Bear View Chalet

We actually stayed in the condos down below the main house. It was a bit of a debacle from the start. I booked online via the Big Bear website. I then received an email from Rich, indicating that my credit card had been declined –which was not the case. My card had been charged the full amount as indicated by my account. I began to get an «uneasy» feeling about the rental of this property after exchanging a few emails and phone calls as a result of the above. Rich gave us the address, our unit number and the lock code key. I emailed him and called him well in advance to let him know we would be arriving later — between 10 and 11 pm the day of our arrival. We arrive to find another family in unit B – the unit that had been reserved/​assigned to us. After about an hour on the phone with my family (children) waiting in the car in the cold, it was determined that the other family was in fact in the unit that was reserved for us. After some more time, we were finally told we could occupy Unit C. The unit was clean, albeit very outdated, but we really only cared about cleanliness. Upon departure, we returned the unit to the same or better condition we found it in. I called a few days after departure to find out when we could expect to receive the credit for our $ 300 security deposit which had been charged to my credit card a week prior to arrival. Rich indicated that he usually does it in about 10 days, but claimed that a couch pillow had been burned from our unit. I told him that was not possible, since we didn’t have a fire or have any pillows near the stove or heating unit, nor did we notice any burning on the pillows when we arrived or left. I called and emailed few more times to inquire about the deposit return and was told it would happen in the next few days. Finally, on the 21^st day, I called (left a message) and emailed indicating that I would have not choice but to file a claim if I didn’t receive the credit. That’s when I received a response indicating that he was charging me $ 35 for the damaged pillow and that he had already refunded $ 265.

the website shows a beautiful place! The day we drove up there we got a call before we reached there that the heater was broken… What a cold weekend. We went with a group and they told us we had to many cars, as they spied on us from afar lol. when we left they told us that there were 6 towels missing and there was not they were warn out stained towels i would have never taken them. as i walked in to the house i saw stained rugs to the point that i wished i had brought my own sheets if the floors were like that how could the sheets be cleaned. never will i go back!!!
