I ordered a new 2016 GMC Canyon from Marquardt. I can’t express enough how happy I am with the whole experience. I went to Marquardt because of Troy Kent. However, Troy is NOW the sales manager he referred us to Novi Cammarata. Novi was awesome. He kept us updated sometimes twice a week. The day we picked our new truck up couldn’t have went ANY smoother. THANK YOU Marquardt for having such great employee’s.

This place is right down the middle. Had a decent sales experience, but when buying a car one always feels screwed over at the end regardless of the deal.
Brought the car in for a service issue, and they kept it for a few days w/​o giving us a loaner. Diagnosis? No Trouble Found (NTF). I picked it up and replicated the problem in about 20 minutes, doing exactly what I told them I’d done the first time. Drove it back to the dealer, and got a nice 2016 loaner car because they felt it wasn’t safe to drive. I could be more harsh with the review, but they did make it right in the end.

1) I bought a new battery for my 2012 GMC Terrain in August 2014 from an auto store. In November, I began having intermittent issues starting the car. May 2015 rolls around and the car will not start so we have it taken to Marquardt. They tell us it’s the battery so we replace it, although it seems odd since batteries last much longer than 9 months. Intermittent starting issues begin again in July 2015. Bring it back in and Marquardt can’t figure it out so they send us home doing nothing. This week, more intermittent starting issues except this time the battery is completely drained. Bring it back in to Marquardt and they say it’s the starter. Now I’m feeling a bit miffed that I paid for a battery in May which truly didn’t solve the issue. Marquardt did nothing to rectify this when I brought it up except to say some crap about the diagnostic report said the battery was dead. I know very well they didn’t test the starter, they stopped at the battery when they saw it was dead.
2) During the starter replacement, they took my car through their car wash (which came out with more spots on it bc they didn’t use a towel to dry it off). The car wash must have broke my antenna which I noticed once I brought my car home. Of course, this required another trip to the dealer to get a new antenna; trip #3 of the week. My mom was trying to do me a favor and picked up the antenna so we had to put it on ourselves. Well, hard to do when the screw from the original antenna is still in the mount.
3) Customer service went down hill once I called to complain about the antenna and how I couldn’t replace it. While they did send someone out to my work to pick up the car, replace the antenna, and bring it back, our service advisor Jim and anyone else above him has yet to show me why I should return as a customer. I left Jim a voicemail about the antenna voicing my frustration. He decided to call my husband back (who he had never spoken to this whole week!). When my husband broached the subject of our dissatisfaction, he scooted off the phone quickly. My husband then called to speak with the next level up. That was much earlier this morning and he has yet to receive a call back. They obviously don’t value us as customers (perhaps they don’t need us, who knows). Also, the nice man who picked up my car was sent to do a bit of dirty work. I left the antenna they gave us on the work bench in our garage so I didn’t have it when he came to trade vehicles. My bad– I didn’t realize I would need that exact antenna nor did I think they would come pick up my car. When he dropped off my car, he told me that the «big boss» said I have to bring it back or else I’d be charged for it. Seriously? Thanks for not calling my husband back to talk about our concerns and sending your retired hourly employee to deliver your dirty threats.
I’d be happy to change this review or take it down if Marquardt would call myself or my husband back to have a civil conversation regarding our situation. However, at this point I can only recommend that you never touch foot in their service department.

I came to Marquardt for some service work.
They determined some shoddy service work was performed by another service center. They called me over to see the issues and took care of everything my care needed to get it back to its like new condition.
The service writer and manager made sure everything was taken care of. And it was, promptly.
I would not consider any other dealer to work on my Buick.
Glad I bought American this time. I did my research and my Buick Regal
received the number one spot from the leading consumer magazine.
And if you are waiting for some service work.
They have very comfortable locations on the upper and lower levels.
This has to be the nicest looking and cleanest dealerships I’ve ever been to.
But that means nothing if they don’t care about what they do.
I can honestly say they are top notch!

Great dealership to deal with. No pressure at all and very informative salesmen and managers. I dealt with Novi on a Chevy Equinox purchase and everything went smoothly. Will go again when I decide on a car from a dealership.

Great customer service. They even brought the car to me, nearly 30 miles away, for me to drive for a day. Don’t know many dealers that would do that.

We started looking at marquardt, and we really weren’t sure if we wanted/​needed a new car. We met with Tim McIntyre– who was absolutely fabulous. He was patient while my husband tried to convince me that we needed a giant pickup truck (we don’t), and he really listened when I laid out the needs of our family and asked for advice. He ended up helping us find the perfect Yukon Denali. Even though they were tough to come by, Tim found us the exact one we wanted and was able to get the wheels changed so we could get the deal done without waiting for months. He is the best– knowledgable, patient, kind and very easy to work with. We felt no pressure and absolutely loved our experience. Go see Tim if you are looking for a painless car buying experience!

The ultimate car owning experience is found right here! Having bought numerous cars/​trucks from Marquardt, my experience continues to improve every time I stop in. If you’re expecting sleepy sales people you have to avoid or be evasive with just so they leave you alone, well, you’d better go some place else because everyone on their team is focused on making sure the customer comes first, every time, in every way.
I have recommended this place for both sales and service to friends and family alike and, to date, every one of them has had the same excellent experience. They are ethical in every way and will not try and get you to do something you’re not comfortable with or not expecting, even in service!
Speaking of service, there’s no hidden agenda to get you to spend money you don’t need to spend. They’ll take the time to walk you through the repair, why it needs to be done and explain the pricing in a way you can actually understand and not be broke because of it.
Do yourself a favor and stop in for their signature «grab a handful of licorice and drive». If I had to make one suggestion it would be that I wish they had black licorice!

Far and away the best dealership I’ve ever been to. I bought my first car, at 24, a Pontiac, back in 2007. There was an issue getting me financing (even though I was paying 75% down) and Dan Marquardt himself called GMAC on my behalf and worked it out.
The Internet salesman I worked with (another review reminded me of his name — Tim McIntyre) was easy to deal with was great. I did research and knew what people were paying/​the most I’d pay, he offered me a couple hundred less, I accepted. Easy.
The service department always got me in, gave me courtesy cars if I needed one (I moved from the area to Dekalb for school, and still returned to this dealer).
I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a car, they took amazing care of me, and I’d buy a car from them any day. Now that I own a Chevy and am back in IL, I just wish that Marquardt could service my Volt too!

I wouldn’t recommend this dealer as I wrote a check in the amount of $xx, xxx.00 and apparently they didn’t make enough money on the sale of the truck as when I called them back for a line-​x spray in bed liner they gave me a quote for 799.00 plus tax when I called tri-​county truck which uses the same line-​x dealer that Marquardt motors does but they only charged me 489.00 which made me feel like I was taken advantage of. If you can’t trust them with little you can’t trust them with much.

Marquardt of Barrington did not have the car we wanted but we were very impressed with the dealership and David Loucks who treated us like adults and just handed us the keys. Loong time Barrington dealer.

Bought a 2013 Terrain Denali Demonstrator. Nice car. We struck a deal not under the Costco Program. Promised 6000 miles of extended warranty beyond the 3yr 36 000 due to 6000 miles on car at purchase. Brian S and Cary (salespeople) were cordial through out. I turned down the extra cost extended warranty offered by the finance representative since I have had a bad experience with this in the past even though it was a GM product at that time. All in all a typical car buying experience. This is our seventh new GM car.

I’ve purchased 7 vehicles from Marquardt over the last 10 years and I can honestly say that Marquardt of Barrington is one of the best dealers in the country. My sales person, Tim Holloway, is the best salesman ever! He goes out of his way to take care of his customers. I am a customer for life!

What a great experience! I will always give return business to dealers who readily provide a loaner vehicle.

My review is from last year. I forgot to post it.
I bought my 1^st 2 cars from Marquardt. My sister bought her car from their as well. The showroom is nice. They have a small waiting area with coffee & water available. and the salespeople are very (almost overly) attentive. I’ve brought my car in for service, oil changes & such and have never had any problems. They also have a car wash available for customers.

I think I spoke with the Director of Service on the phone and he was awesome. Very nice and very informative. Service manager when I arrived was also very friendly and accommodating to me and my daughter.

Prompt, courteous, professional service on my vehicle.
I was provided a free loaner car as necessary parts wouldn’t arrive unti the next morning. They thoroughly resolved all of my issues and explained what was done.
Very pleased with my first service visit to Marquardt.

This week I bought a ’12 Acadia from Marquardt. This is my second purchase from this dealership in 9 months. To the extent that I am interested in GMCs or Buicks, I will continue to buy from this dealership due to my experience with the people. They are trustworthy and total professionals.
I will talk about the sales process and post sale follow up, both of which were outstanding.
(1) Sales process:
(a) from the start, I worked with Tim McIntyre. Tim is by far the most professional car sales rep I have dealt with. He is sharp, and refreshingly direct and matter-​of-​fact, without being pushy. His follow up is excellent, and he always does what he says he is going to do. His product knowledge is off the charts. Most importantly, his approach to selling is very consultative and completely customer oriented. Beyond this, he and the dealership applied zero pressure, and there was no unwanted follow up… no annoying and persistent calls asking me «when are you going to come in?», which is typical of every other dealer I have dealt with. Over a two month period, he contacted me only when he had something of value to give me.
(b) The day I was coming in to buy the Acadia — I couldn’t make this up – the car I was going to trade in wouldn’t start. I had to have my car towed to the dealership (both embarrassing and a great way to lose leverage). In spite of this, Tim didn’t once give me the impression that they were going to use this to put the screws to me. In fact, the opposite — Chris, the sales manager, indicated they would honor the original offer for my trade as long as it wasn’t anything ‘major’, giving me a great sense of comfort. At the same time, a cash incentive was about to expire that day. With the service department unavailable to determine what the issue was with my vehicle until the next morning, they could have easily told me that they wouldn’t honor the incentive. They didn’t do that; Chris said they would indeed honor it. In addition to this, the next day, their service department identified a $ 600+ fix that was required, yet they honored the original offer for the car. (Side note: I have been taking my wife’s Buick Enclave for service there since November, and the service department is terrific. All the guys down there are great, particularly Matt Domsen. He has been helpful to me personally a number of times.)
(2) Post sale:
Tim’s product knowledge is obvious and it showed in the walk around of the vehicle. He spent over an hour with me at delivery, walking me through every feature of the car, answering questions, etc. The next day I called him and told him there were pinstripes on the car that I didn’t notice and wanted removed. No questions asked, he told me to bring the car in, and his people would remove it. I showed up, within two minutes, he gave me a loaner and I was out the door. 2 hours later, the car was ready, sans pinstripes. In addition to this, a few days later I went back with my wife with her vehicle that we purchased last year to go through the same walk-​around. Tim was gracious enough to offer his time and helped my wife.
For those in the NW suburbs shopping around, and for whatever it is worth, I have shopped at the Woody, Sullivan and Napleton GMC Buick stores before. Didn’t think much of Sullivan’s or Woody’s sales management teams. Napleton posts pricing on their vehicles with all rebates factored in. Then when you walk in and they «discover» that you don’t qualify for half of those rebates, they raise the prices. It’s annoying, and borderline bait and switch. Marquardt beats all of them.
The biggest issue for buyers in working with car dealerships is trust. Marquardt (both in Sales and Service) has won my trust. They are honest and terrific to work with. I can’t say enough positive things about Tim. He is on the ball, and just a total professional. As long as GM continues to put out quality cars, I will be buying from Marquardt and Tim McIntyre.
