Enzo & Co

My first experience with Enzo & Co was almost a year ago, when my usual salon was being renovated and I followed my hair stylist to her temporary accommodation. I have now been seeing Mia for almost two years, and I have not a bad thing to say about her, or either salon I have seen her at.
At first, I was getting simple cuts just to keep my hair healthy. In our conversations, Mia once expressed her opinion on a small change: just adding a little more blonde to my natural dirty blonde. Almost a year after it was mentioned, I booked an appointment with Mia for a simple cut. When I arrived at the salon, I brought up the possibility of adding small highlights to my hair. Even though my appointment was only for a short amount of time, she made it work so I could get exactly what I wanted.
She knows almost everything I want before I say it, and never fails to amaze me every time. The friendly and helpful staff is the reason I will go nowhere else!

I recently started coming to Enzo & Co on a recommendation from a friend and this last Saturday marked my second visit. Previously I was going to Unilocal darling Revive in the South End and I have to say Enzo & Co has really impressed me!
Things I love:
–My stylist Nadia really takes the time to understand what I want and spends the time to explain what she plans to do before she starts. This really makes a difference as the color work I have had done here has come out completely perfect and to my liking which is not easy when dealing with red hair. In the past at other salons I have gotten everything from a gothic purple hued shade to fire engine red so for her to nail it on the first try is seriously impressive. I have gotten many compliments already!
–Stylists are extremely prompt and the front desk seems to be managed very well. The receptionists are very friendly and polite and I have never had one issue dealing with them.
–Appointments are pretty easy to come by on weekends, nothing more frustrating than trying to book or move an appointment and being told you have to wait 3 months for an opening.
–Salon is very clean and well maintained
–Convenient location on Newbury close to Copley stop
–Nice email reminders prior to your appointment with detailed information on the upcoming appointment
–Prices are pretty fair for a higher end salon in the area
Things that are not my favorite:
–The salon has a very clean minimalist look which comes across a bit drab and cold for me
–Only have espresso in the waiting area. I do wish they had a few more beverage options like actual coffee
–The chairs at the hair washing station are not the most comfortable thing in the world compared to some other salons I have visited and the hair washing area is kind of dark and cluttered
Overall the few gripes I have with this salon are not a huge deal when you consider all the pluses. I definitely plan to keep going back and I will be thanking my friend for the great recommendation!

It’s amazing what how good a really awesome haircut can make you feel. As a dull/​straight/​fine-​haired person, I’ve spent most of my life accepting that texture and volume will never grace my head. I’ve been obsessed with how cute Khloe Kardashian’s bob looks right now, but when I went in and asked for a bob, I didn’t mention hers as I figured getting any kind of wave in my hair would just not happen. Nadia seriously changed my life and did an amazing job perking up my hair. After she finished the cut and was moving on to blow drying, she said she would try to add waves to it. I was skeptical and nervous because the last time a hair stylist attempted to do this, it was a major fail. Somehow, Nadia managed to work some magic and my hair had some texture and poof. YAY! And the waves lasted all night! YAY! I’m in love with this haircut and I’m so glad I met Nadia. I’ll definitely be going back to her to keep up with this amazing style.

First, let me start off by saying that I really did not want to have to write this bad review. Despite being bullied and receiving poor customer service, I gave my stylist and the salon manager 3 tries to resolve the situation. This is unfortunate because, I think my hairstylist, Mia, was a brilliant hair cutter. I have searched for someone like her for 3 years in Boston and am very sad that I don’t feel comfortable going back anymore.
I had to write this review, so people would know how this salon can treat customers and that they be warned before seeing Mia for color.
The story begins when I wanted to change things up and add some dimension to my light brown undyed hair and Mia shared that she also does color. I made an appointment and showed up with a picture of something I really liked like that was basically heavy highlights on the bottom ¹⁄₃ of the hair. She got to work and made me feel really comfortable along the way, explaining what she was doing, so I didn’t think to worry or second guess her work. By the time that it was washed out, the bottom ½−2/3’s of my hair was a very brassy orange AGGRESSIVE ombré. I was starting to feel a bit nervous, but I thought I probably just needed to see it at home to get used to it.
After the appointment I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror and almost burst into tears at how awful it looked. I wasn’t far from the salon, so I made my way back to say that I was unhappy with the color and mentioned that it was very intense and not what I asked for. Mia promptly sat me down and added a toner to the color which she said would help adjust the color that was so blaringly bad to me. The toner was applied and it didn’t do much, and I think Mia could sense that I was not happy, and asked me to come again to fix things when I was ready. I was really unhappy, but I was also exhausted with the situation and hoped that I would like it (even though my wallet did not).
Fast forward 4 weeks, which happened to be a 5 days before my engagement party in California. I did not grow to like the heavy handed ombré and wanted to look like myself in pictures and revert my color back to my natural look. I figured that since Mia knew I was unhappy the first time, that she would do everything in her power to make sure that I loved the new color. She recommended that I color my hair semi permanent all over one shade darker. I wasn’t in love with the idea of dying all my hair, but it didn’t seem like there was any other option available so I trusted her. Mia applied the color and washed it out and started to dry some sections to see the color.
I wasn’t sure if it was the lights in the salon, but it looked DARK. My hair is typically called a strawberry blonde or light brown and it looked like a very dark brown. I wasn’t really sure what to think and didn’t want to freak out before I had to see it in normal light (and I had a plane to catch later that afternoon) so I paid and left. Once I got home, I was able to confirm that my hair was indeed nearly black. HOW does one shade lighter from light brown mean dark brown/​almost black?
I was horrified.
The reason I had gone to get my hair fixed was to look like myself and now I looked like an entirely different person, with only a few days to fix things before the party.
The next day I called the salon, to share my story with the manager and ask for a refund since I would be unable to go to that salon to have it fixed. I mentioned that I felt awful calling, since I like Mia so much, but that this was the second time that I was disappointed with the color and that being told one shade darker took me from light brown to almost black.
The manager (male) listened to my story, then said «there are two sides to every story» and said he’d call me the next day after he spoke to Mia. I was really shocked that he would say something like this being in the customer service industry, but thought I’d give him the benefit of the doubt to resolve the situation.
The very next day I got a call from Mia, the last person I’d want to talk to regarding this situation until it was resolved. She asked me why I didn’t tell her that I didn’t like it and to send her some pictures, to which she replied that it looked way darker in the picture than it did in the salon (ummmm, why don’t you tell me how this happened!?). The whole exchange with her made me feel very uncomfortable and it was super unprofessional to be bullied over text message as to why I didn’t go back for her to fix it.
Then I waited to hear from the manager. Nothing. Called and left one message for the manager. Nothing. A few days later, I text Mia and she said he was very busy and would get back to me soon. More time passes, leave another message for the manager. Nothing. A few days for by, text Mia again for help to get an answer from them – radio silence.
I’m really shocked at the situation and disappointed because I really wanted to like this place.

I had originally made appointment for three blow drys at Hairo (sister salon) since we arrived five minutes late to our appointment they told me I had to go next door to Enzo for my dry and curl.
My hair stylist was Gosia (not sure on spelling) who was fabulous! She did the longest shampoo wash a great blow dry added tons of volume and great waves.
I definitely recommend the salon and especially Gosia to anyone looking to get their hair done!
My only complaint is Hairo was supposed to be $ 35 and since they couldn’t accommodate me they said it would be five dollars extra to go to this salon. When I ended up having to pay it was $ 10 extra so my blowdry went from $ 35 to $ 45.

Came here on the recommendation of my friend. It’s a bit hard to find at first — you have to look up, since they’re on the second floor.
Interior is clean and simple, with some drinks and magazines in the waiting room. I made an appointment pretty last minute, and they were able to put me into a slot about an hour after I called. They didn’t seem very busy when I went (after work on a Wednesday) but definitely make an appointment.
I had Shaylene (?) who was very nice, and totally got what I was asking even though I wasn’t great at expressing myself and came with no pictures or visuals. The haircut was quick and she was very thorough, and I’m really happy with the results. The entire experience was very straightforward.
A lot of times, when I have a really good experience, there isn’t much to say. Staff was nice and professional, and the interior was clean and minimalist. Had a great experience and would absolutely recommend Enzo’s to everyone I know. Only thing I didn’t like is that they sent me a bunch of emails after I got my haircut, but that can be overlooked right now because I’m just so happy with my cut.

Nadia was recommended to me by a coworker and I absolutely love her! I have thick, fine, wavy hair that I don’t want to have to style every day. She always knows exactly what to do so that it will fall nicely when it’s natural. I recently got a shorter haircut (which I am always terrified of doing), and I could not be happier with the results! Nadia is very skilled and obviously knows what she is doing.

I rushed to get to my 9:00am appointment for a cut and color (early for a Saturday morning but the only time available). I moved out of state and although I do not get my hair done often, I like quality and am willing to pay for it, and nothing beats EnZo.
I had to wait a few minutes for my stylist, Nadia, but parking can be crazy around newberry street and she made up for it by making me look fabulous, serving me peach ginger tea and spending extra time with me at the end. I wanted to do an ombré and use my natural color, a mousy brown riddled with grays as a base. Nadia asked to see photos of what I had in mind, and suggested I deepen the base to bring out my features. Since I have seen her before and loved my hair everytime, I trust her judgement. I’m not sure if it was upselling or just a good eye for color, or both, but I’m glad she didn’t just do what I originally wanted because it would not have looked as good.
It is a family run business. Nadia and her brother are warm and hospitable. I felt at home despite it being a rather fancy salon. I forgot cash and was told they only accept cash tips, so I had to run to the ATM and come back to leave a tip. I will definitely be back next time I’m in bean town, and really don’t want to go see anyone anywhere else.. . ever. Very pleased with my new dew!

now!!! i love Gosia!!! This is for you!!! She not only cut my hair but also gives suggestions… She was very careful and ask you before she does anything to your hair!!! Best experience than a much more expensive salon on newburry street that i have been to… and stafff were friendly… and is not expensive for a salon on a newburry street. I will definitely come back tp cut my hair here with her!!! :) thank you Gosia!

I had the BEST experience here. Shalyn is amazing. I felt comfortable, well taken care of, and received excellent service. I went in for a partial highlight and I’ve never been happier with the way my hair turned out. I also ended up purchasing one of their fantastic living proof products and received some great hair care advice from my stylist. Also, the pricing is very reasonable for Boston. Highly recommend!

I have to say I adore Enzo’s salon. Very professional, detail oriented and friendly, these hairdressers are serious about their craft. They take the time to access your hair and give you an honest prediction of what to expect and actually the results always exceed what they predict. Fabulous color and stunning cuts! Beautiful salon. I’m very happy I found them. Also they never over charge. Much appreciated! I have found my salon!

I was really impressed with the knowledge of Johnny, a co-​owner of Enzo. I have black, straight asian hair, and he was comfortable working with my hair type even when it came to coloring. I was happy he was upfront about the risk of red with coloring and even happier when my hair cooperated and turned caramel instead. All in all, I left happy. One thing is for sure, Johnny is a great stylist/​colorist and also a very sociable owner.
I read some previous reviews mentioning a cold reception at the salon. Trust me, I was not dressed extremely nicely and was treated very nicely; granted I did wait 20 min for my appointment, but hey sometimes things come up and people run late. I’m just glad I wasn’t on a schedule!
My only regret is forgetting to run to the ATM beforehand to grab more tip cash and not going a little bolder with my ombré :)

I walked in without an appointment yesterday, and got an appointment with Nadia. The receptionists were extremely friendly, and I found the environment pleasant and comfortable.
I have thick and colicky hair that I know to be difficult to cut and style well. I’ve been seeing different stylists for ~3 years now, and Nadia gave me the best haircut I’ve gotten in that time. She listened to what and I wanted carefully, and was able to achieve exactly what I wanted. Today, my hair is laying very well.
Nadia also seemed to take the cut very seriously; she concentrated on her work while engaging in friendly and genuine conversation with me. She’s very easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable.
After looking for a stylist for years, I now plan to see Nadia regularly.

These guys are just amazing — plain and simple! :-) You immediately feel at home in the family run salon when you walk through the doors — the entire team of stylists and staff are so welcoming. I have been going to Nadia for several years and she’s not only an incredible stylist but quite possibly the sweetest girl on the planet! I absolutely always leave so happy — she listens to what I want, don’t want — let’s me know what she thinks will not work for my hair type and has given me recommendations that I have ended up loving!
I truly couldn’t recommend them more! :-)

I am writing this review two months after the fact, but better late than never! I came here with a Gilt City voucher for a foil, cut, and blow dry and saw Gosia. Gosia was so sweet and wonderful and my hair looked amazing!!! Gosia is also the only hair stylist I’ve ever been to who knew how to style my bangs correctly, most hair dressers awkwardly blow dry them to the side and I have to go home, wet them, and re-​dry them! I can’t wait to go back and see her again, but as I am a teacher with limited funds I can’t go very often :-(Hopefully they’ll do another deal soon! I’ll include a pic, and thank you Gosia!

Enzo’s is a family owned salon, everyone is so friendly, they always offer water or espresso when you walk in. The owner comes by the station to check on you and see how it’s going — they really step it up, and they’re all just cool down to earth people that do a GREAT job — even the lower prices stylists are just awesome! They also always are open to trimming my bangs whenever I need it at no cost. Love ‘em!

It was fate that brought me here: lunch across the street, Unilocal app search, in desperate need of a haircut… I was a walk-​in and they had me with Shalyn within 5 minutes and still had time to offer me espresso and hang up my jacket. For the first time in my haircut history, I felt like I got the EXACT haircut I wanted– no extra inch off, no awkward bang, and no blowout that made me embrace rain. Shayln was a pleasure to talk to and is phenomenal at what she does. After I did a shampoo commercial hair flip in the mirror, I couldn’t believe how affordable my haircut was– you get your money’s worth and more. The salon is professional, the stylists are talented, and the experience was one that will make me go back.

I just had the worst haircut from this salon from Enzo. I now look like a 1980’s punk rocker. There was not an option to give zero or negative stars, otherwise I would have.
I went to this salon because I was duped into a coupon deal with bloomspot — also if you want to use coupons ONLY use Gilt Groupe or Groupon, the rest end up scamming you as this one did. With this coupon I could only get my hair cut by people that charge $ 95!
Anyway, my hair is perfectly straight. I mean, perfectly straight. I explained to Enzo before he started cutting all my hair off that I wanted to keep the length and that I do not use ANY products. These were apparently very difficult directions.
Before we got started he suggested to add body to my hair. I was completely unaware that this meant that he should thin my hair to nothingness and cut excessively short layers at the top so that I can look like I have a long mullet (I know, very attractive).
So now I look like I was trapped in the 1980s. And since I like to stay warm and wear a hat now when I get to work I look like I had portions of my head ironed. It is really terrible and feel embarrassed to walk around in public. I have had my hair cut all over the US and in different countries. And this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I didn’t know that it was possible to leave a salon crying — especially one that charges such excessive rates.
There are so many salons in the area — try ALL of them before you resort to this one.

I have never been anything less than thrilled when I leave Enzo. Johnny is amazing! I got the discount the first time I went with a friend, but I have kept going back because Johnny is just that good. I am very picky with my hair, but Johnny is so good that I will tell him to do what he wants with my hair, and the result is fantastic. Around the same price as other Newbury salons, but the difference here is you will always come out a happy customer.
