All Fit Tailoring and Alterations

Needed to get a semicomplicated hem done for a floor length gown. Walked in and they were extremely accommodating, and very nice. Did a perfect job with my dress and in only a few days! I’ll definitely be going back for all of my alterations! :)

I cannot say enough wonderful things about All Fit. For my wedding I really wanted a French wedding dress, but could not find one in Boston. Fortunately, after much back and forth, I was able to order via a bridal salon in London. I thought I was all set… but then completely forgot that I would still have to find a tailor in Boston, and one who knew how to work with this type of design. I chose my dress because of its relaxed, drapey, bohemian look, and wanted to be sure that I would find a tailor who understood what the dress was supposed to look like, instead of trying to make it skin-​tight or transform it into something else entirely.
Binh at All Fit was truly unbelievable. She took one look at my dress and knew exactly how it was supposed to fit, despite it being much too big upon arrival. She was also incredibly patient — she let me walk around in the dress for nearly an hour while it was pinned (I wanted to make sure I liked it from every angle!), and answered all of my many, many questions about what the final product would look like. She also had an extensive knowledge of what undergarments would work best for the look I was going for. When I suggested a lower neckline, she replied honestly that she though a different bra would give me the look I wanted, but for a fraction of the price (and she was right)!
Thank you so much for making the process stress-​free and enjoyable. My dress was absolutely perfect — I have never had anything fit me better, be more flattering, or more closely match my vision. I would trust All Fit with absolutely any garment, no matter how precious, without hesitation, and you should too!

Do not hesitate to leave your wedding dress in the expert hands of Binh and Lam! They are extremely knowledgable and capable. While I was at my first fitting, they were finishing with a client whose dress was completely taken apart and put back together. She couldn’t stop raving about their work. And she was so right.
They added gorgeous detailing to my wedding dress including several alterations that involved tedious hand sewn on glass beads. Their attention to detail made my dress even more special as I was able to customize it. The best part was the perfect 3 point bustle. It was really easy to use, and you could not tell there were loops on the dress when the train was let out.
Their turn around time is very quick, they take credit cards, and their location on Newbury St. makes it very convenient for fittings if you are in the city. They go over all of the pricing so you know what you are getting yourself into. But the pricing, while expensive, is so worth it. This is your wedding dress after all, it should fit beautifully.

I believe in the adage «you get what you pay for.» That said, All Fit is one of the pricier tailors out there — but their cost is justified. I just picked up a couple of pairs of pants from them and am very happy with the result. I’m always nervous about taking expensive clothes to be tailored but any worry was unfounded here — the stitching is great and looks entirely original. I got exactly what I wanted, I wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.
Also, they accept credit cards. A small, but rare, convenience when it comes to tailors.

Hands down best tailor in Boston. Great eye, attention to detail, and friendly service. Cute dog napping in the corner sometimes too :)
They transformed some bridesmaid dresses (which were purchased at weird sizes since they were sale items) into wearable shape, and for that I am very grateful.
Try them once, and you will want to return. I have many times and will continue to do so for the impeccable quality, reasonable prices, and courteous service.

Binh and Lan are sweethearts, they are very nice and friendly. I need my bridesmaid dress to be fixed less than a week for a wedding and they made it happen, the dress fit nicely. I love it and I definitely recommend this place to my friends.

I feel so lucky to have found All Fit Tailoring from the other great reviews on Unilocal.I learned first hand that Binh and Lan are worth all the praise. I brought in a wedding gown from a sample sale that needed a LOT of work. They restructured the entire dress to make it like new and even came up with some creative ideas to enhance the back detail and make it, in fact, BETTER than new. They always found time in their busy schedules to fit me in around my work schedule to make sure we got things done within comfortable timing of the wedding. The dress was done with such quality of work and attention to detail, I was very impressed. Even the way they had it ready for me to pick up was with such care. You cannot go wrong choose All Fit, they are wonderful and talented women who do top quality work with excellent customer service… best in Boston.

I had my suit altered here. The service was great. I went in and asked if they could take a look to see if my suit needed some alterations. I put on my suit, stood in front of the mirror, and they examined it carefully and told me I should get my sleeves shortened a bit and the side taken in a bit too. It was $ 40 for the sleeves and $ 50 for the side. They said it’d be done in 7 days — I came back in 7 days and it was ready, and I tried it on and it fit perfectly! They did a great job, and were really nice about it. If I need any more tailoring, I’ll be back!

Binh and Lan saved my oversized wedding dress! When it first came in, it was way too big for me even though I had ordered it new and they had to size it down by two dress sizes to make it fit. I felt comfortable leaving it with them, since I saw many other wedding gowns hanging in the store. It might be pricey but I don’t mind paying for someone to do it right! I definitely recommend going over the costs in detail, so you know what you are going to get and taking pictures in the dress to get an idea of what it will look like to make sure you are happy with the changes.
When I first put the dress on, they immediately saw what the problems were and came up with ways to fix them to make me look my best in it. They were so patient and accommodating the entire time and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs tailoring done, especially for a wedding!

Binh and Lan were patient and reassuring when I came in feeling distressed about my bridesmaid dress. Several alterations needed to be made around the bust and hips within a week. They not only finished these alterations in time, but they did a beautiful job and made me love my dress.

I’m a big believer in not writing a review unless you feel really strongly about a place. I feel the need to write something about this location so others can know just how fantastic and easy they made my experience.
My best friend is getting married in two weeks and to my dismay I tried dress on and it didn’t fit in the bust! There was a good three inches left in order to fully zip and it wouldn’t close. I panicked and walked into All Fit at 6 oh clock on a Monday. They assured me not to worry and said they would figure it all out. I had zero extra material but could handle a couple inches taken off the bottom of the dress. To top it off… I told them I had to catch a train on Saturday and needed it done by then. Not even a flinch– she said no problem! Not only that– but I called back the next day prepared to beg to have my dress ready by 5 on Friday and didn’t even need to. She agreed instantly with no extra charge.
I just tried on the dress tonight and not only did they take out the bust a perfect amount, but they tightened it s bit for me under my breasts so it would help push em up. Told her I wanted a more supported look but «didn’t know how she could fix that». Well, she figured out how! This place is amazing.
The ONLY thing I must warn is yes, they are expensive. It cost me 140 dollars HOWEVER it would have only cost 80 but they charge 40% for rush orders. Listen people… this is Newbury Street and they are experienced. You gotta pay the price but for me it was well worth it.

All Fit Tailoring and Alterations was so amazing to work with on my wedding dress! I had sleeves removed (they had to completely remove all of the lace form the bodice and re place it) and then had my dress taken in and they were great to work with every step of the way! My dress looked exactly how I’d hoped and it was completely unique!

This mother-​daughter team is great! Fast, friendly service. I came here with my qipao, the second dress for my wedding, after it arrived from China ill-​fitting. They got it to hug in all the right places and added a few more hooks to make it look better. I guess there are cheaper places for tailoring, but if you want quality assurance for weddings and other special occasions, I’d trust them!

I would have to say I was probably one of the more naïve brides. I purchased a lace and beaded dress with a train, not realizing the amount of work that would need to go into altering my dress (and adding a bustle). I found All Fit Tailoring through the Unilocal reviews, and I have to say, they were incredible! They are a lovely mother and daughter team who clearly know what they are doing. Totally professional, but they, especially the daughter Binh (?sp), put me completely at ease. My dress was extremely complicated because of the lace and beadwork. They did an impeccable job, and although they usually need 12 weeks for a beaded/​lace dress, they did mine in about 6 weeks (although I wouldn’t recommend waiting as long as I did and I don’t know that they could do the same for other brides during busier seasons!) The alterations were more expensive than I anticipated, but for the amount of work they did and the exceptional outcome, it was worth every penny. I completely trusted their knowledge and skill! And, the dress fit me perfectly after they were done. At my wedding, people could not stop complimenting me on the dress and how well it fit me. I can’t say enough about them and the quality of their work. I also had them alter my rehearsal dinner dress, and again, the outcome was perfect.

We went to All Fit to ask if they make dresses, and they friendly said no. Then we asked if we can get a rough measurement so that we can go elsewhere to make the dress, and we said that we’d be happy to pay for the measurement if needed. After 1 minutes of basic measurement (waist, bust, hip, shoulder) they charged us $ 20. We admit that we should’ve asked for the price before she started, but honestly we did not think that such a high price for a simple one minute measurement was even possible/​reasonable. We were very disappointed with the service.
We are writing this comment not to blame them for the very unfriendly price but to inform future customers that this is the price range you are looking at.

After a terrible experience with another tailor, I called All Fit after seeing all the rave reviews here on Unilocal.They were able to turn around a HUGE job for me (alterations on a ballroom dance costume) in a week. They even called me in for a fitting during the week to make sure their work was perfect. Although some people probably wouldn’t have liked to have to go in one extra time, I REALLY appreciated this.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they are expensive… the alterations I asked for were essentially half-​done when I brought it in, but the price was still what I would’ve expected to pay for the full job. I probably could’ve discussed the price further, but I really needed the dress, was on a time-​crunch, and greatly appreciated their help, and so I wasn’t going to make a fuss. It wasn’t much higher than I expected, anyway. In the future, I would just break down the price a bit more with them. But, I would definitely go back.

Highly recommend them for wedding dress alterations. I had a heavy beaded dress that needed tailoring of the hem, a bustle added and strap shortening and they did a perfect job. The mother daughter duo was sweet and they were super friendly. I felt comfortable with them and they were very helpful. Turn around time was fast and price was fair.

Fabulous. I was able to bring in my Asos dress and needed it for a 3 day turnaround for a wedding. She was able to finish it by then! The space is very nice and situated conveniently on the second floor of a building on Newbury. It felt so homey and welcoming — she even waited the five minutes it took to struggle into my dress — ha. She ensures the hemmed length is appropriate. Just make sure to give enough time for her to tailor and do expect an extra charge for a rush order. She’s the only one there and has some relatives coming in part time. It’s a bit Newbury pricey but for the convenience and quality, it is worth it.

So I’ve talked to All Fit a few times now about the pricing, and I think that I should have really asked all my questions while I was there. After All Fit explained their pricing, it made sense, and I do think the way that they broke down their prices is fair, especially for Newbury St, and Bin, the owners’ daughter, want to make sure that I’m happy, which was really nice of her. She understood that this process should be happy and not one where you’re feeling unsure, which I think is really important.
Although I haven’t gotten my dress yet, I know they’ll do beautiful work on my dress. I’ll update once I get it though. I will remove the pricing breakdown from my previous review because I got some of it wrong, but if you have price breakdown questions for what to expect in terms of range for what alterations you’ll get done, then you should call as they are straightforward about it so just make sure you ask the right questions.
As someone who hopes to save money, but get really great quality work, it was hard for me to reconcile the price of alterations, but I do understand now after hearing the explanation of the work that goes into the alterations.

It’s an old story told to children to frighten them: my bridesmaid dress, which I ordered according to the sizing chart the boutique gave me thanks very much, was at least three sizes too small around the waist and too big in the bust, even though it mysteriously fit me in the hips. As I’m not, you know, Dolly Parton, I panicked and brought it here. Somehow, magically and after several fittings, I walked out today with a dress that fit – after they added what had to be at least five inches of fabric to the back, and took the constructed top in, and did some lovely work on the hem, since I’m also not six feet tall. And did I mention that during one of the fittings, the zipper broke and they had to literally cut me out of the dress? And they were like, hey no problem, we’ll just fix that too.
All Fit took the bridesmaid dress from hell and turned it into something functional, fitting, and – dare I say it – actually nice? Definitely my first stop for anything that needs to be altered from here on out.
