No frills, no thrills. It’s all good though — the food needed no such introduction.
During my first walk through the area, I decided to stop by the Bar & Grille. Though the Atlantic Beer Garden looked livelier next to the B&G, I thought there was something inviting about the small joint. The service was quick, and my server (waitress/​bartender?) was a pleasant woman. My Sam Adams Oktoberfest and lobster roll came less than 10 minutes after I settled onto my stool (NOTE: I ate during lunch on Monday).
I had been feenin for a taste at New England cuisine, and my meal did not disappoint. My roll appeared buttered but not greasy, and it was PACKED with huge chunks of lobster. Normally I detest celery, but the mayo and celery mixed w/​the lobster meat did not overpower any part of my meal. Naturally, the roll was accompanied by crisp-​perfect fries. Of course, this meal is NOT figure-​friendly, but go ahead and give it a try if you’re looking for some good seafood and potatoes =P
I have to admit, I thought I’d be spending less than I did on my lunch… but I’m still glad I stopped by and ate there.

An interesting dining experience. After spending approximately fifteen minutes at the ICA, my friend and I decided to go find some seafood. Seaport Bar & Grille’s colorful façade and rooftop deck looked inviting, so we went to check it out. While looking at the menu, one of the chefs told us that we should definitely eat at Seaport because he puts extra love into all of his dishes. Voila, our decision was made.
We both ordered a lobster roll and a Sam Summer, aka one of the best summer meals ever. And it was. The lobster roll was massive and filled with large chunks of lobster meat. Instead of mayo and celery, it was seasoned with dill, which I thought was both different and delicious. The fries were extremely awesomely delicious (no, really), and the cole slaw was pretty tasty and had a nice consistency.
The only real reason I withheld a star is that the other people there were kinda weird. On our way up to the roof, we had to walk through an indoor dining room, where the people eating there looked at us in a way that made us feel that we had walked into the middle of something. Again, when we went out onto the roof, more than one table of [male] diners very pointedly watched us as we walked over to our table and sat down. I don’t know if Seaport is a hangout for creepers or if we just had bad luck with some randoms, but the whole thing struck both of us as being a little weird.
Anyways, if you want to eat in a casual, unpretentious atmosphere (i.e. plastic silverware on the roof deck and you’ll have to ask for a glass for that bottle of beer) and really fresh, delicious seafood, then this is a solid choice.

Cadet party of Tall Ships, you were way hyped up, and made yourself sound way way too cool… and we are upset at you for sounding cooler than you actually were…
So where did we go? Atlantic Beer Garden was too crowded, so Seaport it was! It was just up the street, and luckily the top deck, after perusing with the security people a bit, our group of top notch Unilocalers all made it up there and had some tables on the deck all to ourselves, complete with a waitress who was willing to take our orders for us, which I guess isn’t usually the case once the kitchen is closed here. The bad news? Up there, from the waitress you can only get bottled beers… And a bud light in a bottle is $ 3.75, which isn’t the cheapest of prices… especially for bud light! I wanted to get a sam adams or something, but nope — only bottles beers and there wasn’t too many options of those for the upstairs bar!
But it was a nice environment with a view of the harbor, and for me being a newbie to boston, I felt like a pretty cool kid – harbor in sight, moonlight overhead, fellow Unilocalers on all sides, and a cold beer in my hand. Pretty nice right?

Sometimes I forget Boston is coastal and thus has cute little, seaside bars. I went here with a group of Unilocalers after a failed Liberty party and the roofdeck was perfect for sharing a few drinks and laughs. Seafood smelled wonderful. Jimmy Buffett should hang out here, always a plus.
One star must always be added for places with photo hunt.

On an evening when Boston’s seaport region descended into madness, and our lovely group of Unilocalers left the worst party Boston’s ever seen (Liberty Party my ass), we needed to find a place to imbibe that wasn’t $ 10 a beer. Enter Seaport.
We came into the little bar area and waited for some form of seating, whether that be inside or upstairs on the roof deck. While waiting, our group did get a little crowded within the small area, but luckily there was the wonder that is Photo Hunt to pass the time :)
While I didn’t get any food (they stop serving food around 10 PM), I was able to get two beers. Furthermore, they had us up on the roof deck relatively quickly, and service was great up there. It was nice to just sit up outside in the cool summer night air without any issues.
Overall, good service, and a place I’d definitely try again, particularly to see how the food is. The atmosphere is great, and the roof deck view is outstanding!

Can’t really remember the food here because it’s been a while since my visit. However, I remember we had great seating at the top deck. Beautiful view!
The food was so so. What made up for the food was the Marines memorabilia (my friend’s husband is a marine and he signed the wall) and the nice staff.

Our poor waitress. I’m sure she’s a very nice girl, but she was no match for our table of four. From the minute we ordered our beers, it was clear she was going to hate us. My husband ordered a Newcastle and her response was «what?» He repeated himself, she took the rest of our orders, and all was presumably well. Except when she came back five minutes later and said they didn’t have Newcastle. So he orders a Magners like I did. When she brings out the two Magners, she tells our friends that there’s no Guinness, which is what they ordered. I mean, really? Couldn’t have told them that the first time you came back?
When we ordered our food, she was also pretty easily confused by our friend asking how big is the plate of fried clams. Again, not something difficult. So we place our food order, some more drinks, and continue our somewhat raucous conversation.
She comes back with the food, and at this point seems afraid of us. Maybe it’s the yelling, or the way that we’re inevitably talking about something tasteless when she makes it to the table, or the way we’re all laughing uncontrollably. Regardless, the gleam of fear is in her eyes and now we’re sure she hates us and we’ll never see her again, so we order more beers.
The food wasn’t that bad. I got the lobster quesadilla and an order of fries. The quesadilla was pretty good! No tail meat to be found, but claw and knuckle meat was plentiful. The fries are awesomely crispy and seasoned, although I threw some vinegar and salt on there just because.
After we finished eating, the poor girl tried to get rid of us. She probably came over every 20 minutes to see if we needed anything else or our check. We got through another 2 rounds of beers like this when we finally gave her a reprieve and got the check. And yes, we gave her a good tip for dealing with us (although honestly, she could have done it much better).
Basically, a good place to drink outside and have decent, over-​priced seafood. Would I go again? … probably not.

This place is only getting two stars because their service sucked. Literally. Sucked. It was a beautiful day at the waterfront and Seaport is lucky to be right on the water giving me the ability to get sun. After 20 minutes of being compeltely ignored by each and every wait staff, I had to contain my anger to not leave. But it was just so nice out, I couldn’t leave.
Thus, I went DOWNSTAIRS to the first floor bar to buy my own cocktails since the waitstaff was incompetant. When I get down to the first floor bar, the bartender is playing with a baby (perhaps a grandson or nephew or something) behind the bar. Something is not right with this picture. While she was nice and I’m sure the baby is adorable, it just didn’t scream «superior bar service» to me nor was it an appropriate place for a baby.
When we finally got noticed, the waitstaff was very pleasant and cordial. I just don’t understand how you can let customers go unnoticed. And note, this is NOT the first time this has happened to me.
Food is fine. Basic fried food, fish and chips and fish sandwiches are the way to go. Don’t go expecting something amazing — but its decent. Fries too are good. Wing dings are bland. Calamari is good.
And by the way, the bathrooms smell.
But, still I have returned, despite my disappointment. But its the roof deck, outdoor access to the sun that keeps me coming back. Perhaps this is the ambience they strive for — perhaps positioning themselves as a dive? Who know.

I’m torn between giving this place a good review because I freaking love this place or a bad review so I can keep it to myself.
Seaport Bar and Grille is Boston as it was and as it should be. Boston before popped collars and BMWs. Where the waitstaff is slow, sometimes surly, but always with a THICK Boston accent.
The dining room is circa 1985, with flowers painted on the tables and old wooden chairs — but it literally hangs out over the Harbor giving you great water views — ALWAYS ask for a table by the window!
The food is not gourmet, but it is delicious. If you are looking for truffle braised something something, go someplace else. Here you get iceberg lettuce and rice pilaf — simple and perfect.
The Seafood Regatta in the White Wine sauce, is absolutely the best item on the menu. It’s $ 20 and is stocked FULL of meaty bits of lobster, shrimp and scollops.
In the summer months, this place is an amazing hideaway. I have been known to spend entire days on the roofdeck. Enjoying the sun, the sea and the stupid tourists.
YAY Seaport!

After a wedding reception ended at the classy hotel across the street, about 60 people entered the Seaport bar & grille, including about 20 folks from overseas. It was fantastic. The bartenders were very cool despite dealing with inebriated folks with accents who ordered things in such a manner: «I’d like a Magners, a brandy, 2 bud lights. erm, eh,…Paddy! Paddy! what do ya want? .Ah, another bud light, and a Magners, and 2 more bud lights».
When a bar staff can keep their cool, and let a group just continue their seemless party celebrations, I have a hard time saying anything negative about the place.

I think the secret to understanding your dining experience here can be best described as this: the healthier the food, the less you’re going to enjoy it. For example, there were two of us for lunch, and we shared both meals. Here is the breakdown of the food we had, tastiest first:
–french fries
–lobster quesadilla
–pan seared scallops
–sauteed mushrooms
The french fries, incidentally, only won by a bit — but they really are that good. Trust me. I don’t even like fries. These are small portions of potato angels or something.
The restaurant itself is basically the spitting image of any good place you’d find in Maryland that has what I like to call ‘comfort seafood’ — the more fried it is, the better; the more food you have on your hands and clothes when you leave, the better. Only thing that was missing was some Old Bay on the table. Had that been there, that and the view would have had me forget for a moment that I was actually just in Boston… in the wintertime… with a sweater on… on my lunch break.
A bit of an identity crisis, sure. You’re walking into a time warp, at least for Boston standards. It’s hip, but only because it’s so not hip at all. It’s charmingly mismatched in there, through and through. Delicious food knows no boundaries, though, and while this may be the antithesis to Legal Sea Foods as far as ambiance goes, Seaport Grille can hold its own when it comes to its food. So if you are the type to shy away from the no-​frills, real Chesepeake Bay in the summertime vibe, give the Grille a shot to satisfy a major seafood craving, at the very least.

Eh. We went here with my bf’s parents when I was trying to go to the Yankee Lobster Fish Market but couldn’t find it in the dark. This is one of those family restaurants with dingy carpet, armed forces memorabilia and cheap silverware that bends in the dishwasher.
The clam chowder was thick and flavorful with nice soft potatoes, the best part of the meal. I was not impressed by my lobster roll, which was all claw meat with little to no tail. The lobster meat was shredded, not in chunks, and the overseasoned dressing masked the purity of the lobster.
Bf’s shrimp, scallop and lobster over linguine with white wine cream sauce was fine, not remarkable. The scallops in both his dish and his mom’s were overcooked.
Service was friendly but terribly confused. People kept coming to our table to ask if we’d been served, then bringing the wrong dish over to ask if it was ours, while our rightful food was peddled to nearby tables.

This was a great little place that gladly accommodated a rush of people when we were staying up the street at the Seaport hotel during a big conference. My only caveat was that the service was bad — I must have waited at the bar for 30 minutes trying to get a drink and finally gave up drinkless.
They were nice enough, and the prices were good from what friends who actually got served told me, but that was about it.

This is the sort of bar my sister and her sorority friends used to visit all the time in their tiny tiny college town– a ‘townie bar’ but more expensive. I think the mistake I made here was ordering the lobster bisque (give me a break! I have a list to maintain!). The bisque was disgusting. It looked like thousand island dressing with melted ricotta in it. It tasted even worse than out of the can. It is actually worse bisque than Anthony’s Pier 4. I found no trace of lobster. It had floating grease. Ugh, fantastically repulsive.
I also had a burger (I only had about 2 bites of the soup). Also not good. The drinks are fine and the waitstaff is pleasant and reasonably prompt. You can’t deny that the deck is really nice on a summer evening. Next time, I’m eating before I go.

The downstairs looks like an old school strip joint with the mirrors on the ceiling and the tough crowd. Seriously, I’ve seen my Aunt from Southie (who I wouldn’t want to see in a dark alleyway) here after work boozing it up like no other. Nothing special here, just good service and heavy pours.
Yesterday, about 25 people went here to afterparty from my company’s Summer Outting on the Spirit of Boston. We all enjoyed the roof deck seating and when it started to rain we just moved the afterparty inside and played some Journey on the jukebox and just kept on drinking.
The food is typical bar food with seafood flair. Nothing great, but you wont go hungry. I’ve had a cheeseburger plate and it was enough to fill me up.
If you’re the type that doesn’t care about going out to be seen, then the Seaport is pretty chill to just hang out on the roof, drinking from plastic cups and enjoying the summer breaze. Tia’s it ain’t, but I don’t feel like dropping a hundred bucks just for some seafood either.

Just looking up this place to write my review brings back the feeling the lobster pasta left with me and let me just say it’s not a good feeling. *burp*
The location looked good enough. A place overlooking the water. Of course you can get fresh seafood there, right? Wrong! My lobster pasta tasted funny. I almost think it was fake lobster. Although it looked like a lobster it didn’t really taste like lobster. I can’t even explain the taste or texture. It reminded me of like a tofu hot dog or tofu turkey or something where it looks like one thing but it’s really not. A total imposter! I couldn’t finish it. My stomach hurts just thinking about it :-(

People who have reviewed this restaurant must be confused. No one can look at this place and think «I bet they have an executive chef that rivals Tom Douglas». If you do think that, you’re probably so stupid that you can’t read this sentence to know that I am insulting you.
The lobster roll (not listed on the menu) is pretty decent, as is the New England Clam Chowder, but really, this is a place to go and have a beer (or five) and relax.

Eww. This place is super creepy. We showed up to eat with a pretty large group after the Barking Crab was closed for a huge party. We all ordered drinks and our meals. Our drinks showed up about 30 minutes later. Our food about 30 minutes after that. Only it wasn’t everyone’s food. Just about 4 of us got our meals. There was no explanation where the other meals were. When the other meals finally arrived 15 minutes later they were completely wrong. It was a disaster.
The worst part… we were the only people there!
I won’t be going back ever.
