Lentil Garden Indian Restaurant

This review is for the buffet:
I really really wanted to like this place as its close to my office and all the employees were very friendly. Nonetheless, I must begin my review:
Overall, there were a couple of bright spots — fish masala, chana masala, and the other main chicken dish besides butter chicken.
There were a couple of «Meh’s» — basmati, tandoori chicken.
And then a couple of «No.» — the first being frozen vegetables. I could tell by the taste and texture on the first bite that the vegetables came directly from a bag in the freezer. I get it, margins are tight and it’s a buffet so they’re even tighter, but this is unacceptable. Also unacceptably bad was the Butter chicken. Maybe I caught it on an off day, but this was the worst butter chicken I’ve had, unfortunately. I had a bite and a half and then stopped.
It is doubtful I return, but if I do I will be sure to either validate the above or amend my rating.

For some reason our family hasn’t included Indian food on our list of places we want to go for dinner. Our loss… up until last December. Since then we’ve eaten at Lentil Garden 4 times; my kid’s eyes, husband’s eyes and mother’s eyes all light up up when I suggest we go there for dinner. Their food is beyond scrumptious and we are in ecstasy with every bite.
The service is attentive and relaxed, though a tad slow. I imagine it takes a bit of time making such perfection in the kitchen, so we await the arrival of our dishes with patient yet eager anticipation.
Lentil Garden’s menu is extensive and varied. It will take many more visits to explore all of the wonderful offerings they have.

I totally love this place!!! The food is delicious and the place is very clean. Staff is very friendly. Great option for vegans and vegetarians.

I’ve passed this place many times, especially when we come to this location for sushi. I finally decided to try it and wasn’t that impressed. First of all the place was empty. The gentleman who waited on me was friendly. However, he didn’t offer me anything — not even water. In other restaurants, they at least offer you water while you peruse the menu. India Palace use to offer their scrumptious tea! Anyway, when I ordered, I asked if things could be mild recently having had surgery, I wasn’t too sure how it would go. He said he couldn’t give me anything that was «mild» but he would see what he could do. Well, the palak paneer was hot and so I ended up with terrible heartburn and wasted the money there. However, the chicken with noodles and veggies was fairly mild and very tasty. The food was just so-​so and the service wasn’t all that great. I will probably not go back.

Visited this place around last week of March 2016. Never had such bad tasting food in my lifetime. We group of four ordered for Panner Tikka Masala and Malai Kofta. Panner was very hard and tasted bitter. Malai kofta was not good as well. They have no option to take entrees with Roti/​Bread.
I would never recommend people to visit this place.

It was kind of quiet, but it was a pretty stormy evening, but that just meant we got prompt attention. Good selection of vegetarian dishes. Can’t wait to try the lunch buffet. The thali dinners had a nice variety and plenty enough for leftovers. Good find.

I love the food and the service here. It is my absolute favorite food in the area. The head chef and everyone there are wonderful. Thank you

(Review NOT for BUFFET) Really solid food with nice flavour. We had an amazing dinner service by Raj, who was easily the most attentive and professional server I have ever encountered in Oregon. Prices were on par with other Indian eateries that I have been to. I used to live in Punjab, so I know how traditional Indian food is supposed to be. Easily the best biryani that I have eaten.
Now I understand why my family goes here multiple times per week. Raj sets the bar for service. Good on ya lad.

Fantastic food. Wonderful service. Great selection. Happy bellys! I had the Kerala masala and the husband had the Vindeloo. We also presented naan which was glorious and soft and fresh as well as a Kati roll to start. We will be back!

Ordered veg fried rice, veggie manchurian and cut mirchi
Cut mirchi: only reason why I am still giving 2 stars. It was a little hot but good try
Veg manchurian: Big NO! The sauce was too tangy and the manchurian balls did not taste good
Veg fried rice: did not look fresh. Kinda tasted stale.

We have been here twice now for dinner and we have been the only dine-​in customers both times. Our service has been pretty friendly and attentive. The first time, I had the aloo gobi and the second time I had the chana pindi. We’ve also ordered the samosas. The samosas are pretty standard. The aloo gobi was good, but I’ve had better. The chana pindi, however, was one of the most delicious chana dishes I’ve ever had. The spice level was perfect for me too. This dish is really a standout here, so maybe there are more standouts to discover. The portion was huge and I had enough leftover rice and chana for lunch the next day. My omni dining companion has really enjoyed her dishes as well both times.

We had our son’s first birthday party here and I have to appreciate the service given by them. Staff were very friendly and approachable. Lunch buffet was well liked by the guests.

Great, friendly service, and unbelievable food. So good. Best pakoras I’ve ever had. We were there for dinner, had chicken tikka masala and saag aloo. Small restaurant in a strip mall next to a fro yo place and a Jimmy John’s. Don’t let that stop you. Just go.

My husband and I keep going here because we like Indian food and it’s close to our house. Every time we do, we remember why we keep saying we’re going to quit going here.
Others have pointed out that the food just isn’t very good. They’re right. I do like some of their batches of naan — quality varies, but at least it isn’t a greaseloaf like some I’ve had. The lunch buffet is tolerable because there are multiple dishes, so you can sample a bunch and then chow down on whichever one you liked. If you order a standard dinner entrée, though, then it’s a bit of a gamble. My paneer tikka marsala was almost flavorless. The husband’s dish wasn’t good either.
The weird thing, and the thing that makes me think that this time I’ll remember not to go back, is that I called our order in in advance but the host acted as if I were crazy when I referenced it. I said that I called our order in ahead of time. .. and he simply said, «No,» as if such a thing were impossible. I continued trying to jog his memory, and he kept repeating that flat and dismissive «No» without any attempt to acknowledge the rather obvious customer service problem going on.
I finally did jog his memory by repeating the food I had ordered, with bizarre results. «Yeah, yeah, yeah. He’s making it.» Looking back, this is perversely impressive — he remained completely dismissive while also doing a complete 180 from «You’re crazy for thinking we take preorders» to «You’re crazy for thinking we don’t have your preorder.»
That was screwy enough that I will not be going again. It’s not a complete hole in the wall, though. If you happen to be nearby at lunchtime and you really love Indian food, the buffet will probably have something decent.

I’ve been here a few times for lunch pick up and have had a great experience! Good food, and lots of it, in their to go lunch box. The staff is always very nice and helpful. Will definitely be back!!!

Ordered chicken vindaloo and fish Manchurian. Vindaloo didn’t have much meat in it and serving size was small compared to its $ 13 price. It did have rice and veggies with it, but I felt doing the lunch buffet is worth the money. Fish Manchurian was my first take on indo Chinese food. It a lightly battered fish in a sweetish salty and spicy sticky sauce with lots of onions and spices. That set me back for $ 9 and was worth it. Service was rather slow. It took 20 minutes to serve, but the wait staff was friendly. Food was served fresh and it came out hot.

I have tried may be 6 – 7 times giving all sorts of feedback hoping that the management will take care of it but
No, the food is not good, actually quite unhygienic, the entire family fell sick and it was obvious culprit
No, the service is really pathetic
No, they are not open for any suggestions

Gave this place another shot and glad we did. Place has been remodeled and the lunch buffett was CLEAN! Great variety of food, some were even new to us. Sign up front says they will be doing a Sunday dinner buffett now.

I went there with great expectations to eat some good Indian food. My expectations were shaterred:(with their mediocre tasting food and service standards.
The good:
Ambiance has improved
They have started DOSA nights on Thursdays. $ 5 for masala DOSA.
Pricing is decent, but I don’t mind paying little more if I get better service/​food.
Intel employees get 20% discount.
The bad:
Poor service — slow and unfriendly
Not good quality food.
Sambhar was served cold twice and so were chutneys
Paneer Tikka Masala curry was just cream and not tasty at all.
Garlic Nan bread was not well cooked. The edges were uncooked.
Counted Alu masala in Dosa, never got this less alu ever in masala dosa!
We ordered for two entrees to share. One came after the other was finished.
Wait time for food was 50 minutes.
So my experience was not good at all. I saw some of their guest waiting for take away cancelling their orders. Just 4 tables were occupied when we were there. maybe they just have 1 chef taking care of all the tables and take away.
Whatever the case is I was disappointed with the low service standards and moderate tasting cold food they serve.
Hopefully the restaurant quality will improve and I will visit them again.

Nice little Indian food restaurant here, right smack dab in a popular strip mall area of Hillsboro/​Beaverton. We arrived on Xmas eve, so of course they were not very busy, and they were open, so yay for us!
We ordered the lamb curry, and butter chicken. Both were lovely. I’m not an Indian food connoisseur, but the naan perfectly soft with a crisp outer.
We will come back again to try their lunch buffet. For sure!
