Paper Source

Came here shopping for Valentine’s Day gift and was pleasantly surprised with their variety of gift options! They range from small little cutesy items to medium sized plush toys. Best of all, they carry a huge selection of paper-​made gift materials (hence the name). Cards, wrapping paper, boxes, fillers, paper art, you name it.
Best of all, they have an entire area devoted to your making of your own customized cards! So if you’re thinking of getting a self-​made Gift Card for your special one, this is the place to go.

We did our own stationary for our wedding and Paper Source was our best friend. My sister-​in-​law designed our invitations and helped me buy whatever supplies I needed to package everything together. We made half a dozen trips to Paper Source in both the Berkeley and Walnut Creek location to get stamps, cards, envelopes, pens, etc. Their staff is always so nice and helpful!
I am probably addicted to Paper Source now :)

I’ve really missed out for lack of prior knowledge about this shop! I stepped in for the first time ever today, and was so delighted by the variety and quality of paper. I came in planning to just look around, and left with 2 slate A2 envelope packs, 20 A2 papaya foldover cards, 20 peacock foldover cards and 2 pens (one with white ink). The sales assistant was really helpful; she showed me the paper, and also recommended a book of prints that I could use for card-​making. My only reservation is that the items are a little pricey. I hope to come back often :).

Don’t bother ordering personalized stationary from this company. It will not arrive in time and they will not answer any of your emails or phone calls.
I ordered personalized stationary for a christmas gift on Dec 4^th. I sent several emails to customer service asking when my order would ship and never received a response. I also called and left several voice messages and never heard back. I finally received a shipment notification yesterday saying my order would delivered Dec 26^th!!! Zero customer service. I will never order from this joke of a company ever again.

I love this store. I love all the things. I love the inspiration I get from it. I lust over things online a lot, and shop at this particular location from time to time as well.
I will admit — I have an embarrassing wealth of Paper Source envelopes and card stock in my craft room. Like, what the hell is wrong with me that I am hoarding all this paper levels.
So, now that planning the big day is upon me, it was kind of a no brainer to get paper for my invites here. I did a little recon online before heading down — I mean, why pay shipping and guess at actual colors when I can hold them in my hot little hands? Well, I have one big, fat, disappointing reason for you right here.
They may not have the quantities you want. The quantities you planned on, that would afford you «bulk quantity» discounts. You may think that will happen, as you pick up a couple of packs in a second, «not your first choice» color, because — well, they’re all A7 envelopes. And I need 12 sets, and 10 gets me the discount, so, fine — I don’t get the color I want, but I still get the quantity and the discount! Except no. No, you don’t. You only get the discount if you’re buying all one color; even if they don’t have enough in stock for you to do so. A minor quibble, but a total letdown nonetheless.
For all the money I’ve spent with you PS — a lousy 10% off my envelopes surely wouldn’t have killed you.

Soren and the fabulous staff here are awesome! From the first time I stepped foot inside of the store to the last visit — I was amazed with the customer service and shocked with how complex wedding invitations could be!
Note to all that are looking to make wedding invites: Make an appointment! *** I was completely unaware of this tradition for making wedding invites that I thought I could walk in and figure everything out within an thirty minutes (that’s how long parking is permitted in the parking lot… but you don’t have to worry about that).
The staff was friendly and very understanding with my uninformed mentality of paper, letter presses, etc. However, we were able to walk out of the store with smiles on our faces knowing that we made the right choice of going to the paper source rather than buying invites through an online website. WORTH IT!

I went here for the wedding invitation workshop and it was not only informative and very affordable, but so much fun! I am a deep lover of paper and creative techniques (think: embossing) so it was great learning more about how I can make amazing cards (really whatever you learn here can be applied to anything and everything: birthday cards, gift tags, an anniversary card for your honey, coworkers last day).
Workshop aside, Paper Source is amazing for cute gifts, calendars, hilarious greeting cards, rubber stamps, aprons, photo albums and gorgeous amazing single sheets of handmade wrapping paper.
Right when I think working in an office has slaughtered my last creative atom, I come here and the crafty little minx in me comes alive. Huzzah!!!

The staff here is super sweet. I needed wedding invitations (which I ultimately screwed up but that has nothing to do with my experience here).
The ladies walked me through the invitation books to match my theme and colors. You can order in-​store or online. Alas and alack, the ones I loved were out of budget but did that deter the staff? Did that inspire them to invite me to the egress? NO!
These ladies showed me what I could do within my budget. I learned how to do envelope liners, distress paper and properly use stamps.

Very helpful staff. I came in asking about wedding invitations, after finding out how long other services took. For me, time was the deciding factor. I needed them completed in a week, not in three to six weeks! And believe me, if I had a Vanderbilt and type available to set, a few polymer sheets for graphics, I would letterpress my own invitations! But that was not in the stars…
Back to the store… sales person greeted me and reassured me that it could be done, walked me over to some lovely stationary that I could print on. The next few times I went to the store, after making some quick decisions and to restock on materials, they were equally as helpful. Because there are several stores in the Bay Area, I was able to get the quantity of cards I needed.
So, thanks to them, instead of waiting for my wedding invitations to be finished, I’m already getting RSVP cards back in the mail :)
Also, pro tip of sorts: I still ended up printing my invitations, directions, RSVP cards professionally, through Copy Central. My personal inkjet/​laser could not adequately latch onto the paper, with the print quality I wanted. But that was fine, because it was all printed and ready to mail within a day!

I AM A DEVOTEE OF PAPER. Good, crisp, fresh paper. Ah! NOTHING quite like it.
This place, is thus, my temple. I must’ve spent 2.5 hours on Saturday afternoon just browsing all the cards, shamelessly stroking the reams of paper, price checking and rationalizing my purchases as I made decisions to whom they were going to be gifted. I have absolutely no regrets. Not one, no siree.
The staff is extremely helpful, to the point that they come around and complement you on your valorous decision making. I thought that was a bit odd but then, strangely, they approached me, and I felt validated in my decision and compelled to spend more. So good on you staff!
The selection is quite nice. Some of the cards though, especially the ones made from the Paper Source paper are such an easy DIY project if you buy 2 pieces of their paper. I just couldn’t justify it to myself at all, so as adorable as they were, I didn’t. Instead, I splurged on the cute hand press cards, the bargain pile from Valentine’s day for next Valentine’s. I also bought a cute mug, very nice thank you cards and a variety pack that would set me off about $ 1.40 a card (good, solid paper) yes, I did my homework.
So yep. For stationary aficionados, this is your place.

Paper Source has so much fun stuff. I could find a gift here for 90%of the people i know. From Calendars to art supplies to desk toys they have some really fun things.
When I need fancy paper this is one of my favorite places to check out, but I love the other distractions. Whenever I am in the area I have to stop and look around.

Beautiful cards and gift ideas. We got many of our Christmas presents from here this year. Were we lazy? Yes, maybe a little bit. Still, it was fun finding little knickknacks for people. You have to be a little wise about their pricing though. They seem to add a bit of «boutique» pricing to their items. For example, a set of 9 whiskey stones (which are a waste of money – get large ice cube molds instead) are $ 24.95 at Paper Source and $ 19.95 at Sur La Table which is just down the street.
Good finds, just know you probably aren’t getting the best deal. But you’re probably getting some fun things that are unique and creative.

Paper Source is every card-addict’s dream. They have the largest selection of cards that I’ve ever seen, compared to the other local card shops like Twig & Fig and Avant-​Card. From the boxed sets of blank notecards that line the ENTIRE northern wall of the store to over forty different kinds of Father’s Day cards (the original purpose of my visit), I was very impressed with the selection here. You can truly find a card for everyone here, and I stocked up on enough cards to last me until April 2014, literally. Although I was mainly focused on cards, I loved how Paper Source could fulfill just about any paper need I desired: from calendars (desk-​sized to mini ones), stamps to decorate any stationary, the cutest paper-​craft stickers to seal an envelope, and an assortment of funny books and other gift ideas. Paper Source, the day they make a thank you card big enough to show you my appreciation (read: reaches all the way to the moon), I’d send it to you.

I never thought I would be this excited about paper. I mean, I was practically gushing out loud about how cool paper is when I first walked in this store. All the texture, the print, the colors… the creative juices were definitely flowing, and I am not even creative to begin with. Yes, I can confidently say that this store can bring out the inner-​Martha Stewart in all of us.
My boyfriend used Paper Source to make my sister’s wedding invitations with. My sister, who was a bit of a picky, control-​freak, flesh-​eating bridezilla at the time, was quite pleased with her invitations.
I came back a second time, this time, for one of my best friend’s wedding. The gentleman who sat with us to discuss EVERYTHING was enormously helpful. He was very patient as he went through everything in detail. He provided us with plenty of options and showed us ways to snip some of the expenses.
My next trip would be to buy some cool paper to frame!

Paper Source has a great selection of specialty papers and all the card making supplies you could want. The only problem is that it will hurt your wallet!
Luckily, I only need one sheet of paper, but I would love to be able to shop here more often.

What can I say? i’m an addict for paper and stationary and kitschy gifts, and this store fills that need. Ok, so the price of paper or invitations can be a little more than expected (go to Target if your basic coworker is leaving or not so favorite sibling is having a B-​day) but go HERE if you want that memorable, handmade (handwrapped) box or invitation that’ll make an impression. Random, they also have lots of stuff for scrap booking, wrapping paper, notes, rubber stamps, etc.
Also, they routinely have classes and workshops on how to make fancy things out of paper. Need to know how to wrap an odd shaped box? Sure. They do that.

One last ditch attempt to find that perfect pen for my perfect hubby. No dice!
I do however give them props for their awesome array of stationery and that is apparently what they’re the «source» for.
I rest my case.

I love this store for it’s numerous craft ideas and helpful workers. Today, I was looking for Japanese Washi paper and whoa, I couldn’t decide on which patterns I wanted to buy. They have a great selection. There is also a fun gift section with aprons, books, calendars, and lots more. If you have craft questions, the staff is very knowledgeable. The last time I was here, I wanted to get a demo of the letterpress machine and they jumped at the chance to show me. Paper Source prices are slightly higher than other paper places, but the quality of materials makes it worth the price. Happy crafting!
