Great, old fashioned barbershop. Had to wait a long while because Jimmy takes his time– about half an hour per patron– but it shows positively in the results. Just moved here from Philadelphia and have been looking for a barber. First time going, and it was like we were already old friends. Needless to say, I found my barber!

Jimmy is the best barber in Boston, it’s a simple as that. I made the mistake of getting my hair cut somewhere else in a pinch, and nothing else compares. Jimmy takes a personal investment in every haircut, and every customer. His rates are fair, his conversation is ridiculous, and he’s an incredible barber. If you wanna get compliments on your hair for the next month after a cut, go stop by today.

I’ve been shaving my own head for years now due to the horrors of male pattern baldness. Even though I dearly miss my hair, I think I miss going to Big Dog even more. It truly is an experience as Jimmy takes his time meticulously crafting your cut while pulling from a seemingly endless supply of entertaining stories. That’s important to me, because I’m a pretty quiet guy and when I have a barber without much to say, it can get a bit awkward. When he’s done, I get the feeling that he really wants you to look good and takes pride in his work.
The only drawback was the wait (I was always a walk in) of 30 minutes or so. However, for a reasonably priced cut that lasts 30 minutes, the wait is well worth it.

Be a man among men. Don’t look like crap. Head on over to Big Dog Barbershop and let Jimmy clean you up without cleaning you out.

Jimmy at Big Dog is the best. I come out to Brighton from Hyde Park to get my hair cut there roughly every other week. I won’t go anywhere else. I’ve never had a better barber, always leave feeling like a new man. If you’re looking for an exceptional cut and all the right sh*t talkin’ that a proper barbershop should have, he’s your guy.

Jimmy is the best. You get an amazing classic haircut with a side of life advice and storytelling mixed in. Really feels like a community when you walk through the doors. My go to spot in Boston for a great men’s haircut. No BS.

Been coming here for about a year now, ever since my barber left the shop he was working at and I was tipped off about this place. I’ve gotten at least 5 – 6 haircuts here and I have to say it’s really the best barber shop I’ve ever been to.
Jim does a meticulous job of cutting hair and ensures that everyone gets the best treatment. The only downside is that the wait can get long at times because Jim doesn’t sacrifice the quality of the cut regardless of the amount of people waiting. Thankfully he’s really personable and has some really great stories and anecdotes to keep you entertained while you’re there. He even goes the extra mile by keeping a fridge topped off with drinks — including YooHoo and beer — for the customers.
All for a cut that’s under $ 20

Note: This is really a mens’ barbershop and even the ambiance reflects that. It may not be the best place to bring a woman, even if they’re just going to wait for you, as the humor can be a bit crude.

I was told about this place by friends for a few months before I finally decided to go. Everyone i knew that went and got a haircut from Jim always looked sharp. Jim does a certain style (think madmen) cut well. Anything else I can’t vouch for. The atmosphere is great. There is even a hidden beer fridge for the customers. You would never guess it without someone telling you.
If you’re a man go get a haircut from here and come back to exclaim how great it is.
