A1 Sun

A friend recommended A1 to us. We were tremendously impressed with their thorough analysis of our situation, and with their willingness to answer our many questions about the system and its financial implications for the future. After comparing their bid with that of a large national company, we decided to go with A1.
The crew was superb, the installation and inspection went smoothly, and we couldn’t be more pleased. A1 is a local company, and we’re confident that if we should need them in the future their follow-​up will be as terrific as their attention to detail has been throughout this process.

Larry and his crew have done numerous PV projects for our clients (we are general contractors). Always top quality. So much so that I used him to put PV on my own home, which was a great success. A1 Sun helped us to get permitted on work that had been done by a previous owner of our home. They were very helpful in walking us through the permitting process and very nice about scheduling as well as making sure we understood every step of the process. They also seem to have a good relationship with city inspectors, got appointments quickly, and helped us to understand the extra work we had to have done to come up to current code.
We are now happily operating a permitted solar system! It’s a very cloudy day, but it is so cool to see our production.

We talked with several companies, and A1 Sun was the the one we chose. The bid was extremely competitive and Larry worked hard to figure out a productive system for our house. We had actually been told by another large company that we didn’t get enough sun. The process was seamless and the crew is fantastic. Really nice guys and excellent work. We recommend Larry to other people with no hesitation.

I just had my roof replaced and needed to have my existing 6-​year old 3.3 Kw PV solar array removed (then reinstalled) to accommodate the job. The original solar company no longer does residential, so I had to find a new company that could step in and help. I contacted four companies and 3 provided bids that were half of the original installation cost! Then I met Larry from A1 Sun. Larry provided a very reasonable bid and an excellent crew to perform the job. They worked seamlessly with the roofing company (Planchon Roofing & Siding) to make sure everything was coordinated and done properly. In the process, A1 Sun installed new (and better) stand-​offs and upgraded the wiring and conduit to the inverter. They even washed the panels before re-​installing them. Since the job could not be completed until after the weekend, the A1 crew went the extra mile to activate ²⁄₃ of my system on Friday so that I would not lose out on 2 days worth of solar power!
Overall. Larry, Craig, Chris, and the entire team did an excellent job!

A1 Sun just completed our home solar installation. Larry, David and the whole team was outstanding – responsive, on schedule, and a pleasure to work with. I don’t easily give five stars, but these guys deserve it!

Today, the A1 Sun team just completed the work on my 8.2KW DC system on my roof. this was a very steep roof with a 50 degree angle where we had 14 panels and another 14 panels on a 30 degree angle above my garage.
Larry, Ben, Keli, Max, Mike & Reggie did an excellent job. they paid attention to the fine details, took their time to make sure they were safe and did an outstanding job.
This inlcudes processing the city permit and the rebate program along with inspector sign-​off. I am very happy with their work and I strongly recommend A1 Sun if you are considering solar panels.
In addition to the great on site work, they gave us a very competitive bid. I received a total of 3 quotes and their price was close to another company but seemed very honest in their commitment. I trusted Larry with our solar system and they delivered excellent work.
I have been tracking our solar production and so far, our 2 way meter shows we are producing more than our usage. we did this by design since we accounted to purchase an electrical vehicle within 2 years.
Overall, no more electric bills and soon no more gasoline vehicle.

From beginning to end (we just started producing power two weeks ago), dealing with A1 Sun has been a pleasure. The are very knowledgable about solar installations, what’s available, how to evaluate it. They worked with us through a number of possible configurations, improving the design as they went along, and ending up with something that does a good job of giving us (and PG&E) power in a way that satisfies the realities of the location and the requirements of the regulations. As for installation, friendly competent young people, great workmanship, steady hard work, and a illingness to work around our sometimes-​awkward schedule (we work at home and at times need quiet.) A joy to work with.

A1 just completed installed photovoltaic system on our house. I was very impressed with their professionalism, promptness and thoroughness.
I started by getting bids from 5 different companies and I was inclined to dismiss A1 because they were smallish and their sales pitch wasn’t quite as slick as some of the others. Their bid was the lowest but I was primarily concerned about quality.
As I began to evaluate the bids I found was that there were pieces to the the permitting process the others hadn’t included. The house was built in 1902 and required some structural work in order for the roof to support the panels.
A1 walked me through the entire permitting process, explaining what needed to be done at each step, from permitting to collection of my rebates. Then they proceeded to handle the entire process for me.
Their crew was great! They showed up on time, were courteous and quick. My General Contractor commented that they knew what they were doing and the quality of the work was first class.
I was particularly impressed with their follow through on all of the paperwork, I didn’t have to do a thing. They did the work they promised, and more. Their price turned out to be the lowest. Great integrity and it was a pleasure working with these guys, truly outstanding!

These guys are great! A family run business, they did a fantastic job explaining everything, answering my many questions, and adapting the system as my needs/​understanding evolved. The price was extremely reasonable and the follow-​up on all of the little issues was just super. Highly recommended vs. the other firms that are out there.

I just had a giant solar electric system installed on top of my 100+ year old house in Berkeley. Larry worked with us to address the challenges of mounting such a large system on such an old house – the solutions he came up with were rational and cost effective. A1 handled all the paperwork, permits, and PG&E interconnection very efficiently.
Also, when there was a price drop in components after we had accepted the bid, savings were passed on to us. VERY impressive.
The crew was friendly, considerate and fast. We are very happy with the results.

If it wasn’t cool enough that my electric meter runs backwards AND that I got a huge credit from PG&E (I did not have to complete a single form) AND I will be getting a huge credit from the IRS AND my electric bill was ZERO last month AND I feel all warm and fuzzy about my contribution to the environment AND my neighbors are all envious… Larry, Ben and John at A1 Sun are consumate professionals who got the job done on budget, ahead of schedule, were neat and clean and just a pleasure to work with; the kind of firm I whole heartedly recommend.
