If you’re getting off Downtown Berkeley and looking for LIQUOR(not just beer or wine). E-Z Deli has it! For you weekend night dwellers, or Greek Theater attendees, or if you just want to be efficient with your getting drunk methods. Is there really no other liquor store in a 5 block radius around here? Bonus: lots of ready to eat deli food & snacks!

This place has everything! So many different snacks that I’ve never even see before are here, and they also have actual food, too. Their sandwiches are decently priced and surprisingly tasty too.

I felt harassed by the male server at this place tonight. When i approached the counter i was greeted by a «konnichiwa» and when i didn’t respond, he repeatedly said«konnichiwa» «no japanese?» I politely told him no. I put my things on the counter, and handed him my debit card. At the time i was holding a can of coke which i had previously gotten from another place, and he asked, pointing at the can, if i had gotten it from this store– which was a completely reasonable question, i thought. But when i told him no, he asked«are you sure?» and told me to put my social security number into the number pad. When i brushed off what i took as a joke with a light laugh, he commented to the guy behind me in the line as if i wasn’t there, saying«i made her all nervous now», and added, «she wouldn’t know if i took a thousand dollars from her card». He then went on to ask me if i had a boyfriend, to which i reluctantly responded yes, and he said to the same guy behind me, «she’s lying». At that point i couldn’t fully make sense of what was going on so i just continued to brush it off with a light laugh, and he kept saying«look she’s smiling. Now i know she’s lying. I made her even more nervous». As i was leaving the store he yelled out«say hi to your boyfriend for me», and i could hear him laugh with the other guys in the store. I’m still not completely sure what to make of what i experienced tonight, but i definitely felt upset and uncomfortable as i was walking away from the store, enough for me to never want to return to that place.

Tried the fresh turkey sandwich. Really tasty! It was the perfect classic turkey sandwich. The turkey pieces were big and flavorful. The sandwich was large! The guy who made my sandwich was super friendly. The prices were as expected for downtown Berkeley.

I love E-Z Stop deli. Been going there regularly since 1999. Good people, food and service. Magda is the most amazing sandwich maker next to Ali. If you are in the mood for something different the staff is always willing to throw together what ever sounds good from their menu.

I work in the area, I’ve eaten lunch at EZ Stop off and on for the last 9 years, and I’ve never been disappointed. Huge sandwiches, friendly staff(Magda is the best, and we love Jean!) and lots of options for chips, snacks, sides and beer(for those long Friday lunches). My go-to favorite is the roasted turkey sandwich(specifically the turkey, bacon, avocado). They roast a turkey every day, it’s always delicious and fresh. Just make sure to go early enough so the B. High kids don’t eat it all…

Super sandwiches. Really. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious and huge. The lunches, they have a truly wonderful turkey that is great with avocado. It’s cheap, fast, and great. And the staff is super nice. Also, need to point out that my sandwiches are usually made with skill and a smile by Magda, who is always on point.

I just have to say Jean is the«Best in the West» in the E-Z Stop Deli! Every time I stop in to get a cup of coffee and bangle she is so great to be greeted by a friendly face and warm greeting! Keep up the good work Jean! Best always, Lisa

Great food and even better service! They make their sandwhiches very quickly and with lots of love. Jean is especially nice and engages in warm conversation. I would go back just for the service!

Not the best sandwiches, but still very good. But Jean, the lady behind the register, is super nice and one of the main reasons I keep coming back. Would have given it 5 stars if they didn’t have a minimum purchase amount to use your debit/credit card. You figure as a liquor store they would think that sometimes you come in to just buy a soda and a candy bar.

Way too overpriced, the staff is very helpful, but everything has a high ass mark up. I bought a beer here that’s worth 7.99 for 6 bottles, but I paid almost $ 13 out the door, Straight highway robbery. I’ll never come here again unless I’m in a super tight pinch for booze.

I came here after a Salsa festival down the street. I noticed they had HUGE Rice Krispies of all types in the front window and I was sold… when I got home — they were stale. As hell. I bought two hoping that I’d surprise my brother with one but ended up tossing both. Too bad. Probably won’t be back.

The people who here are really friendly, but I probably had the worst Mac N Cheese of my life served with standard frozen chicken strips that tasted just like from the store. Hope they fix the food cause the coffee was good and how I said the people are nice, and the place is convenient.

Found this place on Unilocal, then when I went to do review I read that students get $ 1 off. There is no seating. Went for the falafel around closing time — 11:10 pmish. I couldn’t find it on the menu but a few other Unilocalers mentioned it and when I asked they had it. The falafel itself was dry, not my aunties falafel but the sandwich was decent for the price. As for ambiance the rap music playing was too loud and the cashier, although friendly was slightly off the mark in terms of professionalism and admitted to being drunk. He did his job though and didn’t make any mistakes and as another Unilocaler described, the employees seem to enjoy themselves. They were closing, and they made the food quickly and I was out in less than 10. Will definitely be back. Next time i’ll order something different though.

E-Z Stop Deli has slightly pricey microbrews, cheap $ chips/crackers. standard deli sammie offerings. store is lengthy but has small walkways. bottlenecks occurs at cashier station and deli/sammie counter. eats: chips: 2/$ 1 –backup snack food. takeouts: –dislike standing around cluttered areas –clastrophobic, so just grabbed something and checked out. –friendly service but bottlenecks gave off bad vibes. maybe this place is 4 stars, didn’t linger to find out.

This place was a microcosm of awesome. We had to wait a while for our sandwiches, so we stepped aside and just watched. The deli is located on Shattuck and so they have to deal with a wide variety of people, from students to the crazies to the transients, and we got a wonderful mix while we waited. Go just for the people watching, if not the sandwiches. The sandwiches: quite good. I would eat one again. The mac and cheese: it was like they forgot the actual flavor packet from Kraft Mac and Cheese. It was pretty bad. The good: the people, ohmygod, so amazing. The bad: don’t do the sides… just…don’t.
