First and last experience at ABG. I was grabbing a Friday lunch with four other coworkers. From the start the service was horrible. The hostess was rude and unfriendly. We ordered a pitcher of beer and we were brought plastic cups, when everyone else has glass cups at the bar. We ordered our food at 12:20 we didn’t get our food till 1:15. We just ordered 2 sandwiches, nachos and an extra side of curly fries. Easy order! Since it took so long we were unable to eat it at ABG, so we had it boxed. Once I ate my food the fries were cold and the chicken sandwich was cold. Mind you, I work right down the street(less than a minute walk). The waitress didn’t even apologize or let alone acknowledge the wait. ABG, you weren’t busy and there are too many other good places to eat in Seaport. Your staff is rude and I can see why you weren’t busy.

I would go here for drinks, and drinks only. I had the food and wasn’t pleased with the menu or my meal. Great for a just a night out with friends though.

Went on New Years Day to catch up with old friends and watch the Winter Classic. The place was busy but not too crowded. I love that they offered a brunch menu as well as full menu service as our guests had different tastes. We split a few appetizers. The spinach dip was amazing! I asked for tortilla chips as a sub. Everyone in my party ordered a wrap and raved about them. I got a turkey burger, minus the bun. It was good but I think next time I would have altered the toppings. It needed more flavor. Service was prompt and responsive. Definitely my favorite sports bar on this stretch

I can only give my review on the bar since I have never come for the food. I came out one night for a co-worker’s birthday. I kept an open tab and when I asked to close I noticed that only 1 of my beer’s was on there but there were a few others I did not order. Right away I realized my brother was there as well and they must have put my beers on his tab and his on mine. No big deal. I asked the bartender if he could fix it and explained what probably happened. I wasn’t upset at all and understood how that could happen. Instead of him telling me no problem and sorry about that he in his words said this is not our fault this is your fault, you should have said your name when you ordered. I was so appalled by that I didn’t say anything. When he returned with the now fixed bill I told him it was no big deal and he didn’t have to react that way. Again he reprimanded me for not specifying my name and that it wasn’t there fault. This is the first time in my life I didn’t leave a tip. I tip even with not so great service. I was so shocked by the way I was treated. All I could think to justify this behavior is they must deal with awful customers on a daily basis to get so defensive. I wasn’t mad at all so there was no reason to speak to me like that. After I closed the tab I told my brother and some of my co-workers. Basically the consensus I got from everyone is this is the norm and they have all experienced poor service here. Also, my brother said when he ordered his beers he DID specify his first name knowing I was there so how would his beers still end up on my tab? Uh oh bartender… DOES sound like it was your fault. Oh well. We brought 30+ people to the bar that night. Otherwise the place would have been empty. I wonder why? Honestly the only time we end up at this bar is because Whiskey Priest right next door is packed. If you have to pick, go to Whisky Priest. You will receive much better service!

I hosted a work event here and they we very accommodating. Atlantic Beer Garden is really a sports bar first and a beer garden second. They have TV’s on a every single wall and it was Football Sunday. You can tell it’s a spot where locals go to watch Tom Brady do his thing.

This place is great. The staff is very friendly and professional. Even the bouncers are willing to be more lenient when it comes to going outside and comes back. I have watched them take care of people that are too drunk and I have watched them help people that need a ride to call an Über. The drinks are worth the money and the beer staff are great. If they make the mistake they will make up for it. They have an excellent selection of beer both on and off tap. From what I’ve heard the food is great, haven’t had it but I will soon. This place never disappoints.

I would say the reviews are pretty accurate. Here is a place in a great spot right on the water, South Boston. Great places all around and they serve pretty much expensive crab. I had pork sliders for lunch came on a crapy bun for loss of a better word and taste like some kind of meat with some bbq sauce on it. Blaaa. My friend ordered chicken sandwich took a few bites and left it. It’s really a shame with such a great spot the don’t hire a good cook and change up the menu.

It has potential, but it’s basically just a bro/douche dance floor around a bar that happens to serve food with a slow wait staff. Pros: Lots of beer to choose from. Decent menu selection. Next to water. Fun people watching(they act pretty stupid here). Cons: …where to start… We came in on a Saturday early evening(6:30) prior to the Primus/Dinosaur Jr. show at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. Every other place was packed, so we went here. I’m a pub kind of guy, so don’t assume that I dislike this place because I have high standards; that’s definitely not the case. I’m a huge fan of places like the South Street Diner, if that provides any sort of perspective. It’s crazy loud in this place, making me reconsider having dinner because I’d like to talk to my girlfriend instead of yelling. She said it was fine, so we stayed. The waitress(Devon) looked flustered, which is expected when you’re busy, but was annoyed that I didn’t know which of the 50+ beers I wanted just after receiving the menu from her. When I began asking questions like«What is your best dark ale?», she seemed further annoyed. Sorry, but I think that’s a legitimate question. I ordered one quickly so as to not anger the person handling our food, but apparently that doesn’t matter. We ordered 3 apps which took a while to arrive. When they did, they were all cold and pretty much just didn’t taste good at all. Our waitress didn’t even bring them out, so we couldn’t order another round of drinks. I continuously tried to get her attention, but it seemed like she couldn’t be bothered. When I finally did get her attention for another round of drinks, it took another 10 minutes to get them; apparently the beer I ordered was in the way back of the cooler in the back… I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. During this visit, we basically had to watch a bunch of bros hit on ladies who(even though it was before 7:00) were sloshed and dancing around like they were screwing right there at the bar with roaming hands. It made for good people watching, but these are the types of places I try to avoid. Maybe we came on a bad night. I don’t know, but this is the only non-PAX time that I’ve come here and needless to say that I will not be coming back. Customers can be giant a-holes, but I never act like that because I’ve worked the service industry and it’s not easy and it’s even worse when you have a jerk for a client. Maybe she was new, which would explain a lot, but regardless, that’s not how you treat people.

Alrighty — time to upgrade to 4 stars for this place. I admit that I may have been biased on that past review with it being Halloween and all. I returned a few nights ago, and I was impressed. Food was good and service was on point. I just won’t go on Halloween ever again. Or if I do, just not have über high expectations because it’s a holiday and its a busy bar night. I had the quesadilla and onion rings with a few beers and it was good. Friends enjoyed their calamari and queso dips and the beer too :) Service was very good and the bartender was cool. Bouncer was cool too. We thought we’d be set watching fireworks from the roof deck. Nope. Fireworks went off and we could see half of them… so we chugged and ran to the waterfront haha and enjoyed the rest of our night :)

I’ve never enjoyed this bar and I don’t understand the draw. Atlantic Beer Garden is essentially a glorified frat party. The floors are always sticky, the bathrooms are a mess(and often out of toilet paper), the cover is too high(honestly it shouldn’t exist), the bouncers/staff rude and pushy, the bartenders and servers inattentive and slow, the drinks absurdly overpriced, and the patrons are predominantly self-important bros and overly made up girls who for some reason are willing to go home with them. As for the line outside, they don’t appear to have any kind of headcount system. I suspect they just make people wait once the bar starts to fill up so it looks like a more desirable spot to passerby. But hey, that’s just the night life. If you go during the day/early evening for lunch or dinner, this could be a great spot! Nope. They apparently don’t clean at all, even during the week, so early evening on a weeknight the floors are still sticky and bathrooms disgusting. The food was okay, classic bar food, but they were out of a lot of things so two people in our party had to pick other orders. Service was also slow and our server had an attitude. Needless to say, this is one of my least favorite places in Boston(followed by the Whiskey Priest next door, just as bad). Save your time, money, and dignity and go elsewhere.

Some friends and I went to the Atlantic Beer Garden after attending a conference near by. This will be the last time I eat at a restaurant without looking at the reviews first. We ordered drinks and then our meals. I decided to try the«Mac and Cheese Burger.» Our waitress quickly explained that the burger’s name was extremely deceiving, almost talking me out of my meal. I still decided to order it since she had already taken my menu away and my friends already ordered their meals. While waiting for our food to come out we noticed that ABG is not just a restaurant, it’s a salon as well! Now I know why everything is overpriced! Our waitress was curling her hair at a table diagonally behind us. At another point, she proceeded to do her makeup. Don’t worry everyone! After she’s done touching her hair and face a thousand times she does bring out your food(hopefully hair free). Another waitress was seen stuffing her face in this same area of the restaurant. Does the ABG not provide a break room? Do we need to get the FDA involved? Sign a petition? Needless to say, we lost our appetites pretty quickly. My burger was lackluster, not that I was expecting anything spectacular thanks to our waitress’ Roger Ebert type critique. All in all, Upton Sinclair would have had some great material for«The Jungle 2.»

Didn’t eat here but a good selection of beers and rooftop deck make this a popular spot at the revived seaport area, atmosphere is reminiscent of a sports bar with huge tv’s at each end of the bar, nice outside patio and exceptional bar staff.

The food was decent and priced okay — particularly for Boston. It’s a bit off the beaten path so maybe they get to avoid the long waits(or maybe everybody else in Boston knew it wasn’t worth going to). We had reservations for a Saturday night for a party of six — they didn’t have the table ready for our start time of 630. We were seated at 645 with a waitress who was very social — so social she would camp out at tables for twenty minutes at a time and ignore all of the other parties while your drinks get warm on the bar. We spent inordinate amounts of time waiting until I finally got up to the bar myself, asked if the drinks were ours and delivered them to the table myself.(Not before the smart ass bartender informed me that the way it works is I wait at the table and the drinks are brought to me — they had been at his service station for a period of twenty minutes — I realize customers shouldn’t be running their own food and drinks, but by the time a customer is pissed enough to do the staff’s job for them — you probably shouldn’t be shooting off with your mouth) The atmosphere is a sports bar but the volume is really overwhelming — very difficult to enjoy the company of friends. If you really HAD to go there — don’t go with parties more than two or three because in a larger party you really won’t be able to hear the conversation over the table. Avoid!!!

Pistachio Tuna Salad was so delicious. The presentation was beautiful and the Tuna was so melt in your mouth fresh. Loved the wasabi pea kick and texture it added to the salad. The dressing was also the perfect accompaniment Beautiful location although the new skyscraper apartment unit being built unfortunately obstructs the view.

I went to dinner here with 7 people we arrived and there was 2 security guards who asked me for id even tho I told him we are eating here. We ended up eating outside it was nice the drinks were flowing convo was good we ordered 5 appetizers which took forever. Once we got the app it was very good. For dinner I just got a burger. The burger was good I know the other people I was eating with said there food was good as well. During dinner a line formed in front of the door and the waitress seemed busier and not as attentive. It took forever to get our check. The line out front was all the way to the street filled with college kids. I prob would want to eat here again. I would come back to get a drink but I would stop in if I was walking by. I would want go out of my way to come back. PROS: –nice little outdoor area CONS: –place got to busy, server took forever

Just had a great night with friend by the waterfront and we came here for one last round of drinks. It was great, the drafts were super cold a fresh and the price is great being that we were right in the heart of Boston. The bar is super nice and with the huge windows facing out into the ocean, it’s just perfect. Just wished they had an outdoor patio

A great beer selection and great bar food often go hand in hand. I was out with a friend in Boston and we were looking to drink some beers and have a good time in a relaxed enviornment. She had heard good things about Atlantic Beer Garden and we decided to give it a try. Atlantic Beer Garden is located right on the Boston Harbor(tea anyone?) and when the weather is nice out, it is probably a beautiful place to grab a drink. After looking over the extensive beer menu and each selecting one, we also decided to share some appetizers. First we tried the Macaroni and Cheese Balls, it was a ball of macaroni and cheese breaded and then deep fried and served with marinara sauce. They were very good, however, I would have preferred them to be a little bit cheesier. Next we shared the Buffalo Chicken Wontons, it was grilled chicken tossed with buffalo sauce and cheese then battered and deep fried and served with ranch for dipping. They were delicious. My friend decided to order a burger for her main course, she picked the Stuffed Smokehouse Burger. This burger was stuffed with bacon and cheddar cheese then topped with BBQ sauce and some more cheese. This burger was messy and delicious, my friend loved every bite! For my meal, I ordered a French Dip Sandwich. The roast beef was thinly sliced topped with swiss cheese and sautéed onions. The meat was good, but I would have preferred some type of sauce to add a creamy element to the sandwich so the bread wasn’t so dry. Overall it wasn’t a bad sandwich. With our meals, we were each offered a side. We both opted for the Curly Fries. The fries were nice and crispy and had a nice seasoning on top of them. Next time you’re in Boston and craving American Food or Pub Grub, consider Atlantic Beer Garden in the Seaport District.
