I am sorry to say… your place is a dump. we got.8n town on a Sunday night… your place was the only one with a room in town. We paid $ 134 for a room #19…the towels were old and crusty… mold in the shower, rust in the bathroom sink, I would put any food on the kitchen counters… the room stunk, and the people next to us were discusted with the room also. What a Dive The Borrego Spring Hotel is sooo clean and only $ 99… by the way room 1 – 6 might be ok

Stanlunds was a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful; their demeanor helped make the entire stay feel homey and relaxed.
The rooms are simple but clean, spacious, and well-​maintained. An interesting mix of amenities both new and old: solid WiFi, a great shower, a shmancy TV… a tolerably-​comfy bed, and an older-​style kitchenette (but well-​stocked with utensils). Nothing fancy, but exactly what we had hoped for: a place to relax in between hikes and sun, and to unwind in evenings.
It was a true delight to sit on the room’s patio in the mornings, taking in the warm desert morning air, breakfasting, and planning for the day’s Anza Borrego expeditions.

We give this place 5+ stars due to the hospitality shown at the front desk! The owner checked us in and was so friendly and helpful. We were very comfortable and really enjoyed exploring the area using our room as «home base.» We expect to return to stay here many more times!!!

We have stayed at Standlunds for over 30 years. We love room 7 as it has a kitchenette, 2 queen beds, and a great view. We feel like we’re in our desert home each year. The staff is great and very accommodating. We love being on the patio as much as possible. Great location! This is an older motel but it has such charm — it just works so well for us.

Stanlunds Inn & Suites is a small motel in Borrego Springs. It is a relatively cheap, basic, 1950s style motel with a few upgrades (TVs and Bathrooms).
We booked 2 rooms last minute due to its location in Anza-​Borrego Desert State Park. The rooms were comfortable; both had kitchenettes with basic supplies. We stayed for 1 night in December where the temperatures were approximately 30 degrees at night. One of the rooms had sufficient heat and the other room was a suite, so it was 1 heater for 2 rooms (which didn’t heat as well). The TV has cable (we were watching Travel Channel) and the bathrooms were in good working order with a shower and glass doors.
They also served continental breakfast from 7am to 9am… but we weren’t able to get up early enough for that, so I can’t comment. There is also an outdoor pool (which I think will be great for summer).
Conclusion: If you’re looking for something basic, relatively cheap, quiet, and dog friendly, this is the place to go!

Update from August 2013 review last year: I just have to say that Martin and the other people who work here have been so incredible, responsive, and accommodating that I have to give five stars again. I stay here every time I visit Borrego Springs, and their kindness and responsiveness has been incredible. Great value, too. $ 100 during the July 4^th holiday weekend for #1, a large suite with a full kitchen and living room, is a great value. I also love having the swimming pool, as it’s rather hot now. Excellent.

Back again this year and like last year it was a grate gun and enjoyable stay and relaxing. BTW they have up dated the rooms with more modern admen ties like flat screan TVs but the beds have some miles on them. Other then that it was a grate stay and enjoyable. Staff was very accommodate bull as well. Thank you all again for a grate stay!!!

I have stayed here twice. I have been pleased both times. You need to remember this place is an old school modest roadside motel. Not the cleanest and certainly not gonna win any AAA platinum diamond awards or anything. This is nice little place to stay while out exploring Anza Borrego. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The pool was filled with crickets, but it was cool. They were relieving themselves from the desert heat also. The beds were comfortable and we had no problems with any of the appliances. The only downside is the cable went out during my last stay. It wasn’t the motels fault, it was the cable companies. I would stay here again will be back.

I found the room to be a little musty-​stuffy… But for the area, and my needs (hot shower/​roof over my head) it was great.

Well, Stanlunds certainly wasn’t the highlight of an otherwise great weekend in the small sandwiched-​by-​mountains desert town of Borrego Springs. I knew this motel wasn’t going to be incredible, but, even so, I was disappointed in the lack of care clearly shown to this place by Stanlunds management.
We paid $ 91.80 total for our 1-​night stay. Ouch! Maybe they upped the price to take advantage of the weekend’s Circle of Art festival.
POSITIVES:
* Located about half a mile from Christmas Circle, the main part of town.
* Cheaper than most other lodging options in the area.
* The 7−9AM complimentary continental breakfast, though selection was minimal and items weren’t replenished even as early as 8AM.
* The sufficient AC unit in our guest room.
* Hot water and decent shower pressure.
* Plenty of parking right outside the guest rooms.
NEGATIVES:
* A welcome that was far from warm, though the farewell was better.
* Filling out a «registration form» by hand.
* Unable to connect to the free Wi-​Fi even once.
* The bed, pillows, and linens.
* Leftover toiletries from a previous guest, I think.
* Lots of broken and old stuff.
The main issue I have with Stanlunds is that the property just seems so neglected. Shotty repairs, minimal upgrades, bare-​minimum cleanliness. It really bothered me that when my husband and I walked in our guest room the first thing I noticed was that every piece of furniture and every piece of wall art was crooked. Pure laziness. Also, there was a softball-​sized hole in the floor of the breakfast area stuffed with filthy old newspapers, in plain view. A scenario straight out of an episode of Hotel Impossible.
To add to the negative list, our room’s mini fridge gets its own paragraph. I can sleep through just about anything, but this fridge nearly drove me mad. I think it had 3 different sounds, all of which were not unlike sound emitted from a commercial airliner powering down a runway for take-​off. My God. To add to the experience, the thing wasn’t plugged in, doors wide open, upon our check-​in. Just a few hours later, it had frozen all our beverages.

Calling it a «Resort Inn» & Suites paints a picture of Grandeur that will disappoint. It is a fairly old roadside Motel, not fancy, but kept-​up fairly well, and clean.

The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because of the staff. They’re very friendly and helpful! But the building is very run down. We had no hot water in the shower, the toilet seat was loose, the stove top wouldn’t even cook eggs, the refrigerator froze all of our food and the kitchen faucet drips constantly.

Stayed here a dozen times over the last 15 years. It’s the kind of motel that you can look outside of your room and see if your car is still there (quote from Bruce Springstein). Nice pool to hang out in. I stay in the rooms with kitchens. Pretty cheap and they really have to change the grungy carpet. Clean otherwise. Really old style place. I take the rooms with patios. This is a «one horse» motel and I really like it.

Nice clean room to relax after a long day working in Borrego. Staff is hospitable and Wed complimentary bbq is a plus. Definitely recommend to anybody I know.

Clean, well maintained, quirky motel. Love this place. Got me a little mini suite with a kitchen and patio with a BBQ. In the morning I woke up and went for the continental breakfast that was included in the price. What a perfect launching pad for exploring Anza-​Borrego Park. Come back from a day’s long hike and jump into the crystal clear pool!
Next Time? I am gonna try out the BBQ and chill in the patio!

This is a basic, classic 50s motel. You feel like you just went back in time in a really good way… It’s not fancy, but it’s clean, priced well and has everything you need. It’s convenient, but away from the busy downtown street. The owner is super friendly and helpful and really concerned about his customers. There’s a free simple breakfast — which was a surprise. Definitely a good stay.

This cottage style motel in the middle of the Anza-​Borrego Desert was quintessentially Californian with palm trees, a swimming pool, the cool night air, and a full moon rising. The rooms are quite large with adjoining provisioned kitchens, walk thru closet, and bathroom. TV, air conditioning, patio with chairs and table, and a continental breakfast round your stay out nicely. A quiet, clean, and friendly spot to rest up during your desert adventures.
