During my years of college at ASU, I turned into a «rock hound». One of my favorites was Turquoise. Soon I learned how to cut and polish stones. I used to travel to several of the Arizona Indian Reservations to buy and trade Jewelry and stones, in fact many of my Indian friends gave me the nickname of «White Dove». Needless to say when I had to come up with a name for my business the choice was easy. With the help of my trading friends I learned to do Silver smithing and started to sell my work to local stores and friends. Things went well and I took several courses of jewelry making and design. I moved to California in 1974 and was a «street artist» in the San Francisco wharf area. Wanting something more year round and stable, I opened my first store in Burlingame in 1975. Two years ago I moved from Burlingame to Belmont. I love the smaller town atmosphere and hope the locals can appreciate my personal customer service and quality work.

I went to White Dove to have some jewelry repaired (replaced clasp on a necklace and resized a ring) and it was a great experience! John is super helpful and turned everything around really quickly and at very reasonable prices. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for jewelry repair!

I will not shop elsewhere to buy quality jewelry! I know it is easy to buy cheap jewelry online from any given website, but if you are looking for a quality experience (John allows you to look around without being pushy) and high end jewelry, look no further than White Dove. Stopped in to ask about having a piece of jewelry custom made. Got there as he was closing did not expect him to stay open for us, but also did not need a smart A comment that he was going to save me a lot of money by having us leave. Just so you know Mr no personality we went to downtown 4th ave in San Mateo and found Ed who is making a beautiful piece for my wife’s Bday., spent a boat load of cash. Rude people will never get my business.

If you want an honest local jeweler, look no further.
I’m very impressed with what went down today. I went in to get a replacement chain for my boyfriends necklace and he told me the chain’s in great condition, he would just replace the clasp and clean it up. It looks brand new actually it looks better than I’ve ever seen it look.
I will definitely return because finding someone with integrity and not greedy is quite the rarity these days.

I just moved to Belmont and went a few times to this place for Jewelry repair. It is awesome. The owner is nice and friendly, charged very little, and even fixed a bracelet clasp for free yesterday.

I started going to White Dove in 1975 when it was in Burlingame, and now still drive all the way to San Carlos from San Francisco because John is the only person I trust with my jewelry. His work is always perfect, and often the item is even better than when I brought it it!
Not only does John work wonders with repairs his custom work is stylish and tasteful. I always get compliments of the pieces he’s designed for me. He also designed and made my daughter’s wedding ring, and easily understood exactly what she wanted, but didn’t hesitate to make suggestions that definitely improved the final product.
My son went there to find a small gift for his girlfriend and left with a lovely dainty heart on a slim chain in his price range. There are also larger pieces for the professional woman. I’m always amazed at the wide range of options available in such a small shop.
After 35 years, I highly recommend the White Dove for all your jewelry needs.

I’ve been going to John for years, ever since he moved to Belmont. He is trustworthy and knowledgeable. Usually I go in to have jewelry repaired, but he has beautiful jewelry for sale also. If you want to buy someone special a gift, start here. You won’t regret it.

When the springring clasp on my necklace broke, I brought it in to White Dove to get it fixed. John was extremely helpful and gave me his recommendation: replace it with a lobster clasp, which is much stronger than the original clasp. He charged me for the new lobster clasp — but made the repairs and even cleaned my entire necklace for free. My experience was painless and enjoyable; anytime I need jewelry fixed or cleaned, White Dove will be my destination and I wholly recommend it.

I have purchased a few items over the years from White Dove and have been satisfied with the product always overlooking the owner’s somewhat unfriendly attitude, that is until today. I was interested in having a diamond ring reset, (not the owner’s design), and while looking at it he shook his head and was critical of my telling him the things I did not like about my ring. When I told him I was in to have a new setting made he handed the ring back and said he could’t help me. No explanation, just a cold disinterested stare. I question all of the good reviews and wonder why he was so rude to me. I was pleasant to him but it was obvious he did not want my business. He made no reply again. I find no pleasure in slamming a business but wonder why he has any customers at all.

We got our engagement and wedding rings here. John is extremely professional. He really knows what he is talking about. He was very straight forward and honest with us. He recommended that we get a radiant cut for a ring that originally had an emerald cut. My engagement ring is absolutely flawless. He did such a great job finding a stone and setting it. The turnaround time was fast and my husband’s ring is awesome!

Stopped by to scrap my old highschool ring I had never worn and another old ring I had found from my moms possessions. I can’t say too much about this jewelry shop in terms of other business.
The owner was nice enough, but very non nonchalant, a don’t waste my time type. At least he was fairly interesting to talk to.
The rate he gave me was $ 30/​pennyweight (pwt) for 14k and $ 40/​pwt for 18k. (1pwt~1.56grams)
All in all it came out to about 66% of the current market value (although he said he gave ~70%).
I guess that’s better than those sketchy late night gold4cash ads, but in the future I’ll probably look around a bit more.
Although it doesn’t help too much with my medical school debt, a few hundred bucks for a ring I have never worn is definitely nice.

Recently came back to White Dove to get a setting for a piece of Tanzanite I purchased while in Tanzania
There is a ton of variety in settings from antique to modern & I was in the mood for something sleek & cool.
Found the perfect, modern, white gold drop pendant & 2 weeks later, I’m the proud wearer of my little memento from an excellent African Safari adventure. I really liked how the catalogs were true to size so we could place the stone in the picture & get a good feel for how the finished product would look… but gotta say, it looked even better once I saw it in real life!
Prices were more than reasonable & the whole process was so easy! Thanks again for another fab experience!

My husband purchased a silver bracelet for me at White Dove, and it was wayyyy to big. I didn’t have the heart to tell him, so I went back to the store and spoke to John about it. I figured he would just bend it to make it fit, but instead he told me how he was going to cut it down to size and refit it. I was a little hesitant doing anything to the silver cuff bracelet, but decided to have a go of it. When I came back a couple days later and tried on the bracelet, it fit perfectly and you would never be able to tell that any work had been on it. The edges were buffed out identically to match the rest of the bracelet. John explained in great detail what he had done and you can tell that he puts great pride into his work.
We will be back!

Aside from 4 pieces of gold jewelry (3 yellow gold, 1 white gold) which I received as gifts, all of my jewelry is silver. White Dove is THE go-​to place for silver jewelry repair or re-​sizing. I munched the setting on a ring I inherited from my grandmother, and it came back looking better than it did *before* its close encounter with the side of a boat. Reasonably priced, quality work.
I have yet to make it to White Dove’s new location, but the Burlingame shop was often busy. Be patient — browse around the showroom while you’re waiting your turn. It’s worth it.
