too short on the side.
Upon seeing me George did offer for me to come in and fix it at whatever time is convenient for me. I accepted because the haircut he was giving another client looked good and at this point I felt I had nothing else to lose. I did come in for a second visit to see George to fix what was left of my hair. He did the best that could be done with the mess-​up that became my hair.
Maybe If I came straight to him I would have a 5 star rating, I’m not sure… But I didn’t and Months later my bangs are still struggling to grow out =(

Rudina did a great job with my hair. The atmosphere is nice, and the service is pretty good. The only gripe I had is that my appointment was rescheduled twice due to an error and a double booking and I wasn’t notified until the day of.
If they can get their scheduling right (perhaps the online scheduling tool that they are working on), then they may just have a regular out of me.

Newbury Street? and I was assigned to a 21ish stylist? How much experience can there be? serioulsy… Just an all over trim, layers, trim the bangs and the length. My hair is thick. It wasn’t rocket science… it wasn’t until a few days later when I blew it out myself and flat ironed my hair that I realized how significantly shorter one side was than the other. I tried to pull it in a ponytail. One side fell out by my ear… the other didn”t. New Years Eve is coming up… and I have lopsided hair!!!
My bangs were trimmed, but the rest in between had not been touched… nothing,.till you hit the bottom… then it’s trimmed… bangs and the bottom and the middle is a MESS!
If you have bone straight hair, you won’t understand. Actually, you would because if your hair was suppposed to be all one length and wasnt, you would notice it right away.
If you are an experienced hairdresser and deserve to be on Newbury commanding the $$, you get it and you are in shock… Dont you EARN a spot on Newbury? or does anybody & nobody work there?
I am sorely disappointed and have an appointment at another salon with someone experienced… NOT at JORGO.
