Dragonfly Clean

Dragonfly Clean is AMAZING! They clean my house from top to bottom and pay attention to the details (They even clean out the inside of my trashcan!)
Not only that, they do a fantastic job doing what I call «fluffing» i.e. they plump pillows, fold the blankets in a lovely way and generally make my place very homey and cozy.
I can’t say enough good things about this exemplary company!

Despite the explanation about how this company got the bad end of a Groupon arrangement, this does not excuse their extreme lack of communication. I sent multiple emails and made multiple phone calls (over more than 2 weeks) before I got a response. We set my cleaning date for a particular day, they asked what time, I replied with a time, then got no further response. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when I got no phone call and nobody showed up at the time I was expecting. Even if a company is very overbooked, I expect some kind of notification that maybe my desired appointment time is not available when I try to schedule an appointment. I have asked Groupon for a refund.
Hopefully this company will be able to recover from all of these negative experiences customers are having, because they seemed to be doing well before the Groupon deal!

Zero professionalism. I had a Friday 8:30am appointment. Called them on status at 9am. Waited another hour and them contacted Groupon for refund. Funny they want to charge customers $ 50 for less than 48 hour change in appointment. THEY should have to reciprocate and pay customer as the way I look at it they owe me for wasting my time. They’ve NEVER even called to acknowledge their no-​show. They should feel a huge embarrassment to call themselves a local Austin business.

According to Groupon, a two-​hour cleaning with two of their people is a $ 200 value. (And that doesn’t include the extra check I had to write for «tax» on $ 200.) This service is not worth $ 50 per person per hour.
One cleaner seemed professional; the other was new and easily distracted. My house has been cleaned much more thoroughly by one person in three hours than these two in two hours. (Well, just under 2 — they arrived a little late and left a little early.) Maybe I’d be more forgiving if they had remembered to clean the kitchen sink, or mopped up a spill in the living room floor. Maybe.
Don’t waste your money, even at a discount.

Well, Alberto, you’re right. These folks ARE my friends in that we’ve become friendly after years of service. Because of that, I happen to know that many of the other positive reviews are from people who have also been their clients for years.
I also know the background of what occurred with this Groupon deal.
The owner, Ms. Barger (you spoke with an employee), told me after her Groupon ran that GROUPON made a critical error in the way they allowed buyers to schedule.
See, when Groupon sells more deals, it involves just a few more clicks. No sweat.
When a cleaning service sells more deals, or when their pre-​set schedule parameters are ignored by Groupon, they have to deal with the realities of the real world — distance to travel, traffic, available crew — essentially the realities of time and space. Ms. Barger accounts for this by having crews cover certain services and certain areas only on particular days. She specified these terms in her Groupon contract.
But when the deal ran, the GROUPON-​supplied scheduler allowed customers to book at times and in areas that are outside the specified schedule. It allowed anyone to schedule anything at any time. When the owner complained to Groupon, my understanding is that they did NOTHING as in BUPKISS, NADA. The impression I got is that they basically told their customer «Tough Cookies» despite the contract stating explicitly that this would not occur. How’s that for customer service?
Groupon’s unwillingness to do anything to correct the problem they’d created left this small business owner with a dilemma:
Did she:
A. Contact all the customers and have her first interaction with them be «Sorry, Groupon made a mistake and we can’t honor your appointment.»?
or
B. Do her level best to crew up and make all the appointments, regardless of the fact that she and her crew would be driving from Dripping Springs to Round Rock to Bastop on a daily basis?
She opted to do the latter. In hindsight, that was a mistake, I’ll grant you that. Her best efforts — 18 hour days, everyone on the crew sacrificing their family time and well-​being to make the appointments — have backfired in that you and a handful of others have posted bad Unilocal reviews. I should add that the promotion also resulted in them signing up the majority of their Groupon buyers for regular service — but the cost has been too dear.
If you know how Groupon works, you know that the business owner gets only a fraction of the money that you actually paid. So when a deal is 50% off, the 50% paid is often split ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ with Groupon, resulting in the owner getting just 25% of the revenue. That may be fine when it works as advertising — getting people to try your product or service and then winning most of them as long-​term customers, but when it creates chaos that results in your not being physically able to provide good service, the cost is way, WAY too high.
Every business owner makes misjudgments from time to time. Clearly this was a misjudgment on the part of the Dragonfly Clean owner. She and her crews tried their hardest and failed in a few instances. Human nature being what it is, those who had a bad experience tend to be quicker to Unilocal than are those who had a good one. She is now making changes in the way she handles the Groupon buyers. She’s gone back to Groupon with evidence — reviews such as yours — of how damaging this has been to her business.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience. Had you allowed the team to clean your location when they arrived, you would have gotten great service.
If Groupon is good for their word, you’ll be getting a letter of apology from them for their role in creating such a massive schedule SNAFU.
I hope by having this background info, you will find it in your heart to be a little more forgiving to this independent business.

Purchased Groupon for 2 hours of cleaning service. I get an email from Groupon at 7 PM the night before saying my appointment was cancelled. I called the owner twice and left her a voicemail both times. No call back or explaination. The folks at Groupon have not explained it either. No way to run a business.

Bought a Groupon for this company. I called twice to schedule an appointment, but no response. I went to their website (
) to see if they had an online scheduler and am getting a 404 Page Not Found error.

Don’t be fooled by the total 3.5 star rating these jokers have. After reading the full individual reviews I can only assume they have friends and employees come in to give them the few positive rating they have. They deserve a NEGATIVE rating
They showed up 2 hours late (as if we had nothing better to do on a Monday morning.) I had to call around 20 times before anyone called me back. When they showed up they were completely unapologetic, or even sympathetic to the fact that they had disrupted our work schedule. The cleaners, who are (probably) not to blame, said this was a «dispatching error.»
I finally got in touch with the lady who runs this farce, and she did absolutely nothing to make things better. In fact, she got upset that I wasn’t willing to give up another 2 hours of my valuable workday in order to pay for their tardiness. When I reminded her that she was running a service based business that should be built on keeping appointments, and not disrupting her customers’ personal and work schedules, she got defensive and unwilling to provide good customer service. Sorry «jenny» (or whatever your name is) THE TRUTH HURTS. You are running a subpar business.
A reviewer defending dragonfly claims that we should cut dragonfly some slack for being a «mom and pop» small business and not a corporate «behemoth.» I want to call Bullshit on that too. Regardless of the size of the business; their #1 priority should be keeping their appointments! To do this all you need is common sense. You don’t overbook! You don’t use your customers’ appointment time to drive from one location to another! You schedule travel time around an appointment!
You can’t justify bad service because of the size of the business. Besides, have you ever heard of not biting off more than you can chew? That’s not only business 101; it’s common sense! You don’t need to be a huge corporate conglomerate to run a house cleaning service. In fact, it is attitudes like that, which give small business a bad name. Personally, as a small business owner in a service-​based industry, if I make a logistical mistake, I have to bite the bullet and make it right.
These amateurs could learn a thing or two from groupon. I called them after my awful experience with dragonfly, and they refunded 100% of my purchase.

Don’t waste your money OR your time. I purchased a 6 hour cleaning with laundry on Groupon. When it was time to make the appointment, Groupon’s scheduler wasn’t working, so I called to make the appointment as instructed. I spoke with Jenny who was cleaning houses at the time and she asked that I email her so she could reply the next day. I waited over a week to hear back, and heard nothing. I called again and was scheduled for that Friday at 9 – 930. Friday came and I waited, and waited …
I finally heard from Jenny stating that the cleaner was having car trouble and coming from south Austin. I was told she was on her way and would be there by 10:30. I waited.
I received another phone call, this time from Ashley, who assured me that the cleaning would be done by 2 people to make up for the delay and they would be done by 6pm, however they wouldn’t be arriving until 11:30.
I reluctantly gave my garage code because I needed to get to work and couldn’t wait around until then.
Her phone call had calmed my nerves. Ashley seemed kind and concerned. I left for work feeling confident that when I returned the house would look great; seeing it was already clean and just the surfaces needed attention. A job that shouldn’t be too hard given 6 hours with two people and no laundry to do! (I had done the laundry while waiting a week for my appointment to be scheduled).
Upon my early arrival home from work, I had expected to run into them since they should still be there elbows deep. Much to my dismay, they were gone already. Perhaps 6 hours wasn’t necessary since the house is small and clean.
Expecting to walk into an immaculate setting, I was handed a house with:
Dusty baseboards
Dusty sideboard
Dusty lamp shades
Dog hair along the wall where the carpet meets (perhaps they didn’t have a crevice tool)
Soap spotted bathroom faucets, (a little non-​ammonia based window cleaner would take care of that!)
My garbage cans were left without liners, which I provided
They took my commercial liners with them (The least the could have done was fill them first before leaving with my roll)
The fast developing pink mildew remains on my shower door corners
The blinds still have dog fur and dust clinging, untouched
The second fridge I asked to be wiped down as the number 1 priority, remained untouched.
— but hey, the dog door looked great. Lucky dogs.
I paid over $ 190 for this service and I provided the cleaning supplies. This also included the required $ 30 in «taxes» that had to be paid in person, not on Groupon. Last I knew .0825 sales tax on $ 160 is around $ 13. I also left a tip… regrettably.
Well here’s my tip to you, the reader. Unless you want to spend over an hour cleaning a house that was supposed to be cleaned, keep looking! Find a cleaner worthy of that kind of money because this isn’t it. I’ve had better cleaning in 2 hours from The Upstairs Maid.

I used Ashley’s services based on a Groupon I purchased. I have someone who comes weekly but just doesn’t have time to do the really deep extensive cleaning your house needs every few months. Angel, who works for Ashley, was extremely detail oriented and spent hours cleaning parts of my home which hadn’t been touched for 5 years. It was exactly what I needed and wanted. I couldn’t be happier. They are coming back in a couple of days to continue, and when all is done in the deep department, I’ll contract with them every 3 – 4 months so the disaster never recurs. Mind you, my house is not filthy but the tops of cabinets, undersides of shelves etc, had not been done in years due to family time issues. Thank you Ashley and Co., I appreciate you greatly!

No stars! Extremely disappointed! I bought a GroupOn and scheduled an appointment for two weeks out. I received an email around 9 pm the night before, rescheduling the time to early in the morning instead of the afternoon of the next day. When I called to find out why it had been changed, the owner was confused that I was calling about business. When I explained about the email, she said that she wouldn’t honor the GroupOn. In her words, the ‘Groupon is only for new business.’ When I explained that it was new business, she prevaricated and said that it didn’t cover a move/​out cleaning. I explained that the fine-​print didn’t say anything restrictions. She said that it didn’t matter, she wouldn’t honor it. I asked her what I was supposed to do, and asked if she would refund my money. She said that only Groupon could do that.
She didn’t care that she wasted my time, my money, and the small amount of patience that i had in reserve after my move. If she didn’t want to do the work, she shouldn’t have partnered with Groupon.
Don’t take your chances with Ashley and Dragonfly!

I can’t give enough stars. best value of any cleaning company, 75 for move-​out cleaning of my whole apartment. I got quotes from several other places. she also responded fastest and accommodated me early sat morning. she is the nicest person you will ever meet! she was like jumping for joy to clean my slimy, scummy grad student bathroom. she’s like mary poppins. or the cat in the hat.

The crew actually managed to show up to my house, but they might as well have not come at all: it would have saved me a chunk of money and a headache. They didn’t complete the majority of items on the checklist provided by the owner – they even left the bathroom mirror and kitchen countertops untouched. When I called Ashley to complain, she refused to give me even a partial refund. I was told the crew could return to redo the job, but after they nearly ruined my hardwood floors with some sort of cleaner, I had no desire to let them into my house again. Terrible work and customer service bad enough to get me to finally sign up for Unilocal

We’ve used Dragonfly for about 5 years now. Ashley is thorough, flexible, and dependable. If we need special attention, a text message takes care of it. If they miss something, she is glad to make good. I am happy with the service, and comfortable with her and her crew being inside my house.

Didn’t actually get to use this service. Purchased a Moolala coupon and called multiple times and sent emails. Have never heard back from the vendor, and got my money back from Moolala.

I will never use this company. I purchased a deal on Moolala to have 2 people clean my house for one and a half hours. I received a phone call from Ashley, the owner of Dragonfly, one hour before Dragofly was supposed to be at my house for an appointment that had been scheduled several weeks in advance. She told me that all of her staff had eaten lunch at the same restaurant and were now sick. I told her that I was in a huge bind now because I was hosting a baby shower at my home tomorrow. She said that she would call me in an hour and a half to let me know if she could work something out. I got off the phone and realized that I needed to have an answer more quickly (since I needed to start working on plan b if her company could now live up to their end of the deal). I called Ashley and told her that I needed to know in about ten minutes if she could arrange to have my house cleaned because otherwise I’ll have to call some other cleaning companies. She immediately jumped on the option of having me call another company. «Do you have another company that you can call?» I told her that I don’t normally have my house cleaned but I’d have to try to find someone if her company couldn’t come through for me. I told her that this was a huge inconvenience since I was hosting a baby shower the next day and really needed to have my house cleaned. She responded that her staff getting sick was a huge inconvenience for her since she now had several clients in the lurch that she had to deal with. She told me that «things happen» and there’s nothing she could do about her staff all eating at the same restaurant and getting sick. She also complained that if I didn’t find someone else and she have to clean my house, it would only be her and it would take her 3 hours instead of two people taking an hour and a half. There are several points I’d like to make: 1) Your company should not be laid out if several of your employees get sick. As an owner, you should have a back up plan/​employees 2) If your company has been paid, as the owner, you had better be willing to roll up your sleeves and provide the service you have already been paid to do. 3) As the owner, if you cannot provide a service you’ve already been paid to do, you should not complain to your customer that you will now have to do the work in twice the time it would have taken 2 of your employees.
I would like to say that I was very pleased with the way Moolala handled the situation. They were very apologetic and not only refunded this deal but are paying for the company I found to come out and clean my house. They are extremely professional and courteous.

I have been a Dragonfly Clean client for 3 years now and am thrilled with their work. Ashley and her crew come every week now and do an amazing job! I always look forward to coming home after Dragonfly Clean has made their weekly visit.
Ashley has been super flexible given our hectic schedules and small children. Her pricing is very competitive and definitely a great value.
Most weeks I leave her a note for some specific areas to take care of (ceiling fans, base boards, kitchen cabinets, etc.) and everything always get done!

I love the service that Dragonfly Clean provides. Ashley is very personable and flexible in working with you on scheduling. She is also great in terms of communicating and offers a fast response. Very dependable and reliable. When I get home tonight, Dragonfly Clean will have worked its magic!

This is an owner-​operated — i.e. she often is at our house in person — business, not some faceless corporation with underpaid staff. Ashley is fantastic — conscientious, flexible, super fast, thorough… I can’t say enough good things. When she sends a crew they do the same.
They do certain tasks upon request (see their website for a list of services) like clean the refrigerator interior, ceiling fans, etc. — she almost always can accommodate me on those even if I forget to request them until the last minute. She’s also added extra visits, or switched weeks for me when I’ve needed that.
Ashley lives east, and I live west, and I know she is north of Austin on other days of the week — so all this flexibility and commitment mean even more knowing her commute time.
Pricing is very competitive. And it’s nice to work with bonded professionals, and someone who is personable and reliable.
Overall, I give them the highest possible recommendation and rating — after being a client for over 3 years!

I have used Dragonly Cleaning for many years. I am always nervous about letting someone in my home, but I completely trust Dragonfly Clean. Ashley is honest, dependable, and a very hard worker. She is eager to please her clients. I am always impressed with her organization skills. She knows how to make things look pretty.
