History

Established in 1996.

Thanks to our loyal customers, Bend Cyclery has come a long way since 1996, but we are still owned and operated by Eric and a few other dedicated staff members. When you come in we guarantee you will be greeted with a smile and you will most likely be offered a free beer (or soda) from Eric himself. We pride ourselves on being a shop that offers a personable ‘small shop’ feel with ‘big shop’ amenities.

The most important thing, is that we all love bikes, we love to ride bikes, work on bikes, and talk about bikes. So no matter what kind of two-​wheeled, man powered device you ride, if you need it fixed, upgraded, or just want to show it off, we’re here for you.

Eric Smith moved to Bend as a High School student in the mid 80’s, he found mountain biking and his obsession began…

Eric worked as a tech at Century Cycles in the early 90’s and knew from then on that he wanted to be involved with bikes forever. In 1996 he leased a space downtown on Bond that wasn’t much bigger than a closet. Bend Cyclery started in this location as a service only shop, with Eric being the sole owner and employee. Shortly after opening he became an authorized Kona bikes dealer and carried a handful of bikes (literally no more than 5 at a time). Today, 19 years, Bend Cyclery is THE mountain bike shop in town, carrying a full line of Kona, Norco, and Knolly mountain bikes!
