History

Established in 1966.

In 1966, Bob Benkert decided it was time to open a menswear store that was truly unique. A shop based on a respect for the tradition of fine apparel, quality and customer service. One that would offer a luxury range of the best clothing, footwear and accessories from prestigious makers from around the globe. From those sincere beginnings, the Claymore Shop began.

Over the years, The Claymore Shop has become a favorite of many, because of what makes it so different — the extraordinary lengths it goes to please customers. As a unique purveyor of fine clothing, its sales representatives are trained to work with each and every client to help them build their perfect wardrobe. Bob Benkert is the CEO and Merchandise Manager at the Claymore Shop. One of the original founders and owner, he has over 40 years of selling and buying menswear, with the ability to anticipate and even spark off a sartorial trend. In 1967, he was among the first to introduce the genius of Ralph Lauren to his customers with the designer’s original neckwear line.
