America’s Service Station

Very happy with both my repairs. This is now called «Drivers Edge». Stand up mechanics who charge fair prices and deliver on repairs. They don’t up sell and are knowledgable. Had my AC recharged and they found and repaired the leaking valve. It has been working without issue for a year now. Just had my transmission fluid drained and replaced along with my oil change. Highly recommend these guys.

After going through some ups and downs over the past few years, this location is now under new ownership and the service is really wonderful. Recently, my wife had a dead battery. After testing, they couldn’t find any problems and the visit was gratis. A few weeks later when the battery again went dead, they sent out some folks to our house to charge the car and take it into the shop. Turns out that the problem could only be detected under a heavy stress. They replaced the battery, which was under warranty, and drove the car back to our house. All for no charge. Above and beyond.

Professional, no pressure, fair and quick.
They noticed a leak in our 2010 Ford Mustang during routine radiator flush. Quote for thermostat and water pump was 100% fair and the work was done same day. They even dropped off the car at my wife’s office.

Their price quotations have always been competitive when I compare them to the competition.
I can depend on a expeditious service, and the job to be completed correctly-​the first time.
Everyone employee there has always been courteous and have gone the extra mile. One time I had a blinker light out, and bought the light an auto store. I couldn’t install it properly myself. I randomly stopped into America’s Service Station for an oil change, and mentioned the issue in passing. The manager walked outside and quickly popped it in himself, and he wouldn’t accept payment. He asked me to give them a shot next time I needed a repair or oil change. Earned my loyalty…

These guys take great care of my (VERY) high mileage vehicle. They are quick, courteous, thorough, and they understand a tight budget.
Truth be told, I grew up in a small town full of «good ol’ boys» and the mentality that accompanies. My dad was one of the «good ol’ boys» and he always took care of my car problems. He said it was easier for a guy to deal with a mechanic than a girl. This stereotype stuck with me into adulthood, and it made car trouble even more of a hassle.
That is, until I started going to AMSS. These guys don’t hassle their female customers; they are straightforward, good at explaining what is happening with my vehicle, and they are honest about the difference between a «must do now» job and a «come back when you have time and money» job. Also, they offer care credit, which allows you to make payments on unexpected repairs if you qualify.
I highly recommend this service station for all car repairs — from a tail light to a new transmission, and everything in between!

AMSS always treats me well. I started going there after getting ripped off at Lamb’s. AMSS employees are respectful and always work hard to get the job done right and fast. I appreciate that!

I stopped in here after receiving a great coupon for a $ 19.99 oil change. I got excellent service, so I have returned several times. I’ve gotten new batteries, oil changes and inspections from this location. They are very pleasant, fast and priced well.
Today, I stopped in because my tire pressure sensor tripped. Not only did they take a look, they pulled a massive nail out and repaired it in 45 minutes. It’s official, I won’t go anywhere else.

These guys did me a serious solid. When the A/​C on my 2002 Subaru WRX went out, I took it to another chain service station (one of their direct competitors, which shall remain nameless for reasons stated below), who charged me $ 60 for diagnosis (inconclusive), then another $ 140 for an A/​C drain and recharge, which they insisted would help them find the leak. They justified this by promising that II wouldn’t have to pay for the second recharge when they performed the repair.
HOWEVER, their estimate was $ 2400 (above the $ 200 I’d already paid)! They wanted to essentially gut and replace the whole system. When I questioned the necessity of that, they insisted there were leaks everywhere and that their 2-​year warranty required them to do this type of thorough work, otherwise they’d be on the hook for other parts inevitably failing. It all sounded very dicey – the car is 12 years old with 130k, I want to pay the minimum necessary to fix the immediate problem, and they were leaning heavily on their warranty as a pretext for going nuts on the repair.
Long story short, I then took it to America’s Service Station, who diagnosed for free and performed the whole repair (including A/​C recharge) for $ 280. Compared to the competitor at $ 2600, America’s Service Station saved me from being overcharged by nearly a factor of 10. The actual issue was a failed O-​ring in the easily accessible service port. I’ve now driven several hundred miles and A/​C is blowing cold as ever.
(I am not naming the competitor who gave me the high estimate, because when I took the receipt from America’s Service Station to them they agreed to refund their diagnostic charges, which was cool. Since they did their best to rectify their mistake, I don’t want to trash them on Unilocal.)
I’ve also used America’s Service Station in Bee Cave for various other maintenance stuff, and have always been generally happy with the experience.

The guys at America’s Service are Top Notch! Bob’s professionalism and customer service really blew me away. I randomly received a A/​C check flyer in the mail and decided to give them a try… so glad I did. They even battled the extended warranty company on my behalf for repair costs.

I just moved to Austin and work in Bee Cave, went here for an oil change and the service and hospitality was wonderful! They were right on time to service my car at my appointment time and the owner was extremely friendly, personable, and for once you didn’t dread being at a garage for another car maintenance issue. They checked even more parts on my car/​did an over all check up with out charging me and explained the specifics to me about which tests they ran and what to keep an eye out for now that I live in a «hilly» area, which can be rough on the transmission. This will definitely be my regular place of maintenance checks for my camry!

I just relocated to Austin and was looking for a good and fair repair place close to my office. Well, I found it here, as these guys are awesome! I initially spoke with Bob– the store Manager and he talked me through the issue I was having with my air Conditioning unit. Bob had me bring my car in the same day, diagnosed it and went to work on it immediately. The entire staff– Bob, Dane and mechanics all treated me very well and gave me a very fair price on the work done on my car.
Yesterday, I went back to see them about a separate issue my Nissan was having and Bob suggested I bring it in for him to take a look. He analyzed my issue, ran some tests and sent me on my way– all curtesy of being a previous client.
I’ll use these guys for all my auto needs. Keep up the great work!

I feel totally confident taking my car to this America’s Service Station. They have fixed many problems that I have had with my 10 year old Lexus and it is running like new. The service that Dane and Bob provide is extra special — I have often needed to be taken home or picked up while my car was being worked on and they have been very accommodating. When my car exhibited little «mystery problems», they have made the extra effort to solve it.
Both Bob and Dane keep me updated on the progress of the repairs and give me an idea of when the work will be done.

Stopped in today after calling and checking that I could drop in and have my car looked at before heading out on a road trip — I dealt with Bob and he was super friendly and easy to deal with. Nothing major, just an oil change to fix what another place (Jiffy Lube, I’m lookin’ at you :-/​) had messed up. They had me ready to go in about 20 minutes… and I even got some recommendations on where to eat on my road trip :) As a girl who doesn’t know much about cars and what they need, it’s easy to be sold on services that aren’t required — I don’t think I’ll have to worry about that here… I’ll definitely be back!

Reading through these prior reviews makes me absolutely flabbergasted! I will say, as a female, going to a car place for repairs/​service is always scary as I am aware that I am perhaps being preyed upon/​taken advantage of.
I can tell you right now that this place is not one of them, for the past year I have been coming to America’s Service Station and everytime I leave I am actually excited! I feel like the staff there is super friendly, communicative and very straight shooters. Bob, the manager is the best. They tell me what needs to be done and what is a waste of my money/​time. My car is in great shape and they even have a free shuttle there to take you where you need to go in Lakeway as your car is getting fixed/​serviced.
Granted, I have never had a large repair here, but I would not let these negative reviews deter me. If personal history has any significance on future decisions, then I trust these guys.

Let me save you the time: I called every place in Bee Caves and Lakeway and America’s Service Station had the BEST PRICE BY FAR! And much better customer service. Michael not only under cut everyone else’s price, but the guy gave me a coupon over the phone. My new Silverado is my baby and I wouldn’t leave my vehicle with anyone else. Thanks Michael and Bob — Y’all made my day!

I was traveling down Bee Caves Road and saw their sign, so I went in to see what kind of prices they charge. They are expensive. I told them that I had my own specialized oil and filter, and they refused me service. They said that they did not make enough money if they did not sell me their inferior oil and their inferior filter. WTF!
You go down the highway, and the Jiffy Lube folks are advertising $ 10 manager’s discounts on their services, and some tightwad organization from New York City refuses to take your money.
These people are nice up front, but when they determine that you are not their BEST customer, they get real ugly and nasty to you. The guy practically threw me out the door.

If you want to get ripped off, then come here and hand your wallet over to America’s Service Station or ASS as we like to refer to them in my household. We dropped our car off for an oil change and to check out why our engine light was on. According to the folks at ASS, our Jeep needed a new cam shaft sensor replacement. They told us it would be $ 77. So we went ahead and told them to do it. Once we arrived to pick up the car, the bill was over $ 400!!! We asked them about the $ 77 we were quoted earlier and were simply told, «I don’t know why he told you that, but he’s left for the day, so that will be $ 400.» Wow. And our Jeep has been stalling at start up ever since and has now has completely died and needs to be towed. Drrrrr… Avoid the incompetent rip off artists at ASS.

I’ve been taking my car here for over five years. Granted, I’ve never had to use them for any major or costly repair, but I’ve been in for general maintenance, oil changes and an abnormal amount of tire patches (damn construction zones!). I’ve never had any problems with the work they’ve done on my car.
The guys at the counter are always very responsive and customer-​service oriented, and it’s been the same staff I’ve worked with for the entire five years. I believe they are straight shooters and they’ve never once tried to up sell me on anything. Because I’m a regular customer they’ve done all my tire patches for free (a really nice perk). I always bring in a coupon but if there’s a better deal they give me the greater discount. Although sometimes the wait times can be lengthy, you can drop off your car and they offer a free shuttle service.
