Georgetown Cupcake

I’m not quite sure how much I’ve spent at Georgetown Cupcakes – I don’t think I want to know. :) What I do know is that their cupcakes are delicious. My friends and I nearly always conclude a shopping trip with a cupcake. My favorite is the chocolate squared, but you can’t go wrong with the others.

The Lavender Earl Grey Teacake was the most amazing cupcake I’ve ever eaten. And, it was so pretty! I also had the Coffee Cookies & Cream — delicious. Def lives up to all the hype! My husband enjoyed his Mint Chocolate! When we are back in Boston, will will be making a stop (and will stop in NYC and Gtown if ever there also!!)

I saw this show on tv and so when we walked by it on Newbury street, we had to stop by. It’s a great space and very friendly looking. There was a great selection and they were even better tasting. At $ 3.25/cupcake, I thoroughly enjoyed my peanut butter fudge selection. The chocolate cake part of it was flavorful and a good texture, and the icing melted in my mouth, tasting of the inside of a Reese’s cup. This was the best cupcake that I’ve bought– I wish I would have gotten another to take home!

Ordered two cupcakes. One the «Memorial Day cupcake» which was basically a red velvet and a peanut butter chocolate. The red velvet was really good, good frosting to cake ratio (btw the frosting was cream cheese of course. yum). My boyfriend really liked his pb chocolate although I was not a fan, but if you like peanut butter chocolate I’m sure you would. Service was quick and easy, only thing was that the cakes were a little dense. Overall great spot

I absolutely love cupcakes. I can eat it for every meal of the day (so not healthy at all).
I’ve tried a lot of different cupcakes joints in Boston, New York and Los Angeles — I definitely found some of my favorites. I remember cupcakes became the new foodie trend a few years ago and it really blew up. That being said, prices are a little much for a cupcake — anywhere — but sometimes you should treat yourself!
Georgetown cupcakes are pretty small, you can definitely eat two in one sitting for dessert, but one is also deliciously perfect. They usually have a good variety of flavors, typical ones like chocolate, vanilla and red velvet and then special ones like carrot cake and salted caramel. The thing I love most about Georgetown’s cupcake is how well made and flavorful it is — it just tastes so good! I personally think it can have a little less frosting, but others think it’s just right.
The location is very cute. On a nice day, the line gets a little long but they are pretty efficient when it comes to getting the line moving — don’t worry you’ll get your cupcake! They have a few tables inside, but you have a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of getting one on a busy day. Their store is on Newbury Street so it gets very busy. You can usually find parking in the area if you circle around a couple times, but people love to walk to and from this area as well.

So many cupcakes to choose from! There is usually a line but by time you get to the register you kind of have a game plan on which cupcakes to order.
It’s the kind of place that needs a line to give everyone enough time to pick!
I ended up getting a half dozen when I only wanted one cupcakes … way too many to pick from. A half dozen was about 19 bucks after taxes. A little over priced but the cupcake was perfect.
I will definitely go back again hopefully with more self control to be able to only get one !

This place is so cute and so fun to go to. The cupcake displays are always super well done. I also appreciate that the store always looks clean on the inside, which isn’t too east do always do with a lot of foot traffic through the the day.
I think it’s fun that this is the same store (just a different location) as the show that used to be in TLC, D. C Cupcakes.
My only real issue here is the frosting. The majority of the frostings (at least of the cupcakes I have tried from here) are a cream cheese based frosting. Personally I am not a fan of cream cheese frostings. But again, that is just a personal preference. I know some people love it! I just wish they had more buttercream frosting cupcake options. I think the birthday cupcakes and vanilla cupcakes are the only ones I have had that have buttercream frostings. I could be wrong. But this is based on the handful of cupcakes that I have had from them! Haha
Overall this is a cute place in a fun and nice place on Newbury. And if you love cream cheese frostings, this is the place for you!

It’s painful to admit how often we’ve bought cupcakes from Georgetown. Painful because I’m not one to boast an individual savviness towards the cake of a cup variety, nor am I necessarily proud of shelling out $ 3+ for a three bite treat.
But they’re really f*cking good.
So, there’s that. The conundrum everlasting. How does one justify falling sucker to a pretty in pink façade that should house a mediocre product meant for Newbury elite — more concerned about the bags they carry over what’s inside them? It easy.

Georgetown has been my one and only Postmates order, through hail, snow and rain, and on multiple occasions. It’s the edible highlight of my wife’s baby shower (they do mini cupcakes with custom printed edible buttons at no charge). It’s a destination built in to muscle memory whenever I’m in a two-​block radius, simply because she’ll know otherwise, and I’d never hear the end of it.

I try and pinpoint the defining element that makes these nuggets so stand out. Is it the cream cheese base to the standard frosting on the Vanilla2? The meticulous way they’re handled and packaged (I’ve gotten my hand slapped for looking to bag the box myself)? Is it something in the oil-​slick design and storefront aesthetic?

The best cupcakes in town at an affordable price! My friend did a customized order for my 21^st birthday and they did it for free! You just have to order ahead of time either online or over the phone. Though in the past, I find that ordering over the phone was much easier and you have more options. Their customer service is great!
Instead of getting a single flavor birthday cake, you can get cute, customized cupcakes with more variety.

So despite seeming like a complete tourist trap, this place actually has ridiculously delicious cupcakes. At times it’s busy, and other times it is completely empty.
I’ve tried red velvet, vanilla, chocolate… and a few of their specials that I am blanking on right now … thankfully over multiple visits. They always have 10−15+ flavors so it;s hard to pick!
I’ve gotten both coffee and lattes as well. Coffee was ehh, latte was pretty good.
They take level-​up!

I’ve been to the Georgetown Cupcake down in Beverly Hills, LA before but for some odd reason, that one didn’t really impress me as much. Both stores carry the same flavors and selections of cupcakes, but for some reason, having the Georgetown Cupcakes (newberry location) today, and the one flavor I chose to eat first, really made this a home run for me to make me a fan of this one particular flavor — Cherry Blossom Cheesecake! OMG SO GOOD!
We walked to GTC around mid-​day thinking that the line wouldn’t be as long as we had heard it to be, but boy, were we so wrong! The line was out the door and a line was forming on the sidewalk for a chance to actually make it into the shop to choose your pickings of flavors for cupcakes. As we patiently waited in line, we started eyeing the menu and trying to remember how we can try to find that secret flavor of the day keyword (which was sold out by the time we got up front! Drat!).
Once we were able to make it into the store after a good 15 minutes, we decided to play it safe (for our tummies) and go with a half dozen for $ 18.00 ($ 3.25 each /​full dozen $ 35).
We got:
— Vanilla (Squared) — Classic madagascar bourbon vanilla cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting — Playing it safe with vanilla, but why mess with a classic?
— Lava Fudge — Valxhona chocolate cupcake with a rich fudge core topped with a vanilla icing with a fudge star drizzle — it was just okay. Not so much a fan of chocolate cake much so this didn’t really hit the spot
— Vegan Carrot — Vegan carrot cupcake topped with vegan cream cheese frosting — pretty flavorful on the carrot and pretty tasty
— Salted Caramel — Caramel cupcake with a salted caramel-​infused buttercream frosting topped with a caramel drizzle — cake just the right amount of sweet and salty, but the buttercream pushes it over the top into too sweet
— St. Patrick’s Vanilla (seasonal) — Vanilla cupcake with buttercream green frosting — again, playing it safe but love the vanilla buttercream frosting on this vanilla
— Cherry Blossom Cheesecake — Cheesecake with dried cherries infused in the cake with vanilla buttercream — LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. I finished this and wished I had gotten more. The cheesecake ratios are just perfect, and the texture of the cheesecake is creamy and smooth and the crumble is just right where it’s not too dry but a flaky crisp to it.
Debating about going back tomorrow to get the Cherry Blossom Cheesecake again. DOUBLE YUM!

I have been to Georgetown Cupcakes a few times and like it. I don’t go that often but yesterday, my friend and I decided to treat ourself to cupcakes on our break. Surprisingly, it was empty around noon as this place is usually so crowded. The cupcake display makes me want to try them all but I got a red velvet (for my boss) and a chocolate mint chunk while my friend got the gluten free salted caramel. Hopefully, they will have more gluten free cupcakes in the future! I really enjoyed the chocolate mint chunk. It was moist and sweet. The cupcakes are on the small side for the price but it was a nice treat on a Tuesday. This will probably be a place I visit occasionally.

I love Georgetown. The cupcakes are really good and there’s always a lot of flavors.
I love the key lime one.
They also have really great options for gluten free as well.
They are a bit expensive, but if you’re treating yourself for a cupcake might as well splurge.
Definitely stop by.

I had heard wonderful things about Georgetown Cupcake and decided to give it a try for my friend’s birthday. I went to the shop off Newbury Street and was warmly greeted by the girl working behind the counter. I told her it was my first time there and asked for six of her favorite/​most popular flavors to make a half dozen box.
The flavors I ended up getting were: Red velvet, classic birthday cake, double milk chocolate birthday cake, chocolate and vanilla, carrot cake, and peanut butter chocolate fudge. The cupcakes are a bit pricey at $ 3.25 each and it was $ 18 for the half dozen.
The cupcake I had, which was the red velvet, was delicious. However, for the price, it was very tiny. I come from the West Coast and I’m used to being spoiled by Sprinkles MASSIVE cupcakes. They’re the same exact price but easily three times the size.
Regardless, Georgetown Cupcake is probably the best cupcake I’ve had since I’ve moved to Boston. It’s more of a splurge treat for every once in a while. Maybe not for large gatherings or birthday parties, because the price is a bit steep. In the end, I’d come back to try some different flavors (or hopefully someone will buy ME some for my birthday!).

Visited Boston and fed into the hype created by the TV show. Came here with minimal expectations and walked out very surprised and happy. The beauty of visiting places during the holidays: limited edition flavors. Yup I’m talking the PSL of cupcakes, the pumpkin spice cupcake. Yup basic biatch status and I. DON’T.CARE. It’s as serious as my yoga pants and duck face selfies. The cuppycake was moist and not too sweet but full of flavor. The frosting was rich and too sweet, but that’s the beauty of frosting, you can slide some of it right off. I also tried the salted caramel and yum!
Truth be told I don’t REALLY understand America’s obsession with cupcakes, I’d take cream puffs or a nice crème brûlée over a cupcake any day but still Georgetown delivered beyond the hype. Not too pricy either. The neighborhood is beautiful, so grab your PSC and coffee take a stroll down Newbury Street or head over to Commonwealth and look at all them fancy ‘brownstones’ (or whatever Boston’s version of a brownstone is). Parking sucks, walk and burn off the sugar!

Georgetown cupcakes is consistent at every location I’ve been to. This one is the least crowded between DC and NYC.
All priced the same and all cupcakes are moist!

Well… I finally tried Georgetown Cupcake… but…I had to go to Boston to do so. Every time I would be in Georgetown and walk by the original location, there was always a huge line. Yes, I know you could order ahead but I actually want to look at what’s on offer before buying.
All that said, it was worth trying but yet, not worth waiting in a very long line to get them. We were here on a Friday night around 7 p.m. and there were only 2 customers ahead of us. After looking at what was on offer, I chose a salted caramel cupcake and my husband chose a pumpkin cheesecake one. They were boxed up and we were given a bag upon request. The staff was friendly and efficient.
As for the cupcakes — I liked the cake part of mine. It was moist with good flavor but the main flavoring was in the frosting. The frosting was a bit too sweet and while the caramel flavor was there, not even a hint of salt was to be found.
My husband liked his pumpkin cheesecake cupcake, saying that the cake had good pumpkin flavor. However, he thought the cheesecake frosting was too sweet.
So.when it comes to cupcakes, we’ve had worse and we’ve had better. We have no regrets when it comes to trying Georgetown Cupcake. One more thing to check off my bucket list :)

I used to be super fit, like Magic Mike fit, and now I’m built like an average American. Why? I discovered Georgetown cupcakes! Was it worth it? Hell yes!
I was never a cupcake fan. When I thought of cupcakes I associated them with the crappy supermarket ones that were staples of birthdays and reeked of artificial flavoring.
That all changed on one summer day when a friendly tourist encouraged me to try Georgetown’s secret flavor of the day. I did and I’ve been hooked ever since.
The cake is perfectly moist. The frosting has the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor.
Some of my favorite flavors are seasonal: thanksgiving maple, banana split, pumpkin spice. My mainstay favorites are: lemon blossom, peanut butter fudge, and salted caramel.
PS: Celebrity sightings are known to happen at Georgetown. I saw David Spade with two tall blondes here (he was groping both of them in line so it’s safe to assume he was romantically involved with both).

Crowded as all get out but that is what happens when you have a show. Let me start by saying the frosting is pretty delicious — some of the best I have had. Extremely light so it’s not as thick and hard as some places make it. Very creamy and great flavors in the frosting.
The cupcakes … Eh they are average. Better than some cupcake places but honestly the box Devils food cake is better. I tried one bite of each of the following.
Pumpkin cheesecake — not for me at all. It tastes like actual pumpkin pie — almost an unbaked feeling but I know this was the intention. I hate pumpkin pie so it’s not for me. The frosting was good though with a bit of spice.
Chocolate ganache — the cupcake itself was a bit dense and not much frosting but decent.
Chocolate Lava — this one was the best of the three. Great, light almost whipped frosting and a nice chocolate «lava» inside. This was my favorite.

I’ve watched DC Cupcakes before and was curious how their cupcakes tasted. While I was in Beantown, I was pleasantly surprised to see them open a shop there!
The cupcakes are relatively small but don’t let their size fool you – they pack a punch! I ordered the key lime cupcake and it was delicious! The cupcake was moist and the icing wasn’t overly sweet. Paired with their latte, it was the perfect pick-​me-​up for the afternoon before heading to Boston’s Public Garden nearby. The price was decent – a cupcake and a latte came out to be around 6 – 7 dollars.

Délicieux cupcake, je vous conseil le red velvet, il est a tomber. Il y en a un grand choix et le personnel est accueillant.
