Get it with salt, get it with liquor, get it with IPAs (?!), caramel, hazelnut, almonds, truffled…
.. . with a shiny polished sheen, fancy or plain, in liquid cocoa form, sprinkled, in a gift box for family/​friends (, or *whisper* for YOURSELF).
Heart-​melting CHOCOLAAAaaaaaTE!

I was just looking for a place to sip on something and read some novels. Anything that isn’t Starbucks. Although they do a great job when it comes to presentation and atmosphere, i don’t care for their selection. It may just be my personal taste but their stuff is just all too sweet. I couldn’t finish the vanilla milkshake I ordered for the life of me!
While trying to read I couldn’t help getting distracted by their loud smooth jazz.
Reading over other reviews I see people praise their «artisan» selection but no matter how you look at it it’s all just sugar filled candy.
Make of that as you will.

All of us get a little OCD at times … yep, from time to time, we all suffer from Obsessive Chocolate Disorder.
When those OCD moments strike, chocoholics will be thankful for Moonstruck Chocolate Café in Beaverton offering alotta chocolates … plus other Unilocaler addictions like coffee, macarons, cookies, eclairs, and milkshakes.
Of course, I used to care a lot more about suffering from OCD, but now I simply eat chocolate and forget all about it … while doing a little Moonstruck Chocolate dance. Olivia Z. and me played a game of chocolate keep away splitting a Mayan hot Chocolate and a creamy Chocolate Milk Shake. Our chocolate entrees were a Chocolate Layer Cake with Espresso Mousse, a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie, and a Chocolate Éclair. For dessert, we got a trio of Macarons and a couple alcoholic Maker’s Mark Truffles.
Whether you have OCD or old-​school chocoholism, you can compulsively consume all the chocolate you crave at Moonstruck Chocolate Café.

It just dawned on me the first time I reviewed about Moonstruck was back in 2011. I believe I was just starting out on Unilocal.I look back at it now and it’s a bit too short. With that said, I’m going to write a proper review.
I have gone this Moonstruck location more than the times I’ve checked in. I love chocolate. Who doesn’t? Not to mention they also make coffee, hot chocolate milkshakes and has a dessert case as well. I love the soy latte.
As you walk in the main entrance in the right you’ll see a small seating area and the left is yummy products along side the wall. The center is the chocolate case where every piece is showcased. The chocolates are perfectly sitting in row in the case and the name card in front of it. The selection of chocolates presents itself with an arrangement of handcrafted beautiful designs, colors and simplicity. Just ahead of the case is the beverage bar and dessert case. Past the beverage bar is more seating, restroom and another entrance.
Customers have the option of buying a pre-​made box or build your own box. I rather build my own box (4, 12 & 16 ct is a available) for myself and as gifts. This way I can truly pick what I or they like. Each chocolate has its own price anywhere from $ 2.00-$ 3.00. I always pick up any sea salt Carmels or dark chocolate truffles (favorites) for me. I have also tried other pieces as well. Moonstruck makes amazing chocolates. It’s so good and rich.
One of my favorite times to go is during a holiday week/​season which is when the holiday pieces are presented. I was there yesterday and I saw a Frankenstein head, aliens, pumpkins, bats and a few other ones. A couples years back after Christmas the seasonal chocolates were still there and it was 50% off. Needless to say, I purchased a belated Christmas gift.
Moonstruck is conveniently located in a shopping area of a Fred Meyer and Olive Garden landmarks. There is plenty of ample parking and they don’t close until 10pm on weekdays. This means if you need a quick fix on chocolates, desserts, gift or a drink Moonstruck will help. The service I always have received has friendly and prompt. Best of all, Moonstruck is a Oregon company. Come on by and support a local business.

A few awesome things: my boyfriend and I shared a MILKSHAKE-​we got the seasonal Mint Chocolate which had real whip cream on top. It was fantastically delicious. Of course you don’t have to share, you can easily gain a few pounds all alone if you chose… but we’re on a diet! Haha!
Plenty of parking ’cause it’s in a strip mall.
Stays open till 10 pm on weekdays… seems unusual for a business in this area but a bonus for chocolate addicts.
A few not-​so-​great things:
They are a big business so the chocolate isn’t made in store. It’s fresh but not eat-​it-​off-​my-​hand fresh. That’d be weird anyways. So when they run out of a certain kind they say, «we are getting more in on Thursday», but why do they run out in the first place!
Weird location, signage at night is super hard to see with dark blue and not enough backlight, seating inside is limited. They have plenty of space to reconfigure but only 3 small tables.
At the end, this shouldn’t stop you from the alcoholic, savory (yes tomato & basil anyone?) or sweet bits of goodness. ASK for SAMPLES, it’ll help you be even more indecisive!

I love Moonstruck, the quality, the service are all top notch. The interior is all dark woods, soothing colors good lighting a great place to hang out, The only improvement I could recommend is to get wifi.
The real reason to come though is the chocolate. It is amazing, they have won lots of awards and such, I mean even Oprah put it on her «O» list! Its got to be great and it is.
I love looking at the seasonal chocolates, Done in fun shapes with beautiful. colorful decorating, tropical fish, fun bugs, fruit shapes, all made of their best chocolates. They make for great hostess gifts and they are local.
My favorite things here are anything with «Mayan» in the name. Truffles, milkshakes, hot chocolate, all are rich, creamy and chocolaty with hints of cinnamon and vanilla.
Which one I get depends on my mood, and the season the truffle I usually get for later or as a gift, By the way if you are gifting they sell the hot chocolate in a tin.
I also want to add the quality control is amazing, at the individual stands it is always the same, the drinks at the one at the mall are usually less strong or were last time I went, The service is always very good, with friendly professional members of staff.

Great coffee. Rich hot chocolate for chocolately sweet treats. I like. Not cheap but totally worth it.

Came here with my girlfriend and a couple of friends. The treats were sweet but a little too expensive for my lowly taste buds. My girlfriend loves the Mayan Milkshake and declares that it is worth every penny.

I love their Mayan drinks, and their truffles are really lovely. Sitting in the place, their seats are comfortable and it’s a cute motif.
The staff isn’t friendly, a few times they barely looked at us as we ordered. Mostly they just try to say as little as possible and get our orders as fast as they can. I’ve purchased truffles with flavors like orange or peanut butter and I definitely did not taste either flavor, so despite they’re always good it can be disappointing; especially when you pay so much for each truffle.
But everything they offer is delicious to me, it’s a fun hang out spot and it’s near good others places. So it’s hard for me to exercise self control in that area. What can I say, I love chocolate.

Chocolate liquor milkshake was fantastic! I also had one of the pieces of their gourmet chocolate and thought it was exceptional. It’s not cheap but it’s really, really good.
I thought the interior was really low well laid out and very comfortable. The service was excellent and explain how they even made their whip cream from scratch. I thought the fact that they made much of the material and ingredients locally and in the store was pretty cool. I think I’m going back again tonight I liked it so much.

Swung by here as I was craving something cold and refreshing on a sunny Saturday. The place was completely empty, but the interior was nice and well-​lit with natural sunlight. Although it seems as though the Unilocalers all get the Mayan, I went with the Mint Tingle (I’m a sucker for all things pumpkin or mint!).
Well, the Mint Tingle was good, cold and refreshing. Just what I was hoping for coming here. But there was nothing about it that really exceeded my expectations. No wow factor, ya know? Considering Moonstruck is also known for their chocolates and truffles, I think it would’ve been better if they incorporated more of this into this particular shake.

I used to live in Beaverton and miss this place dearly. I went in for coffee and milkshakes.
In the summer my favorite drink from them was a chocolate shake with a shot of decaf… so yummy. In the winter the mocha or the drink they do where it’s an expresso shot over a scoop of vanilla ice cream #die.
Now I live in Vancouver, but whenever I’m in the area I make sure to visit.

I looooove this place. I’ve been to Oregon more than once and I don’t know why I have never come across this place! It’s so cute. They have delicious desserts varying from macarons, truffles, clusters, bristles, and cakes. Rich yet not too sweet, the type you don’t get sick of after the first bite. They’re drinks are also delectable. Super smooth and the flavors are on point.
The customer service is what really got me about this place though, they are extremely friendly and helpful. I’m super indecisive and the girl that helped me was super patient and informative. I will continue to go here every time I visit Oregon and I do plan on taking some macarons back to California with me! :D

Very pricey. I got one piece of chocolate for 2.25. I also got a milk chocolate hot coco and I’m feeling a little sick. If you have a sweet tooth and a big wallet you should definitely try it out.

Delicious chocolates! Also great coffee. They have lots of different chocolates to choose from, and I haven’t disliked one yet! Their baked goods are also really good, especially the lemon bars. Friendly staff as well :) also a nice place to hang out. It’s fairly quiet with seating inside and out.

Great chocolate and a damn fine mocha too, plus they have drinking chocolate which I love and can’t wait to try here. The staff explained all the stuff to us and my only gripe is that I wish more places would stop salting all the chocolate, I like my chocolate on it’s own thank you heheh.
I picked up some dark almond bark that was quite good despite the salted part, I look forward to returning.

Purchased sea salt dark chocolate almond bark — it was excellent! Not sweet, savory. I felt like I was eating food not desert. The sea salt they use is just awesome.

Sure, I like chocolate. It’s good. I don’t go crazy for it. My daughter on the other hand, LOVES chocolate. If she were Achilles, chocolate would be her heel. If she were Samson, chocolate would be her hair. If she were Superman, chocolate would be her kryptonite. You get the picture and besides, I don’t think I’m making the right analogies. Whatever, she loves chocolate.
My husband received a little blue box of four Moonstruck chocolates as a gift from a friend. Having never tried them before, I didn’t think much of it when he let me choose one. Wow! As someone who isn’t a huge chocolate fan, I was shocked at how delicious this one was. My husband had one that he described as a little spicy and loved it too. Needless to say, my daughter was raving over the one she ate.
Of course we looked them up right away and found out this was a local chocolatier. (Add this to my list of why I love Portland).
A few days later, on my daughter’s birthday, she decided she didn’t want birthday cake but wanted a trip to the chocolate café instead. Of course we obliged. The café is a cute little shop that displays chocolates much in the same way other places display jewelry. My daughter chose some truffles to take home and ordered a chocolate shake to have there. They have different size boxes to choose and build your own chocolate gift box. I think the single chocolate truffle mini box is adorable and would love to give or receive that as a cute little gift. My daughter chose a nine piece box (they had up to 40 pieces which cost $ 75). While there, I had a delicious mayan hot drinking chocolate. It was thick and rich but I really enjoyed it.
The only little (eh) thing about this visit is that the workers seemed to be preoccupied. There was four of them but only one or two helping customers while the other ones were chatting. The place got really packed, I mean there no empty seats packed, and there seemed to be no sense of urgency from the people that were working there. They weren’t rude, just not great. Still, the chocolate is enough to give this place another try,

Seriously, coffee, chocolate, ice cream, wi fi? What could be bad?
Um, taking your ten year old chocoholic, that’s what.
Sometimes I’m whip smart.
This was not one of those times.
On a no school day (thanks a lot Beaverton School District) we came in here to get treats. I packed my stack of paperwork, she packed her ds, smart phone, and my latest issue of Oprah.
Chocoholic Princess ate a small chocolate sundae (yum, the teencey bite she grudgingly gave me was delicious), I had a 12 ounce dark chocolate mocha (nonfat milk but whipped cream, I know, I know… shut it). I thought she’d be satisfied.
Duh.
This is the child who got her first bite of truffle at age 2 and after the first moments of bewildered joy… glared at us with a «how dare you people keep the Precious from me!!» look and grabbed my husband’s kahlua truffle and attempted to haul her little behind down Hawthorne with it clutched in her chubby little fist at breakneck speed.
It didn’t get better after that, either. Know how her (create a monster not his best moment) dad potty trained her while I was out of town when she was 3?
He held up a truffle and said, if you do that… you get this.
Yes. She did that. And so it’s gone from there. Her relationship with chocolate is, well, let us say they have a bond.
So, I did not get out of Moonstruck lightly today… well my wallet was lighter. We bought some adorable chocolate caramel bees for her friend’s birthday, and a piece of dark chocolate almond sea salt bark as big as my face.
And then I had to tie her up and carry her to the car.
Ok no, not really.
I like this place, but I’m leaving Chocoholic Princess home next time.
P. S. The staff are nice, the seating is good, and its a chill place to hang out. It was busy today but we found a table and I did get
stuff done while sipping my mocha. All in all good stuff.
