My husband purchased the «Baby Me» spa package for my first Mother’s Day. It was absolutely heavenly! The package included a massage and facial. Tony did both, along with a sugar scrub on my feet. She had a very calming demeanor and I felt instantly comfortable and at ease with her. The citrus product she used smelled amazing and I left feeling great!
(I will admit that I was a little nervous going in. It took me multiple unreturned calls to make an appointment, and when I finally did get through the lady who scheduled my appointment wasn’t very pleasant. HOWEVER, Tony totally made up for that, which is why I am still giving them 5 stars. If you go here definitely request Tony. you will not be sorry!)

I purchased the Groupon for the couples massage, my husband and I enjoyed the experience everything was great! We had the tea afterwards really good, massage was great especially the foot massage! Our only complaint to short… Great place beautiful atmosphere will go again for sure…

My first visit to your Birmingham location for a «friends massage» was just ok. There was nothing special in her technique compared to many other massages I’ve had. The therapist worked on both of us and no where in your ads does it state this. There is no private room to undress or robes to put on. Having purchased 2 groupon packages, i had to go again but decided to change the 2^nd visit to facials for 2. I recognized the employee as the very SAME one that did our massages a month prior .When I asked what her title was, she answered Estician. I replied I think you did my massage last time? Are you a massage therapist? Her reply was «I am an Estician «and said she did NOT massage me. WHAT? Why lie to my face!!! That explains a lot in her lack of professionalism and knowledge pretending to know both services. Our facials were rushed and not very thorough .I’m insulted and will not return nor do I recommend this company. They certainly have their website fooling many of us. Not worth the $$. Even with the groupon discount.

Used 2 Groupons here (one for myself and one for my SO), and the service was FANTASTIC. I will admit that the voicemail thing can be a little annoying, as the previous reviewer suggested, but it can easily be remedied when you check their hours of business. (Appointments can apparently run after official hours of business but within the specified time span, there will be someone to answer your call).
The atmosphere is otherworldly – the business itself is situated in a large building that houses other establishments but as soon as you step inside, you feel as if you entered a quaint little Narnia of relaxing spas. The masseuses were very professional and kind, often asking after my comfort, etc. (which you would think would be a given, but after going to several places where some of its workers were literally just going through the motions, interest in one’s well-​bring is a huge deal, especially considering the money you spend).

Wonderful couples massage via Groupon. So relaxing, very professional services. Second time visiting, will definitely return. These ladies treat a customer right… lol

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience here. I found this place on Groupon and called to make an appointment for my boyfriend and I for his birthday. I was told that they had an opening since someone cancelled so I took it. When we showed up they were very nice and we were really excited for our massage. I was told it was a 60 minute massage with a foot rub/​scrub. We went into the tiny room that is just off of the main tiny room to undress and wait for our massage. We waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally we heard another couple walk in and were very uncomfortable since the place was too small to accommodate anymore people. They massaged the other couple’s feet while we sat and waited. I finally received a weak massage and my boyfriend was still waiting! About 10 minutes into my massage they began his and after 10 minutes it was over! We were then told to sit outside and wait for our foot rub. We waited over 30 minutes while the other couple got their massage. At this point we were pissed and grossed out that there were no sinks for them to wash their hands. I was so disappointed and it was the worst birthday gift I had even given.

Had a pretty bad experience at the Birmingham location last August. To begin with, I never got a confirmation call the day before which would have been helpful in this case because the spa is located above a bank which had already closed when I got there and the Maple street entrance to the upstairs was locked. I made a phone call, but no one picked up so I called the Franklin location and luckily got a hold of someone who told me to try the entrance around the corner. Eventually I found it and made my way up to the spa where I met the two therapists (for a couples massage) who didn’t seem all that concerned or apologetic about me being locked out and arriving late because of it. My husband thought his massage was O.K., while I had a slightly different experience. During the foot scrub/​massage my therapist stopped and whispered into my ear that she was not going to continue on with the foot portion because she felt plantar’s warts on one of my feet (!). I told her those were moles and I’ve had them forever, but she was not going to take my word for it (and for the record, I saw my doctor a month later to have these ‘warts’ checked out and she was 99.9% positive they weren’t just by looking at them — could’ve done a biopsy to confirm, but I didn’t think it was necessary). Anyway, our massages ended right at the time they were supposed to had we been on time for them, but I guess it was our fault that we couldn’t find the right entrance or get someone to answer their phone. I was not about to leave a tip, but my husband went ahead and put $ 20 in the envelope when I wasn’t looking. I was not impressed and I hope they get what they deserve… to not keep clients and eventually go out of business!

My boyfriend got a groupon for a couple’s massage AND WE LOVE IT SO MUCH that we are going again. From the moment you walk in the door, the atmosphere was very high class, relaxing, and soothing.
The massage was well worth every penny. They worked out every knot I had and literally made my body melt like it was butter. They used hot stone (AMAZING) and also included a foot scrub/​treatment! At the conclusion of our massage, they served us tea and cookies.
The staff was very high level and you could tell they put a lot of effort into the detail of the décor and their services. Overall, I highly recommend this place!

I got a Groupon for this place after not being able to schedule an appointment at my regular spa for several months. Although I saw a few negative Unilocal reviews about, I am glad that I ignored them. I received incredible service from Tony who gave me a massage with hot stones, relaxing facial and foot treatment. And the place was quaint, clean, and quiet.
I will admit, it was a little hard to find especially using my iphone navigation. The map location did not match the actual location but once you listen to the spa’s voice greeting, they tell you exactly where it is.
Not only do you get the choice of a mimosa or tea you also get delicious chocolates. I like this place overall.
I will say, the one drawback is the concierge service. It is rare that anyone answers the phone. But they do call you back in a reasonable amount of time.

I had a very unpleasant experience at the Birmingham location. My feet were «smoothed down» with a nail file during my pedicure. The woman doing my pedicure got nail polish on my new sandals. During my pedicure, another woman was getting a massage in the next room. About 20 minutes into her massage, a man came in and said he was her friend, and went into the massage room. After the massage was over with, the massage therapist came out, and the young man and woman were in the room for another 15 — 20 minutes. This didn’t make me comfortable at all, knowing that my massage would be in that very same room… not very professional.
During my «massage,» someone came into the spa, and my massage therapist had to leave mid-​massage, to help the guest out because no one else was out there. The 60 minute massage that I paid for ended up being only 30 minutes. I didn’t complain at the time, because to be honest, I wanted to get out of there. The girl giving me my massage did not seem trained at all. It was the worst massage I have ever had.
The woman giving me my manicure used base coat as a top coat, so my nails were all smudged before I even left.
I wrote an email, letting the manager know of my experience. She replied, telling me I was wrong. Fantastic customer service! I will never be back to any of the Franklin Spa locations.

I purchased a Groupon for a back massage and foot treatment. I purchase discount services all the time to try a new place for the first time. I was very pleased with the service. Pros: the suite is in a large building and was very easy to find. The ladies were waiting on me when I arrived. They were extremely pleasant and welcoming. The massage was EXCELLENT! I usually prefer a male therapist because I like extremely deep pressure. Kiya was the therapist and she was phenomenal! Her stature is small, but her hands are STRONG! I absolutely love the deep pressure and was pleasantly surprised. Overall it was an amazing massage!
Cons: parking… not nearly enough parking close to the building. It wasn’t a bad walk less than a block, but a walk nonetheless. Water, they give you after the massage is a glass of water which requires to sit there and drink versus a bottle to go. I already had a bottle in my purse so I declined the glass. Yes I would recommend!

My husband purchased a Groupon Deal for me and one for my sister. The scheduling was a nightmare; the first time we booked our appts. the owner Maria scheduled us, not together, but an hour apart. When we showed for our appts. her employee took two other people ahead of us; they took my sister and rescheduled me. To add insult to injury — the next time I showed for my appt. I called to tell them that I was going to be 5 mins. late because of traffic/​parking. I walked into the appt. and they’d already started on another person in my place. Not wanting to waste my husband’s money — I booked another appt. While the woman who worked on me was good, I’ll never, NEVER, never go back or refer anyone to this business. Pleasant décor and a nice employee/​technician does nothing if the business owner is unprofessional and irresponsible.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would be all over that. I purchased a groupon and set my appointment for 9am on a weekday. The woman on the phone confirmed the date, time, and location for the Royal Oak, Franklin Spa. She repeated the address and information twice and then I read it back to confirm a third time. I showed up 10 minutes before my appointment time and waited outside. Ten after nine, no call from the spa so I called them. No answer at the spa I was waiting in front of so I called the Birmingham spa and the lady that booked my appointment just happened to answer the call. I told her that no one was at the spa and she said that I was at the wrong location and that I was really booked at the Birmingham office. Ironically, reading other posts from fellow grouponers I found that this was a regular business practice for them. The other shady part is that this location has had so many negative posts that they added their name differently on Unilocal to get a better review rating. I can tell you that I would never recommend any business that operates as this one does. Spend your money with a reputable spa… not here.

Birmingham Tea Spa is wonderful. I purchased two Groupons for couples’ massage for my boyfriend and me, and we both loved it! The décor is lovely, a French-​Asian mix, the music is perfect, and the staff is welcoming and professional. It’s a peaceful, quiet, serene setting. We were offered champagne, tea, or water as soon as we came in.
The first time we went we did share one masseuse, but somehow she made it work, and it was great. This time, we each had our own masseuse, and that was even better. Keia did an incredible job on my back massage. I’m an attorney and spend a lot of time at my computer, writing. I must carry a lot of tension and stress. I didn’t even realize this until Keia started pressing on some knots in my upper back/​neck region. Yikes! Very painful, but she worked them out. As I’ve gotten older I’m very aware of things like the need for good blood flow to all parts of the body, so I really appreciated this. She worked on my back and arms until I felt like a rag doll, I was so relaxed. Figured with all the time she’d taken, there was probably none left for the facial but I was wrong! She did that too, and it was fabulous. The whole thing was almost a spiritual experience.
I’ve had quite a few massages in my life, but usually felt they were pretty ho-​hum. Just someone rubbing lotion on me. This one was absolutely the best, even better than one I had in a tree house at a spa in Pondicherry, India. I realize I need to have this done on a regular basis. I will definitely be back! Well worth the price.

My husband bought me a groupon for two 30 min massages. Little did he know, it was a couples massage…30min massage each. The groupon was not clear. It wasn’t until I called to schedule myself two 30 min massages that I was told what the groupon was for. When I explained it was a gift and the misunderstanding, they were very understand and said I could schedule myself two 30 min massages without any hassle. I was appreciative and thought that was very nice and professional.
The location can be difficult to find if you do not map it ahead of time. It’s not your ideal place for a spa, but the room itself is beautiful. So it works. I was a little concerned when I first arrived because there was a note outside the door that said to have a seat and wait till someone comes for you. I wasn’t sure how they would know I was there waiting then worried what was on the other side of the door. But like others have stated in previous posts, it is a beautifully decorated space and the massage area is a separate room. And I only waited about 10min. I was early so it worked out.
The 30 min massage was wonderful. Maria used massage, hot stones, and hot towels. It was only 30 min but I felt the timing of everything was a good amount of time. We focused on my neck, shoulders, and back. She even fit in my chest and arms. It felt like I was there longer than 30min, but it wasn’t a min later. I felt relaxed when I left.
Overall I would recommend this place if you are alone. I can see where the other reviews may be coming from if you are doing a couples together and only one therapist.
Hopefully my next massage that’s scheduled in two weeks will be just as good as this experience. If so, I will be back.

I feel terrible that the last few reviews I’ve done have been negative.
This place would get 0 stars if that was possible. I bought a package through groupon ($ 100) for my mother and her twin. They received only five minutes of massage each. The lunch provided was sub par but that’s understandable. Not only did they not receive the services advertised, when I called afterward to clarify, the lady was rude, called me liar, told me she didn’t care, and then… classy: hung up on me. I wanted to treat my mom and aunt to a fun, relaxing ladies’ day, should have just gone to a nice wine bar and spent the 100 bones there.
Also, the other review was right on the money, hard to find… I believe because it’s in a janky looking business building with no signs.

I’m torn between 2 to 3 stars. I had the groupon for the Blossom duo couples facials, neck and shoulders massages, and choice of tea or mimosas. It was a birthday gift for my husband who’s never been to a spa but I knew was dying to go. We cashed it in a few months late.
The place is tiny, cute, clean with a very serene atmosphere. I loved it at first sight.
We were offered water or tea, we picked water. Filled out some info and got to business. The massage room is nice, with two clean massage beds. Again the décor was beautiful. We undressed top half and our masseuse started with me (!) she gave me my facial which consisted mainly of a soapy wash, a facial scrub, some hydrating lotion, and then she moved on to my husband. She came back to me and gave me my neck massage then to him. The hot stone was used briefly after the massage for maybe about a minute total.
The experience was nice. Nothing extravagant. It was definitely not worth the $ 110 groupon price plus tip. We weren’t offered mimosas. The facial products smelled great, but were too mild. And I felt like she spent much less time on my husband, possibly because of his facial hair –maybe it annoyed her. The massage was great, but the use of hot stone at the end was way too brief. The worst part which bothered me the most was that we only had one masseuse!!! The total time was about 40 mins. So barely 15 – 20 mins each? Unacceptable. The whole point of couples massages is that we share the experience, not wait for each other.
Anyway, overall he appreciated the idea and the experience, but we were both underwhelmed. I probably won’t be coming back again, not for that kind of price anyway.

This place is a terrible.
A friend of mine purchased the groupon deal for the friends package.
We were a few minutes late, and after we parked, it took us a while to find out where the place is because there are no signs. Once we got up there we were greeted with «I’ve been waiting for you» in a attitude filled manner.
Then as soon as we got onto the separate beds, each of us maybe got a total of 10 minutes worth of work. We intitally wanted the hot stones, but the lady there told us they did not have the hot stones, and instead they only had the hot towels.
The facial we got was nothing more than what I usually do at home, AND she used a brush to dip into the can of the facial mask over an over again. Not sure how many times that’s been done before, or whos face «juices» the can contains.
The music that was playing was not at all relaxing, it was rather loud, and not spa-​like.
Lastly, the steam machine they use for the facials, makes a loud ticking noise as its running, which takes away from the calmness a massage is supposed to give you. Speaking of massages, she merely rubbed lotion on my neck and shoulders, and called it a massage.
Save your money, and go somewhere else. really.

Okay Okay, so my whole experience may have been amazing no matter what because it was gifted– you caught me… But I assure you I’m not blinded by the glimmer of a free massage and facial. It was spectacular either way. I do have to say that my opinion on facials needs to be taken with a grain of salt because this was my first one. (Can I say that they were built up to be way more special than what I experienced?) But I won’t hold it against Franklin Spas. They were so great. My friend Kendra and I had the ‘Girls Day at the Spa’ massage and facial and it was fabulous. Between the champagne they gave us, the great smells, the nice feels, and the soothing atmosphere I never wanted to leave! But I had to, they kicked us out. But we will be back! That’s a definite!
