She and her staff provide a warm, friendly, welcoming environment that actually made an eye exam kind of fun. She knows her stuff and I will definitely go back in the future. Thank you, Stacy!

After not seeing an eye doctor for over three years and tearing my last pair of contacts, it seemed as good a time as ever to book an appointment somewhere to get some more contacts ASAP. This was my first time visiting Stacy Coen’s office; I was interested in getting another pair of Warbys soon, so the convenience factor played a huge role in choosing this office. I booked my appointment on Friday afternoon for the next Monday afternoon. Being able to schedule an appointment online (and so last-​minute) is huge! Definitely a plus.
I arrived earlier than the recommended 10 minutes, but the receptionist, Naomi, was very friendly and helpful while I was waiting. I don’t currently have separate vision insurance, but after discussing my health insurance situation with Naomi, she informed me that my health plan actually covers basic exams (save for a $ 20 copay), so instead of the anticipated $ 175 bill ($ 95 for the exam plus $ 80 for having astigmatism in one eye), I only had to pay $ 100. That was such a nice surprise, and I’m so grateful that she took the time to look into my health insurance plan to find this out for me. She explained the pros and cons of opting into a an additional vision plan and did not make me feel like an idiot for asking so many questions, either. Plus number two.
Instead of seeing Dr. Coen, I was seen by Dr. Vania Yip; I didn’t realize more than one optometrist operated out of this office, but I have nothing but stellar things to say about Dr. Yip! She was amazing from the get-​go. She made me feel comfortable right away as we bonded over my outfit and the retail store I work at. In the past I’ve only ever had stuffy, disinterested eye doctors, but Dr. Yip was so relatable and kind. She answered all of my silly questions without missing a beat (you would think that after wearing glasses for 20 years and contacts for 10+ years that I would know what astigmatism is… nope). She took the time to discuss different contact lens brands and how each one might work for me. In the end, I walked out with 5 days’ worth of daily lenses along with a pair of 2-​week lenses to figure out which works best for me, and there was no pressure to order contacts with them on the spot. Plus number three.
All in all, I’m so happy with my experience at this office, and I will definitely be returning for future exams.

Dr. Coen is the best! Last year it seemed like every week I was having some kind of eye issue, and she was kind, attentive, and patient. When I finally got to see her for a normal eye exam, she recommended a newer brand of contacts that are far more comfortable than the brand I’d worn previously. I felt very confident in the knowledge Dr. Coen demonstrated, and I trust her explicitly.

I feel like I am going to be reiterating what all the other reviews having been saying about Stacy, but if you hear something enough times, then it speaks for itself.
My fiancé and I both went in for eye exams as we hadn’t gone in about six years. Because of the last experience I had, I was nervous. I blink a lot whenever something that I am not in control of comes close to my eyes, and as such I was berated by the last optometrist I went to, as though it wasn’t an involuntary reaction, and I obviously was doing it to be an obstinate brat. I warned him of it, and still I was reprimanded like a child. Not a great experience.
Enter Stacy Coen. While filling out paperwork, I talked to her assistant, who was very pleasant by the way, and was upfront about the whole blinking issue. She experienced it first hand when she did the glaucoma test, and was nothing but reassuring and patient with me. Once I was introduced to Stacy, I explained the same situation and she mimicked the same kind, reassuring nature that her assistant had shown me. She made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and when it was time for her to dilate my eyes, she was exceedingly patient and the whole process was over in a matter of a few short minutes. Her easy going personality made her very approachable and easy to talk to, and it was the best eye exam I have ever had. Instead of dreading it, while I never will look forward to something like this, I can say that all the nerves I had before are gone.

Best eye exam experience ever! I moved to Boston recently and just realized I was almost all out of contacts and needed to get a new eye doctor urgently. I walked over on my lunch break without an appt. They said they were happy to accept a walk in and actually had an apt in 2 minutes! Dr Coen was super nice and helpful and thorough and I could just tell that she knows her stuff. She asked questions and didnt try to rush me through the appt. She then gave me a new and improved RX and gave me samples to get me through until my order comes in.
I would highly recommend Dr Coen to anyone!!!

Dr. Coen is hands down the BEST eye doctor around.
I have been seeing her for two years now and find her to be the most patient, understanding and efficient doctor I have ever ever worked with. She calmly assesses the issues to get you on your way; she knows you don’t want to be at the doctor all day. She walks you through every step and every decision so that you completely understand. While waiting for my eyes to dilate, she even took the time to help me pick out my glasses at Warby Parker (her fashion choices are ON POINT). Making appointments with her are so easy and I have never had to wait more than 30 seconds before being welcomed. I am almost torn between wanting to shout her name from the rooftops and wanting to keep her to myself!

A Night for Sore Eyes After Work. They answered my phone call on the first ring. They offered multiple appointments after work during the week. One page form to fill out. They billed my insurance. No waiting, and it was all done in 30 minutes. And they’re located within Warby Parker.
Dr. Coen was as affable during the exam as she was attentive to my questions. At my age, I need to start focusing on wearing progressive lenses, but was hesitant after having trouble getting used to them two years ago. No problem! Dr. Cohen gave me a prescription for three different types of lenses so that I could choose now and in the near future what was preferable to me. The whole experience was seemingly too good to be true, but I’ll be back next year.

I made an appointment here based on the convenient location and great hours. After work and weekends? Perfect. I saw Dr. Yip, who apparently just started here but she was great. Extremely friendly, very professional, timely and personable. I got in at the exact time my appointment was scheduled for, which in my opinion is a miracle with any type of doctors visit. She was efficient, yet thorough and addressed any and all concerns I had. I would highly recommend.

I’ve been going to Dr. Coen for two years now, and she is, by far, the best eye doctor I’ve ever seen! She’s so pleasant and personable that you almost forget how much it sucks having your eyes dilated. Almost. I refer all of my friends here, without reservation. Five stars plus!

Please sit, so I may tell you the tale of my experience with Dr. Coen.
I have been wearing glasses for 15 years, and my prescription has changed about every 6 to 8 months in that time.
Never, ever in the history of my life have I ever received a more comprehensive, more accurate exam than with Dr. Coen. I went to an ophthalmologist’s office for about a decade, and not even they could provide as accurate an assessment of my vision as her. She did tests that I had never seen in 15 years, and they resulted in the clearest vision I have had since before I wore glasses.
Additionally, Dr. Coen patiently and skillfully assuaged my unreasonable fears of having a retinal detachment, while never once making me feel like the crazy person that I really am.
Ultimately, I had been walking around with glasses that were way too strong for months after another optometrist completely missed the mark on my prescription. Dr. Coen was able to fix the mistake quickly and I immediately saw results.
Although appointments in here office are a little more expensive than other area optometrists, in my book the extra cost is absolutely worth her phenomenal quality. You do not want to walk around with the wrong prescription for months, trust me! As long as she is in business, I will never see any other optometrist again.

Been going to Dr. Coen for eye exams since 2006. Very happy to see she’s back on Newbury ST. She’s thorough, knowledgeable and always pleasant. And the Warby Parker store is great

I just had my first eye exam with Dr. Coen and I was blown away by the experience! I’ve had a few friends sing the praises of Dr. Coen and when it was time for my annual exam I knew exactly where to go. My previous exams in years past seemed foreign and out of date. I used to leave the doctor’s office confused by what had just happened. Today, that all changed. Dr. Coen described all the steps she went through. I felt like she genuinely cared about the well being of not only my eyes but of my own well being.
The previous review described Dr. Coen as spunky and pleasant and I could not agree more!!! I can’t wait to go back next year!

Love, love, love Dr. Coen! She is extremely thorough! One thing I like the best about her is that she aims to educate her patients on eye health and by the time you leave her office, you feel as though you know your eyes a lot better. Besides Dr. Coen’s pleasant ora and spunky personality, I really loved how passionate she seemed about trying to get my prescription just right. Unlike many other optical shops in this area, Dr. Coen HAPPILY accepts walk-​ins! She answered all my questions without hesitation and I would definitely recommend her to anyone and everyone that i meet! :)
