Cat Tree Rescue specializes in rescuing cats from trees in the San Francisco Bay Area.

History

Established in 2006.

I have been saving cats from all sorts of dangerous situations (roofs, trees, etc.) for several years now. I get about three calls per month so it’s not my full time job. By day I am an arborist, so I use all of the safety gear associated with professional tree climbing. I have never failed to get a cat safely down from wherever the silly creature has got itself stuck.

I heard a cat meowing in distress for about a day but couldn’t figure out where the distressed cat was located. Finally, the next day my next door neighbor came over and said, «Do you know you have a cat on your roof?» We tried to get it down with no success. I called the local rescue but they were too busy to help. The Fire Department said they don’t do cat rescues anymore, and the Police Department referred me to a website where I had no success. Finally, I googled Cat stuck in a tree, Cat Rescues and I found Peter’s company. Immediately, I called him (it was about 7:30 Saturday night) and he said he would come out within the hour. He responded much sooner, and within minutes he was on the roof, had the kitty in hand, and I was so relieved! :) The cat was not afraid of him, he was so gentle and caring with the cat which really impressed me. :) I recommend Peter to anyone and everyone. he is GREAT!

My parent’s cat had been missing for three days. Turns out, he was stuck up in a tree. About 60 feet up in a tree. Now, they live all the way in the South Bay, and Peter is in Berkeley. When I called, I asked if he would consider such a trek. He agreed, said he’d get his equipment and be there as soon as possible. I’d asked my parent’s to give me a call when he came because I wanted to be there … but, as it turns out, he was so swift, they had no time. They said it was amazing how quickly he got up the tree and, without frightening the cat, grabbed him, brought him down and brought him into the house. I’d have liked to have met him and thanked him in person. But I’ll have to do it via Unilocal.Thank you again Peter!

My wife called this guy because our cat got stuck on our roof. 15min is all it took to scale our building like Spiderman & get Dexter down. (Coincidence his name is Peter? Don’t think so.) Friendly, profrossional & quick. This guy is awesome.

Mean kitty chased Henry up a Redwood tree in our backyard. Initially Henry was about 30 feet up but since we couldn’t entice him to climb down, he had to spend the night in the tree. He meowed all night and when the sun came up my fears had come true. He had climbed even higher and was now about 60 feet off the ground. Pete showed up when he said he would and had to climb an adjacent tree and swing over in order to nab Henry. It took quite the effort but Pete persisted and kept his good spirit and humor despite how difficult the rescue turned out to be. Of course upon reaching earth Henry just looked at us all nonchalantly and one would never know that he just spent 2 days high in a tree meowing at the top of his lungs.
This service was a relative bargain and I can’t recommend CTR enough, although honestly I hope to never see them again. ..

Our 1-​year old indoor cat snuck out of the house and was chased by a neighborhood cat into a very tall tree in our backyard in Oakland. We called Pete and he said he could be here in an hour. An hour later, he showed up with his climbing equipment and asked us a few questions about our cat — is she friendly with strangers, what’s her name, do you have a treat or a toy I can use to lure her? The tree was probably 50 feet tall and overhanging the creek and barbed wire fence. No small limbs, and no branches until about 20 feet up. He climbed up and coaxed her close enough to scruff her, then gently put her in a pillowcase and into his backpack and climbed down with her. It took about 30 minutes. Cost $ 125, which seemed pretty reasonable for a dangerous and tricky job. My husband videoed the rescue, you can see it here:
I would definitely recommend Pete for a cat rescue, he was personable, professional, and gentle.
