Bayanfar Agency – Mercury Insurance Group

So, everything is absolutely great as long as you pay your premiums but don’t ever file any claims! I was with this agency for over 3 years and had 2 auto coverages and 1 renters’ insurance policy. During this time, I got into an accident and filed one claim as a result of it. Then, this past year, my car got broken into. I called them to report the incident, they told me I had to file 2 different claims (even though it was one incident), one for the damage to the car, and one for the contents inside the car.
It didn’t really make sense that I had to file 2 claims, but I obliged anyway. A week later, Michael Kamali, the owner of the agency calls me and tells me that they are dropping me as a client, and are not going to be servicing me any more. Mind you, Mercury insurance was not dropping me, as a matter of fact, they were pretty good about handling the claims, rather it was the Bayanfar agency that was dropping me as a client because it is their policy to DROP their clients if they ever have more than 3 claims. Nevermind that I had 3 policies with them. Nevermind that they are the ones that advised me to file 2 different claims on one incident, and nevermind that the total claim count was 3 in 3 years. Also, nevermind that the Insurance company didn’t have an issue with any of this. It is the agency that wants to maintain some sort of standing with the insurance company that is doing this.
I am filing a complaint with Mercury about this agency. If you like to give money to an agency which will take your money and not give you service when you need them, then by all means go ahead and use these freeloaders, but my advice is to NOT give them your business in the first place because they do nto deserve it. Their whole set up is fishy anyway, because the guy’s last name is Kamali, he’s is the owner of the agency, but operates it under a lady’s license whose last name is Bayanfar!
