Unhei helped my wife and I purchase a new home. We couldn’t have been more impressed with her knowledge, negotiation skills, professionalism, and tact during the home purchasing process. She was able to expertly hone in one our home style/​taste and provide us with a list of homes that we would like in our price range.
Unlike other agents we have dealt with in the past, she did an excellent job listening and incorporating our opinions before providing her own feedback. She also did an amazing job keeping us informed and involved during the negotiation and closing process. My wife and I both felt comfortable stepping back and letting Unhei take the lead. We knew we were always in good hands and never had to worry about scheduling or planning aspects of the home purchase.
Given our type-​A personalities, it is amazing that we were able to find someone that we could trust and let lead. We have been so impressed with Unhei that we are entrusting her to sell our condo without any reservations or apprehension. Unhei helped me buy and sell my first home. Not only does she have the most incredible sense for finding just the right house that suits your character and criteria, she makes sure you are prepared for every step of the process. She is amazingly patient and goes above and beyond to make sure you are clear and comfortable with everything that is happening — because there’s a lot to keep track of. If you are selling, please listen to Unhei when it comes to staging. She has the most incredible design sense. She will bring your place to life and help buyers see the potential for what they can also do once they move in.
I am currently in the process of buying another home. It’s not in Oakland. it’s not even in the State of California (sigh). And while I spent time finding an excellent real estate agent, she is not Unhei. It’s difficult to work with anybody else after you have found the best.

We were so fortunate to work with Unhei Kang to both purchase and sell our home. Among her many shining qualities: she’s detail oriented, knows her field, is efficient, super smart, professional and really kind-​hearted. She always took the time to answer our questions, show us many listings, provide us with comps and ensure that we had all the paperwork together that we needed (and there’s a lot of paperwork involved!). We trusted her in the recommendations she made for selling our home and everything that she anticipated and forecasted seem to come true.
She is so hard working and puts so much care into the work she does. To prepare our house for sale, Unhei worked to coordinate all the contractors who came in and out of the house and to ensure that the work was completed in a quality manner. Because she’s so detail oriented, she always noticed when there were light bulbs that needed to be replaced or electrical plates that were missing. When she noticed that there should be a stronger lock for the gate, she even took the initiative to purchase and replace for us. Prior to the open house, we stopped by the house and found Unhei vacuuming and freshening up the room so everything looked just right.
Her response time was pretty incredible too — every email, text and phone call we placed to her was answered right away.
We trusted her advice and are very glad we did so. We hope to have the pleasure of working with her again when we purchase our next home!

Unhei is everything you’d want in a realtor. First, she knows the area like the back of her hand. In fact, we ended up purchasing our new home in a neighborhood we completely wrote off after Unhei showed us several properties and explained how the area is perfect for our lifestyle and commute. I’m so grateful that she opened our eyes to it, otherwise we wouldn’t be in our current home. My fiancée and I met Unhei at an Open House, randomly. We were just beginning a casual search for a home. Within a week we’d found a place we loved and she had drafted an amazing offer for us. A month later we were moving in, having closed in a short 3 weeks, made possible because Unhei also connected us with a trusted/​amazing mortgage broker since our personal broker faltered at the worst time. She truly has an amazing team backing her up.
So that’s the play-​by-​play, and I know our experience is not common (in terms of how quickly you can buy a home). However, it can’t be overstated, Unhei is remarkably skilled at her job. She is extremely knowledgeable, not only of the law and process, but of the market and people in the business. We have our home because she stepped in and guided us. And by golly, besides her professionalism she’s just a genuinely warm and empathetic person.

I recently relocated to the Bay Area from LA and was referred to Unhei by a friend. Even before I sold my place in LA and was really moving to the East Bay, she took the time to show me around and get to know me so she could have a good idea of what I was looking for in a home. In part due to her wonderful tour and the fact that she continued to communicate with me about properties even while I was in LA, I sold my place in August. I was a bit nervous about buying in Oakland, but trusted her completely and will be moving into my new condo next week! I couldn’t be happier, the property, location and price are perfect fits for me.

Unhei helped us sell our first home. She is a fantastic realtor to work with and I highly recommend her. She helped us make all the correct decisions while listening to our input and laying out all the possible choices. Unhei Kang represented our interests in the sale of our family home in Berkeley this year (February, 2013) and her presence and efforts throughout the process are worthy of our highest praise. From the moment we met her through the closing of escrow, she displayed the highest degree of professional excellence.

Unhei was organized (she loves her iphone and it serves her well) and attentive to detail, energetic, ever-​optimistic (but forthright) in her assessments, understanding and good-​humored. Further, she was kind and compassionate, but could be tough, if need be. She was trustworthy and straight-​forward, holding nothing back, even if we didn’t particularly care for what she was telling us. She was always responsive, returning phone calls without delay. She even provided almost daily updates while she was in Paris for a week while the sale was in escrow.
There was substantial work to be done to prepare the house for sale and Unhei served as advisor and counselor, providing invaluable resources throughout the project. In fact, she acted as sole project manager for the last month of work as we both were out of the area when the work was completed

During the seven months of working together we had the opportunity to get to know Unhei and we are happy that she is now our friend — a friend who is honest, sincere and loyal, with a great sense of humor.

Unhei helped me buy my first home and I highly recommend her. As if the process of buying a home isn’t stressful enough in it of itself, I was also writing my dissertation and adjusting to major life changes. She helped me through a disastrous experience with a totally unprofessional company that supposedly specializes in first-​time buyers. I really trusted her network as well. Everyone she referred from pest to a back-​up lender (who we ended up needing!) was also very trustworthy.

I purchase my rental property with Unhei’s help and I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a real estate agent. Unhei is a very competent, hardworking, and skillful agent. She was able to put together an offer for me with a short notice, and provided excellent guidance in every step of the way, from the initial offer, to inspections, mortgage, and counter-​offer. She is straightforward, honest and patient. I had a million questions about the process, and she always took the time to explain things to my satisfaction. I’m someone who needs to read and understand every piece of paperwork, and she never made me feel rushed or like my efforts to be diligent were annoying. I imagine that some folks in this business are out to seal the deal (any deal) as quickly as possible. I never felt that from Unhei.
The most important thing was that Unhei always did exactly what she said she was going to do when she said she would do it. If she told me she’d call at a particular time with an update, she did. If she said she would pass along my full list of questions to the seller’s agent and get back to me with his answers, she did. There were so many things to keep track of throughout the process, and knowing I could trust Unhei to have my back made a huge difference. The process would have been much more stressful without that.
Unhei was highly organized, trustworthy and generous with her time. She helped me remain confident that I would find something I loved in my price range. She asked me good, probing questions at moments when it was critical for me to remember what my goals were. Even after I’d signed, she hooked me up with an electrician and a painter she knew to help me get the place move-​in ready.
I can’t say enough good things. Unhei’s the bomb.

After years of dreaming of buying my first home. Unhei helped me make it a reality. From the beginning of seeing what I could afford, taking me out to the various openings/​tours, sticking through with me in all my questions and flat out telling me «don’t buy this, none of your friends will want to visit you here.» when the places I was looking at were in the sketchy areas. Unhei is always up front with you even when it’s something you don’t want to hear.
She’s up to date on all the FED/​CA and local assistance programs for home buyers and if you or the home you bid on comes close to qualifying she’s all over it.
I would and have recommended her to friends and will use her again five years down the road when I upgrade or start buying rental properties.
