I’ve been going to Arturo for about a year after not having any success with Western medicine (Cedars Sinai gastroenterologists and internists) for my colitis, acid reflux, various other digestive diseases that I’ve been dealing with for a little over 2 years (I’m 26 years old now).
When I first started coming, I was underweight (5’4″ and 106 lbs), lost some hair due to becoming malnourished after having chronic diarrhea for 30 days about a year before, didn’t get my period for 6 months, had chronic joint aches and muscle cramps, could barely eat and had difficulty swallowing water because of pain from acid reflux, major PMS, chronic lower and mid back pain, chronic fatigue, chronic bloating and constipation alternating with diarrhea, and super stressed from all this pain. I’m so glad to have found Arturo because he was the only one who was able to find the root issues of my digestive diseases — my hormone levels and bad bacteria and fungus in my gut. He also tested me for metabolic function to make sure I’m digesting proteins correctly and absorbing those nutrients. Many doctors add a fee on top of basic lab fees to make a profit, but Arturo gave me the tests to do at home (since it’s a stool, urine and saliva sample), and I just mailed it to the lab (BioHealth in Santa Monica) and paid them directly. Arturo didn’t make ANY profit. He also goes above and beyond for his patients — he searched for months to find the cheapest price for these tests.
He does a combination of kinesiology, muscle testing, naturopathy, metabolic typing (the best foods to eat for your type), nutritional healing, and all of the supplements he gives his patients are natural/​whole food supplements. None of that synthetic crap with fillers and binders. Some of the brands he has in his office are Standard Process, Synergistics/​Ultra Life, Raintree Nutrition, BioMatrix, Custom Probiotics, etc. If you know your way around whole food supplements, you’ll recognize these brands as legit, and he charges a fair price for them and only «prescribes» what’s necessary — when I first came in, I was taking about 25 different supplements and found out that the majority were actually harming me or not doing anything to help heal me.
All that to say, good care isn’t cheap, but he offers a 40% discount if you buy 12 sessions up-​front. If you end up not using all of them, you can get a refund for whatever you don’t use up (but only after 30 days of purchase I believe — can’t remember the exact policy).
After a year under his care, I’m now at a healthy 116 lbs, getting my periods back, chronic joint aches and muscle cramps are gone (which means I can start working out again to gain muscle back!!!), constipation isn’t nearly as bad as before, no more diarrhea!, my PMS is still there but improving and not as painful, and I’ve gained a friend in Arturo and his receptionist Julie. They treat all their patients like family and they are genuine in their concern for you — VERY hard to find in LA.
I have high hopes that I will be healed from my digestive disease in about 6 months to a year and gain a normal life back so I can live like a normal 20-​something-​year-​old again.
Arturo is a God-​send (LITERALLY — before I started searching on Unilocal for a nutritionist who also deals with digestive disease naturally, something that’s REALLY hard to find, I prayed for help to find one, and he was the only one I found through Unilocal). Amazing.
