I was visiting and found this place close to my hotel. I am normally pretty easy about my hair and never am that particular, but this was the worst place I have ever been to. For starters, only half of my head was cleaned with shampoo, so by the next day I had to wash my hair again. Next, I asked for loose wavy curls and ended up with some mess of a curl at the top of my head and then the ends of my hair were straight. I repeatedly said I wanted the ends curled more and the hairstylist would fix two small pieces. When I called back again to see if my hair could be fixed before my event, the person in charge was not apologetic and blamed me for the problem. Overall, this place was rude and inexperienced.

I frequent other dry bars in Boston and came to blo because it was near my work. I shared with my stylist that I like a big bouncy blow out. Within minutes, it became clear she had no idea what she was doing. An hour later, the blowout fell completely flat so I asked her to use a curling iron at the ends to add some body. Before I was able to look in the mirror, she had given me frizzy uneven beach waves. I gasped in shock. She apologized and said, «we must have had a miscommunication.» Miscommunication? I told her up front I wanted a bouncy blowout with flipped ends. She ended up flat ironing over everything, at my request since the waves were awful, and now my hair is broken and fried from poorly applied heating tools. The visit took 90 minutes and was the worst blow out experience I’ve ever had. They said sorry and didn’t make me pay, so I guess that deserves one star. I rarely complain or write bad help reviews, but this was unforgettable.

I had such a great experience at Blo! I had some time on Friday while I was in town for a long weekend and was so glad I stopped by! I loved my pedicure and blow out lasted all weekend! Thank you!

Love this place! We are here to get a blow out for my sisters bachelorette. She chose the ‘holly would’ which was big volume and curls and it looks fantastic! So pleased with Sheila’s work. Highly recommend this place for blow outs, nails or any pampering you need!

I came in deciding between the very straight option and the ‘traditional blowout’ with a bit of a wave to it. Somehow, I left with very tight curls — looking more like Shirley Temple than glamorous. Perhaps I should’ve been paying attention as it happened, but I was very disappointed with the outcome. They’re nice there, so it wasn’t a terrible experience, but if you go pay VERY CLOSE attention to what you’re getting. I’m currently re-​styling my hair so I don’t look so ridiculous. Bit of a disappointment.

I have never had a bad experience and they always make me feel amazing! It’s also so quick and efficient. Tammy knew exactly what I meant when I wanted a combo of two styles and really nailed the look that I was going for.

So this was my first experience with this salon. I have had my nails done at so many and I say this without pride. Nasty places that dont take their time and your nails come out like shit. Today I went in for a manicure and was amazed at all the services they offer! At this location they do nails, waxing, and blowouts! I will 100% be back. I had a nail tech Tuyet and she was amazing! I had just left a super hard 2 day exam and see made me feel so relaxed and calm. The cuticle cream felt like literally heaven and the cut and style was exactly what I asked for. I got a gel manicure and I can without a doubt say its the best gel manicure ive ever received. Its literally perfect. It is more expensive than other places but worth it. I got to have a great conversation with a great person all which getting an amazing manicure. See my pictures if you need anymore proof! I highly recommend this place for any service! EXTREMELY CLEAN, friendly, fun and relaxing!

I booked a blowout for New Year Eve and was very disappointed. I have gotten a blowout here before and liked it, but this time I felt that my my hair could have been done better myself. The staff was friendly, and I liked the stylist who did my hair, but the blowout was just awful. I originally wanted the classic red carpet, but was pushed into getting the pillow talk. There was no volume, and the curls were messy and tangled. My hair was not at all smooth, but rather frizzy and very messy. I immediately went home and redid the style with a curling iron to fix it. The products used were great, but overall I do not feel I would come back for a blow-​out based on the outcome.

Love this place, it’s so cute inside and everyone was so friendly! I went to Blo before a girls night out in Seaport and I couldn’t have been any more satisfied. I loved how Amanda did my hair… It lasted all night! It was a fun experience to do before going out and I would definitely recommend Blo to my other friends!

This is a review that was long overdue! I came here a few months ago and had a manicure and brow wax done with a sweet girl by the name of Tuyet. She took her time with my manicure and held a great conversation with me while getting my nails done. I usually do threading for my eyebrows but since I needed my eyebrows done for that night and was in the area I had Tuyet do it. She did an amazing job! Tuyet was overall great and I will be back soon.

I had came in on a Saturday evening in desperate need of a pedi before a big night out. I had failed to plan ahead and remembered last minute that I was wearing open toed heels and would be with no polished toes! (Eeek!) I knew it would be tough getting an appointment in anywhere on a Saturday evening especially this late. I Unilocaled everywhere and called every place that was around and could not find any place that was open or could take me. Luck was on my side when I called Blo and they had a spot for me! I was a little reluctant because it only had 3 stars at the time but desperate times call for desperate measures.
But to my surprise I sure felt like I received a five star pedicure after my service! My nail tech pampered me from start to end! I believe her name was Lucy. I was surprised at what an amazing job she did just because I thought she could have passed for someone’s niece. But I guess you can’t judge a book by its cover! Her service was enjoyable and I definitely did not feel like I was being rushed out, just because I’ve had a few late or last appointments at other salons and they would be sweeping and taking out the trash while I’m still there. I would recommend anyone to look past the bad reviews and try his place out for yourself! Or in my case just get a pedicure with Lucy!

Brittany is a miracle worker. I have been seeing her for several months now. She can tame my hair and get it to stay for a week! She can chat away with me or let me work on my phone while she works. She can seriously get my curls and frizz under control in about 30min and it looks perfect for days — after sleeping and even resists a little moisture under a shower cap. I use the blo package and the value is so worth it. I love the hours, the price, everything about it. The salon is laid out perfectly and everyone there is super nice. I got my nails done there for the first time before Christmas and got the best foot massage I have ever gotten.

I absolutely can’t recommend this place. I had an appointment at noon. The purpose of a blowout was so my hair looked good for my headshot session (for work) at 1pm. They washed my hair and styled it. I asked for volume as my hair goes flat quick. The hair looked fabulous for about 5 min.
I immediately hopped in a cab to get to my appointment. I then took a can back to my office. 2 hours later the boing to my hair has fizzled. I just got images of the head shots— my hair looks flat and greasy up top.
I’m really disappointed and won’t recommend in the future.

Not a fan. I asked for the «Red Carpet» style, and walked out with my hair looking HORRID. I actually washed it the second I got home, it was so bad. What was supposed to be lots of body and fairly straight turned out with my entire head curled and FRIZZY.
Bad hair dresser aside, the place is cramped. I was told on the phone I could use my card to add a tip, but at the very end I was told they were unable to do that. FYI, bring cash if you feel like tipping your terrible undertrained hairdresser.

These ladies are absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I do not know the name of my stylist but all the women working on Friday night while I was the only person in the salon were SO FRIENDLY. They made me feel like a regular despite being from out of town. I had my hair done for a show I was competing in the next day and my hair was perfect, my coach loved it, I would def recommend and will def be using their services for all my Boston shows!

One of the worst blowouts I’ve ever had!
I went here because I was going to an event next door (and I wish I knew I would have had the experience I did or I would’ve gone elsewhere). They promise you a wash and blowout in 45 minutes. Wrong! It took over an hour to get my hair done. I will admit — I have long, thick hair, and I asked for the Holly Would (voluminous curls), so 45 minutes is a challenge. My usual stylist at the salon I go to usually washes and blow dries my hair in 30 minutes, so I think the amount of time I was in there was unnecessary. I know every stylist is different, but I felt like time management was an issue.
My appointment started 5 minutes late at 4:50. They noticed I was waiting and offered me a free 10 minute head message while I got my hair washed. I politely declined it because I did not have time to add an extra 10 minutes to my appointment. It took awhile to wash my hair — I was not in the styling seat until after 5 pm. By this time I was getting nervous because I was hoping to be out of there by 5:30 (fortunately the event I was going to was not too far of a walk).
The stylist was super nice, but like I said, I think there was an issue with time management. She decided to start curling my hair and pin it up while doing the actual blow dry. Eventually she ran out of pins. She was going to try to find them, but given I was pressed for time, I asked her if she could just curl my hair without pinning it up (honestly I didn’t care at that point, I just wanted to walk out with dry hair). So part of my hair was pinned, and when the time came to pull them out, she just redid the section anyway.
The stylist next to mine was also gossiping about the previous customer my stylist had — she told my stylist «She was such a b*tch! Your blowout looked amazing.» I’m assuming this could explain the delay in my appointment? Regardless on whose fault it was, I thought that was extremely unprofessional to curse about a customer in front of another one.
The layout of this salon isn’t that great — very cramped. The «seating area» is a tiny couch practically right in the stylist’s personal space. I was waiting and felt like I was intruding on someone’s appointment. Other people resorted to sitting in seats for the nail dryers because there was no room. Another thing that bothered me was that the seat I was in while getting my hair done was next to a huge window looking out to a pedestrian walkway. There was a creepy guy standing there for a couple of minutes just staring at all of us making faces. Made me feel very uncomfortable. I understand they probably don’t want to block out the sunlight, but they really should put something up so people can’t look inside like that.
In the end, because the stylist sensed my urgency, she was rushing. My «Holly Would» curls completely fell flat within a couple of hours despite tons of hairspray; my hair was just as straight as it was when I walked in, perhaps a tad more polished.
They charged me a discounted rate of $ 30 for the waiting, but I still left extremely upset. Lesson learned to give myself extra time if I decide to get curls. And don’t go to a place just because it is close by. I’ll probably never return to this location again and will stick with my usual stylist.
FYI I’ve had better experiences at the Blo Dry Bar in the South End.

This review is strictly based on customer service since I was not able to attend my appointment. I was really looking forward to a day with my best friends, my bachelorette party, but unfortunately our appointments were bumped just a few days prior to my celebration. Apparently it didn’t matter that our appointments were booked weeks in advance or that we were a bridal party coming to celebrate :(unfortunately all of my ladies will be privileged to this information and as young professionals in the city, word spreads fast.

This was the worst place I’ve ever been to. I wish I knew my «stylist’s» name so I could mention it but that was part of the problem that none of them introduce themselves at all– how unprofessional. Not to mention the girl who works the front desk is ignorant as hell and has no personality. Someone like that should not work a reception desk, my god!
A blonde girl did my friend’s hair as I watched and she could have had more volume in it had she air dried it at home?! I thought this place was all about the voluminous blow out? Apparently not that stylist anyway… My friend’s hair was so «blah» when done that another stylist came over asking if she was her next appointment!
When it was my turn, a gal with black braids was my stylist. The first thing she said to me was a complaint about how drunk the bridal party was getting off six bottles of champagne while they were getting their hair done! Judgey much? She asked me what I wanted and I showed her a picture and said I wanted huge volume with Hollywood curls. My hair looked NOTHING like the picture in their hair menu, let alone the picture I showed her! She dropped the huge hot curling iron on my head while curling my hair. When she was done curling, I thought she was going to «comb the curls out» but that was not the plan. Instead I had little kinks all over my head, she didn’t curl around my face correctly at all (I think a 10 year old knows to curl AWAY from the face, not INTO the face)… I asked her if she could fix it as it was not what I asked for at all. She attempted to but only made it worse. I told her to curl it away from my face but once she did that it basically screwed everything up and made it straight. I was so upset and angry about her poor skills that I said IT’S FINE… And got up to pay. $ 40 for the worst hair do and waste of time of my life. Had my friend not been with me I would have made a huge scene and refused to pay but I didn’t want to embarrass her. I certainly did not tip. I was forced to go home and RUSH to re-​shower and wash my own hair, blow dry it, and curl it within a 45 minute period before our friends’ wedding! Why did I pay for this disappointment and HUGE inconvenience?!
I’d love to hear from the management as to where the hell they find these people to work there… Although I know the girl with the braids had come from Hair Cuttery and had only been there at Blo two weeks! Such a joke!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Got a mani-​pedi done here during my lunch break. It’s the only place on the seaport and was convenient, which is why I chose it. First off, everything is very clean and sanitary and the lady did a great job scrubbing and cleaning my feet. The polish job was thin and the long foot massage that usually comes with a nice pedicure seemed very short. Hands were about the same – cleaned them up nicely and gave a nice but very short massage. The mani-​pedi is scheduled for 90 minutes but I was out of there in less than 60. The polish job on my hands was not done very well. A few bumps and it almost immediately started chipping. I’m posting a picture of what it looks like 1.5 days later. Overall, definitely not worth the money.

Really fun place! If you’ve got an event to go to or planning for a night out with your girlfriends, you must run (don’t walk, run!) to see Jenny at Blo. I’ll admit that I was a little reluctant of the whole blow-​out trend, but I had an event to go to on a Friday night so I figured for $ 40, why not? Yeah, it’s not exactly cheap, but if you’re like me and can’t operate a curling iron to save your life, it’s definitely worth it.
The salon is located off to the side of the Seaport Hotel. It’s really easy to get to from downtown Boston and is a short cab ride away from the Financial District. The salon itself is kind of small; there really isn’t a waiting area and there is a small coat closet included. It definitely has a modern feel to it, too. Clean and friendly staff. It can be a little overwhelming at first because the staff is totally gorgeous. I guess to work at a blow-​out bar, it’s a requirement? Oh well. Don’t be intimidated because everyone was so friendly.
I got there a little earlier than my scheduled appointment, and the staff was able to rearrange some appointments to get me in as soon as possible to make more «room» for the late afternoon post-​work appointments where it gets really busy. Jenny was my stylist and let me be the one to say, she is awesome! She has such a fun personality and we were laughing the entire time. She washed my hair quickly and used just enough product to make sure the style would «set» and my hair wouldn’t get too oily too quickly. My only complaint was that the washing sink really hurt the back of my neck. Maybe it was just this sink-​and-​chair combo, but I felt like I had to go to the chiro after that. Oh well. If that’s the worst that happened, I think we are in good shape…
It’s a relatively straight-​forward process. They have a «menu» of looks you can choose from. However, you need to listen to your stylist and explain what kind of look you’re going for. Glam, sultry, flirty, or whatever? Once they can assess what type of hair you have, it makes it easier for them to come up with a look that will work best for you. I have long naturally curly hair that is heavy so she styled it with practically ringlets knowing the curls would weigh themselves down and she wanted to make sure I had the volume for later on.
Anyway, my hair looked fabulous. I felt fabulous! For $ 40, I would definitely go back and do another blow-​out for an upcoming event. You can book your appointments online which makes it very easy. Appointments do book up quickly, so it’s best to book them as fast as possible and cancel later if you have to.
Remember, at the time of this review, gratuity couldn’t be put on a credit card. So be sure to bring cash.
