Superb piano service! I’ve been in Music Makers several times and find the selection of guitars, amps, electric pianos and assorted music gear to be well displayed and nicely priced. The service is prompt, friendly and helpful. The store humidifier is a nice touch and definitely preserves the fine Taylor and other handmade guitars displayed on the wall.
My recent search was for a piano technician. My grand piano is fairly new, but has never been professionally setup since it was purchased. It is currently played in my home by several professional pianists who come over with other jazz musicians for weekly sessions. It quickly became apparent that my piano was in need of a serious tuning as well as voicing and regulation.
I was referred to Dan McClung (the owner of Music Makers) because he services so many of the pianos for local venues, especially the Jazz at Joe’s concerts. After a brief conversation with Dan, it became obvious that he was indeed a seasoned professional technician.
At my home, Dan began with a complete inspection of my piano and a detailed estimate of the work required. This was my second estimate for such work and his prices were more attractive than the competition. Dan first performed a thorough tuning before attempting the rigorous voicing and regulation process. He came back the next day to complete the detailed work and found he wasn’t pleased with the tuning… so he did a second tuning at no additional charge.
Candidly, my grand piano now plays like a different instrument. The tuning is perfect, the dynamic range is much improved, and the feel from the keyboard has subtlety and finesse. Dan worked diligently until he was totally satisfied that the piano played as well as it possibly could. I now have a grand piano that truly sings. I could not be more pleased with the results. If you need piano work, you won’t find a better technician in Bend. Thanks so much Dan!
