Oakley-Moody Service

Car wouldn’t start after I stopped at Big City Coffee for lunch. Saw Oakley-​Moody Service shop down the street and walked in looking for help. They towed my car over, tested and ended up having to replace my starter. To my surprise they bumped me to the front of the line since they knew I was stranded and from out of town. A couple hours and less than $ 350 later I was out the door and on my way. Great guys who know a lot about cars. Couldn’t be happier with the price and service I received. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone.

This place was a God send last week!!! Taking a road trip with my dog up to Coeur d’Alene from San Francisco and my truck stopped running on the freeway. Pulled over, didn’t see anything obvious, so off the dog and I went walking to the first exit we could. We literally stumbled across this place as it was so close to the freeway exit. I first spoke with Anthony, explained my situation, and was surprised at their labor rate (of course, I AM from California, so anything else is cheaper, LOL) and next thing I knew they had my Dakota towed to their shop and dug right into it! I decided to go get some food with the dog and after lunch we came back not even two hours later and the truck was sitting there waiting and fixed. Holy cow! Apparently one of the wires under the fuse box had corroded and broken and they were able to install a new section of wiring all within that time. I would not hesitate to use this shop if I ever break down in Idaho again. I may just move there to be closer to them! And I hope they liked the beer I left on their door step on my way back home a couple nights later.

First of all, a disclaimer: I do not know these guys on a personal basis, nor do I have any vested interst in writing this review. I just appreciate good service and ethical practices and pricing, and believethis business is worthy of some good press via word of mouth (or web). I initially brought my 1994 Chevy conversion van in here in 2009 to have a number of things repaired before my family’s trip to California. They replace my serpentine belt, replaced and/​or fixed two broken locks, a broken door handle, recharged my air conditioning system and replaced a leaking radiator hose. Everything was done on time and worked perfect. The best thing about it was the price. It came in at almost $ 300 lss than my previous shop quoted me. I’ve been going back ever since with all kinds of things, master cylinders, brake service, water pump, transmission issues; always fixed promptly and always fair prices. They even treated my girlfriend fairly, they quoted her the same prices they quoted me on some things we needed to have done on her Grand Am, which was nice to see. Other places seem to like to unethically quote the womenfolk higher prices.

Took my van there in mid 2008, a slight shaking in the motor. They claim it was one thing, fixed it for almost $ 1000. Then, when the «shake» was still there after their «repair», they said it was this other thing now and it was going to be another $ 600. I walked and never returned. Took the van in to another shop, $ 75 later, problem solved, no shake. Not saying they did any thing on purpose but I personally will never go to them. They felt no sadness at all for their missed repair when I asked about it. Shrugged their shoulders like «not our problem» attitude. Not cool.

These guys have seen it all. They’re especially great with electrical problems and they’re always reasonably priced. In our experience, they’ll fiind the least expensive solution and if they can’t fix it they’ll know the person who can. If you’re buying a used car, take it by Oakley moody for a spot-​on evaluation.
